Blindness by Ginger Scott

The Synopsis of ‘Blindness’:

It takes a while to know who you really are. And when you lose your way, sometimes it’s hard to find it again.

Charlie Hudson was on the verge of figuring that out when her dad—the only parent and friend she ever had—died suddenly. She was barely 18, and she was alone. So she went for easy—playing life safe, running away from a home that harbored nothing but bad memories and challenges and loving a man who would take her away from it all forever.

It’s funny how chance takes over when you need it most. And that’s exactly what brought Cody Carmichael into her life. A former motocross super star, Cody was now happy to be living the blue collar life, spending his days finishing up school and his nights under the hood of some classic car, just trying to keep everything his father taught him alive. Cody and Charlie were living parallel lives, until they finally collided. And the moment he smiled at her, Charlie knew he was the one who would change everything. But was she willing to take the risk?

Cody saw through it all. He saw her—all of her. But would letting him in be too much to take? And if Charlie let herself love him—really love him—could he love her back?

My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading ‘Blindness’ by Ginger Scott:

I was so excited to be asked to do an early-ARC-review of one of my favorite authors, Ginger Scott’s latest novel, ‘Blindness’.  I have to admit, the cover for ‘Blindness’ has quickly become one of my favorite novel covers and it’s definitely fitting for the look of one of the important characters in the story.  Here is my honest review of this latest novel, which follows the main characters, Charlotte ‘Charlie’ Hudson and Cody Carmichael.  It’s offered in Charlotte’s P.O.V but you get a great Epilogue at the end in Cody’s P.O.V. too. 🙂

Charlotte ‘Charlie’ Hudson had a hard start in life with an addict for a mother and a father who didn’t even know she existed at first, but finds happiness for a moment long after she’s thrust into his life.  After years of awkwardness and not-much of a father/daughter relationship, it changes after an event and they finally begin to bond. That happy time in her life is short-lived after tragedy strikes and she decides to leave the only place she’s come to call home.  She goes to college and falls for a guy named Trevor Appleton, who is perfect in every way that most women would want and Charlotte feels like she’s found her happiness.

Everything seems fine in her life, until she meets a tattooed guy named Cody Carmichael.   At first site, with his tattoos and piercings, Cody doesn’t fit the typical image to Charlotte because he’s also attending the college she attends and is a math tutor, due to the fact the he’s actually pretty smart.  Cody has his own past that he’s had to deal with and is still dealing with but after meeting ‘Charlie’,  something makes him curious to know more about her.  He’s a former motocross champ who now works from his late-father’s shop and considers that his home, especially since the family he is a part of now, through his mother’s current marriage, isn’t really warm and welcoming to him.

Charlotte ‘Charlie’ has Trevor but when Cody comes into the picture when she least expects it, certain changes begin to make her question her feelings and she starts to discover things about herself that she never had before.  One major problem is that these new discoveries about herself, make her question what she’s believed was suppose to be her ‘happy ever after.’ This is a story about finding yourself, learning to truly love and never giving up hope, no matter how far out of reach it can sometimes feel.  With the many challenges that ‘Charlie’, Cody and even Trevor are met with, you’ll find out if they’ll be broken from it all or if any of them can find strength in those challenges to realize when something is worth fighting for or when it’s best to just let it go.  Also, find out if Charlotte ‘Charlie’ can deal with the past she ran away from.  This is another great story from the wonderful author Ginger Scott that does not disappoint. And yes, I do recommend you check it out.

MY BLOGGING READER’S STAR SCORE FOR ‘BLINDNESS’ 4 1/2 out of 5 stars:

★★★MEMORABLE QUOTES FROM ‘BLINDNESS’★★★

Charlotte ‘Charlie’s thoughts:  I had gone from Charlotte Ferris, roommate- to Charlie Hudson, Mac Hudson’s daughter, all because some douchebag hit me.  It was the most horrible and most amazing thing to ever have happened to me.

Charlotte ‘Charlie’s thoughts:  I’m a little embarrassed by it, but honestly, before Trevor Appleton, there was never a guy who made me want to do more than kiss.

Charlotte ‘Charlie’s thoughts on Cody:  He looks nothing like a calculus tutor.  His hair is dark and tossed in various directions- almost messy, like he just removed his hat.  His arms are canvases of artwork, swirls of color crawling up each, sometimes winding into his fingers.

Charlotte ‘Charlie’s thoughts:  I know it isn’t right, but I also know it’s an innocent crush.  I’ve never really had a crush, a distraction that helps me miss Trevor less while he’s away.  Cody is just a checkbox in life I need to get through.

Charlotte ‘Charlie’ talking about her dad Mac:  “Looking at the stars was kind of our thing.  So when the pain gets to be too much, I look at them.  I pretend that he’s looking at them too.”

Charlotte ‘Charlie’s thoughts:  All I want now is time.  Even if the responsible thing to do is to stay with Trevor, to finish out this thing that I once thought was such a fairytale- I want these few stolen moments of what if.  I’ve never had doubts, but then again, I’ve never felt temptation.  I’ve never really felt.

Cody to Charlotte ‘Charlie’:  “It took a while to build, and I did some riding here and there.  But I didn’t really start riding a lot again… until I met you.”

Charlotte ‘Charlie’s thoughts:  My path could have been so different.  But it’s not.  Cody chose to stay away.  And we missed our moment.  It was supposed to be Cody.

Cody to Charlotte ‘Charlie’:  “Thing is, though, as much as I don’t do suits, neither do you, Charlie.  And Trevor?  He’s all suits, and ties, and… modern furniture.”

Cody Carmichael:  “You’re the end of me- and the beginning.  And I will fight for you;  I will always fight for you.”

Charlotte ‘Charlie’s thoughts:  The man I love, probably the only man who will ever live up to the legacy Mac left behind, hates me- I just made sure of that.  I made him love me, then crushed him body and soul.

Charlotte Charlie’s thoughts:  I was trapped- in every possible way- and my captor wasn’t bad.  In fact, he was a decent man… a great man.  But he wasn’t the one I wanted.  But that didn’t matter.

Charlotte ‘Charlie’s thoughts:  I want him to want me, over everything.  And I know it’s selfish as hell, but I’ve already tried being in love for someone else’s sake, and I lost a piece of myself going down that road.  I won’t do it again.

Charlotte ‘Charlie’s thoughts:  I threw away EASY!  I threw away PERFECT!  Because I chose difficult- I chose fucking impossible! I chose him!

What happened with the Vampire Academy Movie? What’s Next?

WHAT HAPPENED WITH THE VAMPIRE ACADEMY MOVIE? WHAT’S NEXT? #WeNeedVAFrostbite

⭐★⭐

1 va movie pic 106q

There have been many YA book to movie adaptations hitting the big screen in large sums in the past several years. Sadly, some are not given a chance, they are pre-judged and hated on before even given an open-minded shot. And yes, because of this, they fall short in ticket sales.

VAMPIRE ACADEMY IS NOT TWILIGHT! RESPECT THEIR DIFFERENCES!

The most recent favorite that fell short in Box Office sales is Vampire Academy.  As a fan of the VAMovie, I was truly disappointed that it didn’t do great because the story that this film is derived from, is better than many other YA books that have been adapted recently and should’ve been held higher than many that have actually done well.  It seems that after the Twilight Saga was done, people grew weary of ‘vampires’.  Too bad people didn’t give the story itself the opportunity to show that the vampire aspect isn’t the ONLY thing this story is about. Many people not familiar with the best-selling VA novel series, chose not to give this film a fair chance, which is sad for VA because it was pre-judged before it was given a real chance to prove it is NOT Twilight or any other film it’s compared to! It’s simply: Vampire Academy.

👊

BAD PROMO TACTIC: SAVE THE BEST FOR LAST.

The last minute release date change may not have helped much.  And some people have said that the trailers didn’t do the film justice and that the promotion of the VAMovie didn’t sell the story well. We could say, yes we can see their perspective and we can say, we wish all of the trailers were more like it’s Music Video because that thing has BITE:

REVIEWERS OR HATERS? CAN’T TELL THE DIFFERENCE!

Then, there are the many Negative Reviews 💨 from sites that seemed to make it their mission to share some really sour opinions on the VAMovie.  Many people and fans of the “VAfamily” have said that some reviewers who shared such negative reviews were upset due to the fact that there was no Press Pre-Screening of the film before hand and they had to watch the film with the general public. Rumor or fact? No one will admit it and unfortunately, there are many negative reviews on Vampire Academy floating around the worldwide web now regardless. But honestly, I’d prefer to read the ‘general public’ opinion/reviews anyway and those can be found all over Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr.

👊💥

FYI: It’s so interesting how drastically different, the average viewers opinions, differ greatly from those “professional reviewers.” Makes you go “hmm…..”

💕

Here’s a few “general public” reviews on the VAmovie via Twitter:

1 a mix of FAN Tweets for the VAmovie 2

BOOK TO MOVIE ADAPTATION – COMPLETED! 🙂

Many book to movie adaptations fail sometimes to capture the essence of the original story source, the book itself.   Vampire Academy is one of the recent ones that actually got most of the book conveyed into the film.  That doesn’t happen too often.  With a story that focuses more on friendship, has a nice amount of action and keeps romances as secondary, this story was not given a real chance to shine like it deserved to.

Vampire Academy’s book series is a worldwide best seller: The first book of the series is probably the only one that has so much of a ‘high school’ feel to it and it’s very disappointing to think that the rest of the VA book series won’t get a chance to prove how epic and unique the Vampire Academy series truly is.

WILL THERE BE A SEQUEL? “FROSTBITE” ANYONE???

Will there be a sequel? Some say no but we hope YES! The no would only be due to the fact that it didn’t do well in sales in the U.S. but the worldwide sales are still unknown at this time.  All VAfamily and new found Vampire Academy fans would love to see the next book of the series made into a movie: FROSTBITE.  We know it would change minds because it definitely delves into the darker parts of this wonderful story.  Maybe, just maybe it will happen… if so, we just have to recommend a few ideas to consider to the awesome Producers of the VAmovie world…

AS FANS, WE LOVE YOU BUT… HERE’S A LITTLE CREATIVE CRITICISM:

We’d love to see the trailers show some of the true dark sides of the story from the start.
►►We loved these guys but… Maybe try a new screenwriter or director. (Like some of those ‘Arrow’ or ‘Agents Of Shield’ crew) -but don’t get us wrong, the screenwriter did a great job at keeping VA close to the story! 🙂
►►►Find where the VAMovie fell short & learn from it.  Make the sequel(hoping for one) better, by strengthening the weak spots of its predecessor. And know that the VAfamily (Vampire Academy Fans) has your back & will support it! 🙂

👍

THE VAFAMILY (VAMOVIE FANS) MUST KEEP THE SUPPORT ALIVE!

To all of the fans and VAfamily who continue to fight on and support the misunderstood Vampire Academy adaptation, keep your head up. Stay strong and know that regardless, we know that it deserved more of a chance than it was given. It’s not over, until it’s over. Remember how ‘The Mortal Instruments’ fandom pulled together after the first TMI film didn’t do so well in theaters, and they are still getting their sequel due to it’s strong fanbase support.

📚

For those that have read the entire VA book series, you all definitely know that this story is one of the best out there and the author Richelle Mead created a world that will always be a great place to visit in our imaginations no matter the outcome in the film world! 🙂

Wait For You by J Lynn Jennifer L Armentrout

The Premise and
My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ all rolled in one for ‘Wait For You’:

The first novel of this series is titled ‘Wait For You’ by author J. Lynn / Jennifer L. Armentrout.  The story tells about a young girl in her freshman year of college named Avery Morgansten and her handsome new classmate, Cameron Hamilton.  Her past follows her and somehow seems to not want to stay buried.

Avery Morgansten of Texas, wanted nothing more than to move as far away from her hometown and the people in it, when it was time to choose a university to attend.  Against her parents wishes, she chose to attend a non-Ivy-league school across the country. The new start was needed after almost five-years of torment and whispers from most of the town she grew up in.  A dark secret lurked after one Halloween night five years earlier.  Her goal at the university was to keep to herself and complete school, while escaping her past.

Her plans took a turn into the unexpected.  After accidentally running into a popular and possibly the most attractive guy on her rush to class, Cameron Hamilton. Cameron ‘Cam’ seemed to take notice of her.   Her plans of sticking to herself begin to fall apart because her path seems to keep crossing with his, without even trying.

Cameron Hamilton is tall, so very handsome, dark hair and the bluest-eyes you’ve ever seen.  Avery wants nothing more than to just steer clear of ‘Cam’ and his charm but she finds it difficult to do that when they share a class together, live near each other and the attraction between them.

The one thing Avery did not expect, begins to occur in her new life far from home.  She begins to receive threatening and mysterious phone calls and emails.  With her past creeping into her new life, will she be able to handle it?  Can Cameron be there to help her through it or will Avery have to face it alone?  As the reader, you will find it easy to fall for ‘Cam’ and the kind of person he is towards Avery.  Avery tries her best to be strong even with the lack of support from her family back home. I recommend this story because it’s the first of such a great series. You’ll find yourself hoping that Avery can surpass her past and possibly find the strength to fight for a future with a guy with piercing blue eyes before she completely pushes him away and loses him forever.

MY BLOGGING READER’S STAR SCORE FOR ‘WAIT FOR YOU’ IS 4 1/2 Out of 5 Stars:

★MEMORABLE QUOTES & LINES FROM ‘WAIT FOR YOU′★

Avery’s thoughts on Cameron:  He was gorgeous in all the ways that made girls do stupid things.

Avery’s thoughts:  The fact that he was a reformed party playboy meant nothing to me other than to stay far, far away from him.

Cameron to Avery:  “You running into me, me always running over you?”  Cam elaborated.  “It’s like we’re a catastrophe waiting to happen.”

Avery’s thoughts:  To look forward to dates, to first kisses, and all the things came after that.  I bet it would be nice.  It would be like before.  Before Blaine Fitzgerald had taken all of that away.

Avery’s thoughts:  People got out of the way for Cam.  He was like a hot Moses, parting a sea of drunk college students.

Cam and Avery:
“Remember? If we’ve kissed, then that means you going home with me could potentially mean something more serious.”-Cam.
“Oh. Okay.”-Avery.
“This is also not a kiss.”-Cam.
The press of his lips the second time consumed me, awakened me.  His mouth was all I could think about, all I wanted to think about.

Avery’s thoughts:  And that was the only word I could use to accurately explained how he kissed me.  Cam devoured me.

Cam to Avery:  “You think I don’t want you?” His voice came out low, almost a growl.  “There’s not a single part of you that I don’t want, you understand?

Cam and Avery:
“You’re drunk, Avery, and when we get together-because we will get together, you’re going to be fully aware of everything that I do to you.”-Cam.
“You’re a good guy, Cam.”-Avery.
“No, I’m not.” He exhaled deeply and his breath was warm against my cheek.  “I’m only good with you.”-Cam.

Cam and Avery:
“You coming back over?”-Avery.
“Always,” he said, kissing me quickly.
“Okay.” I opened my eyes, smiling.  “I’ll wait for you.”-Avery.

Avery’s thoughts:  Maybe not perfect, but life wasn’t meant to be perfect.  It was messy and sometimes it was a disaster, but there was beauty in the messiness and there could be peace in the disaster.

Be With Me by J Lynn Jennifer L Armentrout

The Premise and
My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ all rolled in one for ‘Be With Me’:

‘Be With Me’ is the second novel of the ‘Wait For You Series’ by one of my favorite authors, J. Lynn/Jennifer L. Armentrout. The story in this book follows the younger sister of Cam(from book 1), Teresa “Tess” Hamilton and Cam’s best friend, Jase Winstead.  Cameron and Avery make cameo appearances throughout ‘Be With Me’ as well.

Teresa Hamilton could never shake the feelings she kept to herself for a certain guy, her older brother’s best friend Jase, who she had shared a kiss with a year ago.  Nothing much happened after the mind-blowing kiss and she was left with questions.  He never pursued her and she could never get passed comparing that kiss to anyone she tried to be interested in after him. A year later, she was now going to attend the same university as her older brother Cam. Taking classes was just going to be her backup plan until her injured knee healed and she could get back into her first love, dancing.

Cam’s best friend Jase Winstead, has always had a reputation of being flirty, free and fun.  His tall fit naturally tanned-body, handsome face, beautiful grey eyes and dark hair just added to the attractiveness of Jase. When he kissed his best friend’s sister a year earlier, he had reasons to stop that dead in it’s tracks. Now seeing Teresa, “Tess” as only he calls her, attending the same university, the temptation to pursue her is back too. There are secrets that make Jase keep his distance from Tess but he can’t help the feelings that seem to be growing for her. His responsibilities keep him hesitant on trying to have any kind of serious relationship with anyone.

In this story you are reminded that not everything or everyone are as they may seem.  Secrets are kept sometimes for a reason.  Choosing when to give up on someone is always a difficult decision to make, some deserve the patience while others do not. I recommend this series and this story. Find out if romance and love is meant to be for Teresa and Jase. Things are never black and white in life and love.

MEMORABLE QUOTES & LINES FROM ‘BE WITH ME′

Teresa’s thoughts:  I so needed to pull it together.  If Cam ever discovered that Jase had kissed me, he would murder him and hide his body on a rural road like this one.  And that would be a damn shame.

Teresa’s thoughts:  I was just Cam’s little sister;  the reason why Cam had gotten into so much trouble almost four years ago and why Jase had started making the trip to our home every weekend.  I was just a stolen kiss.  That was all.

Jase to Teresa:  “You blush a lot more now.” And that made my cheeks burn brighter.
The lopsided grin grew.
“It really makes me curious about what you’re thinking.”

Teresa and Jase:
“You should listen to what you’re saying. You said you regretted kissing me, so why would I sit around and think about you?  I moved on, bud.”-Teresa.
The humor vanished from his striking face.  “I never said I regretted kissing you.”-Jase.

Teresa’s thoughts:  Jase and his kisses and his horseback riding and his everything could go play in traffic.  He was always the one walking away.  It was now my turn.

Teresa’s thoughts:  The kiss was fierce and hard.  He kissed me like he was staking a claim or like hadn’t done so in a very long time.

Jase to Teresa:  “I said it before and I’ll say it again.  Sometimes some really good things come from something unexpected.”-Jase.

Jase to Teresa:  “You got under my skin and dug your way into my heart.  Probably that first time we kissed, you got there…”-Jase.

Teresa’s thoughts:  My dream had been shattered, but then re-created, fashioned into something with more meaning and becoming more precious.

RAW by Belle Aurora

The Synopsis for ‘RAW’:

***Author Note: This is not a love story. This is a story of love gone wrong.***

Growing up the way I did, you’d think I’d be more screwed up than what I actually am.

Soon as I turned sixteen, I left that bump in the road I called home and took my chances on the street.

Best decision I ever made.

Now, at the age of twenty six, I’m educated, employed and damn good at my job.

My friends have become my family. Like me, they know what it’s like to grow up unloved.

But the saying is true.

The world makes way for those who know where they are going.

That’s me.

I know where I’m going and I’ll get there eventually. On my own terms and at my own pace.

But then there’s him.

I feel his eyes on me. I see him hiding in plain sight. He watches me.

He makes me feel.

It’s unconventional.

But it’s real.

I’m sure you’re wondering how a person falls in love with their stalker.

So am I.

This isn’t a story.

This is my life.

My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading ‘RAW’:

Where do I even begin? I just finished reading ‘RAW’ by author Belle Aurora and the story left me feeling a mix of heartache, satisfaction but still wanting more! The story is of a young woman named Alexa “Lexi” Ballentine and a man who goes by the unusual nickname- “Twitch.” With this story, you will get to read it through both main character’s P.O.V’s(Point Of Views) and with a little bonus of a third P.O.V. in the book as well at one point.

The story begins on a dark night when a young six-year old girl decides to be brave and take a risk by helping her eight-year old neighbor who is beaten and bleeding in her backyard. She tends to his cuts, while he hesitantly gives in to allowing her to do so.  A promise is made, that stays in the back of the mind of the young girl from then on.

Alexa “Lexi” Ballentine, now a grown woman who no longer lives in the U.S, now resides in Australia and has grown into an independent and caring woman. Her life is basically her best friends and her job. There has been something odd going on that she hasn’t told anyone about.  She has a stalker.  The man with the hood never seems to be afraid of the fact that Lexi has noticed him lurking in the distance, always watching her.  Till one day, a horrible event occurs that could have gone much worse if it hadn’t been for her stalker’s interference.

Don’t get too enamored just yet with this secret hero. After helping Lexi, she becomes curious about the man who watches her under his hooded sweater.

Once they make contact, her life is sent into a tale-spin that leaves her torn between what she’s always known as being normal and the crazy new changes that are taking over her life. I highly recommend this gritty and truly raw story. It’s not your typical love story at all and it definitely gives the feel of a deeper and darker version of what Fifty Shades of Grey delivers. This story is riveting and will keep you hooked even when it seems like too much, you’ll want to keep going. Be ready for the emotional journey that you’re taken on as the reader, following the ties between Lexi’s past, present and ever-changing future. I’m truly hoping there is a sequel to this story with these characters because I don’t think the story of Lexi and Twitch is close to being over.  It will leave you wanting and “begging” for more.

MY BLOGGING READER’S STAR SCORE FOR ‘RAW’ IS 4 1/2 out of 5 stars:

1 star rating 4.5

👏

How I imagined Lexi and Twitch while reading ‘RAW’!

1 Lexi and Twitch 1

________________________________________________________

★★★MEMORABLE QUOTES FROM ‘RAW’★★★

8 Year old boy and 6 Year old girl:  “What’s your name?”-boy.
“Alexa. Alexa Ballentine.”-girl.
He nods, but says nothing.
“What’s your name?”-girl.
He kicks at a stone. “Doesn’t matter. You’ll forget it once I’m gone.”-boy.
My stomach aches. I need to know his name.
Stepping closer, I promise, “No, I won’t.”-girl.

Twitch to Lexi:  “Monsters don’t always lurk in the shadows.”  Reaching up he runs a fingertip slowly down the length of my jaw.  Leaning forward, his breath warms me as he mutters a hairs-breadth away from my lips, “Sometimes they hide in plain sight.”

Lexi’s thoughts: I’m so ashamed of myself for wanting this.  His brand of sex comes with a warning label.  That should make me want to run in the opposite direction.

Twitch’s thoughts:  You need her. Just her. Nothing else.  Ignoring my mind’s voice, I look at my prey.  She’s the reason I am the way I am.  It’s all her fault.  And she’s going to pay.

Twitch’s thoughts:  I warned her.  And I meant what I said.  She will never want anyone else after I’m through with her.   And after I’m through with her.  I’ll leave.  And never look back.

Twitch’s thoughts:  I don’t know if I can do this anymore.  The urge to touch her is overwhelming.

Lexi’s thoughts:  Closing my eyes, I listen to the footsteps walk further and further away from me with only one thought in my mind:  Please, don’t hurt me.

Lexi and “Happy” talk about Twitch:  He ushers me in, gives the driver my address, then says to me sadly, “Not everyone can be a fairy-tale hero.”  He pauses a moment, then adds, “The world needs villains too.”

Lexi’s thoughts:  There’s something about Twitch.  He’s just…raw.  Everything about him is raw.  And gritty.  And unbound.  He’s a raging fire.  And I’m a fragile moth fluttering into the flame.  Sooner or later, I’m going to get burned.  I know this.  Will I even survive the heat?

Lexi’s thoughts:  I want my knight to be a survivor.  Someone who’s been tested and got through his trials.  I don’t want gleaming metal.  I don’t need a fucking knight.  I need a fearless warrior.  I need Twitch.

Twitch to Lexi: “You gave me hope in a fucked up world.”
