This Is Falling by Ginger Scott

The Synopsis for ‘THIS IS FALLING’ (via: Goodreads) :

First, I had to remember how to breathe. Then, I had to learn how to survive. Two years, three months and sixteen days had passed since I was the Rowe Stanton from before, since tragedy stole my youth and my heart went along with it.

When I left for college, I put a thousand miles between my future and my past. I’d made a choice—I was going to cross back to the other side, to live with the living. I just didn’t know how.

And then I met Nate Preeter.

An All-American baseball player, Nate wasn’t supposed to notice a ghost-of-a-girl like me. But he did. He shouldn’t want to know my name. But he did. And when he learned my secret and saw the scars it left behind, he was supposed to run. But he didn’t.

My heart was dead, and I was never supposed to belong to anyone. But Nate Preeter had me feeling, and he made me want to be his. He showed me everything I was missing.

And then he showed me how to fall.

My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading ‘THIS IS FALLING’ (The Falling Series book #1)’:

AMAZING!  That is the first word that comes to mind when I think of ‘This Is Falling’ by Ginger Scott. She has done it, again.  This is another captivating story about wonderful characters and finding love. The story definitely delves into an emotionally charged storyline in the genre of contemporary romance but it also reaches into a heartbreaking aspect in the story. This novel is written in two P.O.V.’s(point of views), which are of the main characters, Rowe Stanton and Nate Preeter.

When Rowe Stanton rides to college with her parents a couple of states away from home it is a huge step for her to take in life. College is a huge step in most young people’s lives but for Rowe, it holds a bigger meaning. She’s kept to herself for the last couple of years of high school since she left her school to be home schooled.  She has survived tragedy and now that she is in a completely new town, she wants to try to live but stay true to the one she holds onto in her heart still.

But then she meets Nate.  He’s a talented college-baseball player who is good looking and quickly shows how much of a likable person he is on the inside, too. He instantly is attracted to Rowe when he first sees her but she is illusive and keeps her distance. He doesn’t understand why but he is determined to not give up that easily. The most he gets to know about her, the more he can’t let go.  The only question he must find the answer to is: will she ever let him get close enough to prove that he may be what she needs?

For each moment of heartbreak, there is a moment of love.  The story of Rowe and Nate is definitely a story about overcoming pain, love-lost and taking a chance at living again after tragedy.  I definitely recommend this beautiful story for all readers who enjoy a novel that will evoke real emotions. Will Rowe be able to make it in college or will she run back home?  Will her past always have a tight hold on her life?  Is Nate going to be able to be there for Rowe or will her past push him away? LOVED THIS and I hope you all take the time to check this one out. It is definitely going on my favorites-list.  🙂

How I imagined Nate and Rowe while reading ‘THIS IS FALLING’:

1 collage 1

Rowe’s thoughts:  I almost broke down at a gas station in New Mexico, bawling my eyes out in a Texaco bathroom. But as badly as I didn’t want to leave the safety of home, I was more afraid of what would happen to me if I stayed.
It’s clear I was dying there. Well, maybe not dying, but certainly not living.

Nate’s thoughts: She’s totally my type. I know I have a type. People have types for a good reason, to help weed out all of the jerks on earth. And my type looks exactly like her.
I have pretty good instincts. It’s why I’m a catcher—I can anticipate the bad pitches, the short swings, and what the batter is going to do. But my instincts run deep. I can read people off the field, too. And Thirty-three? She’s not the kind of girl that spends an hour getting ready to go out for the night. She’s blue jeans and T-shirts. Burgers and fries.

Rowe’s thoughts:  I see Nate’s profile in the far distance, but my eyes zero in on his features immediately. He was not a dream. Everything I thought I saw and remembered is exactly as it should be, and when his gaze flicks up to mine, I’m catapulted back to the hallway and the way he looked in the dark, holding my underwear.

Rowe’s thoughts:  He seemed to soak up everything I said, and I found myself wanting to keep talking, telling him more. And a few times, I thought of stories I could share. But they were stories about Betsy and Josh. Nate doesn’t need to hear those, and I’m not ready to give them away.

Nate and Rowe:  “Uh uh. Time to face the music,” I say, and on the perfect cue the outfield sprinklers kick on, soaking her body, hair, and shorts with every pass. I’m soaking wet too, but I don’t care. I would walk through fire to hold her in front of me like this. And then, a remarkable thing happens.
I let my arms loosen their grip, and Rowe slips away from me, but she doesn’t run. She just stretches her arms out to her sides and looks up, her hair dripping wet, and her face glistening from the water beading up on her skin. She starts spinning slowly in a circle, laughing. And then it’s there—the smile. The same look she had on her face in that picture. It’s joy. And I just gave it to her.
My god, do I want to give it to her again.

Rowe and Nate: “Nate?” I speak, my eyes shut tightly.
“Can I come over?” I open my eyes as soon as I speak—amazed the words left my lips.
He rolls back over to face me, lifting his blanket open, and I somehow find my balance and tiptoe to the other side of the room, lying down next to him, in the most amazingly safe place I’ve ever felt.

Nate and Rowe “Look at me,” I say, needing to know she’s feeling this. I don’t want her forcing herself to do something. I want her to want to be here, to remember this, to obsess over it until she comes back to me. I want her to want more—more of me.
“I will wait for you,” I say, and her breath catches quickly, her eyes watering almost instantly. “Do you hear me?”
She nods yes. Her movement is small, but it is there.
“For as long as it takes. Forever if I have to. I’ll wait forever, okay?”

The Synopsis for ‘Sweet Fall’ (via: Goodreads) :

We all have secrets.

Secrets well buried.

Until we find the one soul who makes the burden of such secrets just that little bit easier to bear.

Lexington “Lexi” Hart is a senior at the University of Alabama. Surrounded by her best friends, her loving family and having fulfilled her life-long dream of making the Crimson Tide cheer squad, everything is going exactly as she always dreamed it would. But beneath her happy exterior, demons lurk, threatening to jeopardize everything Lexi has worked to achieve. When events in her life become too much to cope with, Lexi finds herself spiraling down into the realm of her biggest fear. Lexi falls hard, victim once again to the only thing that can destroy her and, on the way, finds herself falling straight into the dangerous tattooed arms of a guy from the wrong side of the tracks.

Austin Carillo, starting Wide Receiver for the Alabama Crimson Tide, must get picked in this year’s NFL draft. He needs it. His brothers need it. Most importantly, his mother desperately needs it. Brought up in a world where the poor are forgotten, the sick are left to fend for themselves and no hero miraculously appears to pull you out of hell, Austin had no other choice but to make a living on the wrong side of the law—until football offered Austin the break to get his life back on track. But when a family tragedy drags him back into the clutches of the gang he believed he had left far behind, Austin finds himself falling. Falling back into criminal ways and falling deep into a suffocating darkness. Until a troubled yet kindred spirit stumbles across his path, where Austin quickly finds he is falling for a young woman, a young woman who might just have the power to save him from his worst enemy: himself.

Can two troubled souls find a lasting peace together? Or will they finally succumb to the demons threatening to destroy them?

My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading ‘SWEET FALL (Sweet Home Series book #3)’:

This is the third novel of the Sweet Home Series by Author Tillie Cole.  This novel is titled ‘Sweet Fall’ and I have to say, she has done it again.  Sweet Fall delivers all of the emotional high-points that have become her signature writing style to me and a very interesting storyline.  The story is written in the two P.O.V.’s(point of views) of the main characters, Lexi and Austin.

Lexington ‘Lexi’ Hart has been through so much in her young life but things begin to look up for her as she begins her senior year as a college student.  She gets a spot on the cheer squad, which has been something she has wanted for so long.  Unfortunately, old demons begin to creep up and fight to bring her down.  When certain events occur in her life, she begins to slowly listen to those dark thoughts.  She slowly begins to fall into the darkness of becoming a broken girl with a mask to hide the truth and smile to fake her real self from her closest friends.  But there is one person who surprisingly enters her life, giving her some hope again.

Sadly, the new person in Lexi’s life has his own dark past of demons he’s dealing with.  Austin Carillo is the hot bad-boy with the tattoos, large-fit body, piercings galore and an attitude that fits.  He’s also the starting Wide Receiver of the Alabama Crimson Tide and his best friend is the star-quarterback, Rome ‘Rome’ Prince.  Most people think he’s tough, dangerous and just a great football player with a promising future.  Most people from his college-life have no idea that he has so many difficult issues that are on a collision course from his past to who he is now.  They may destroy what he’s been working hard to reach before he can even get there: the draft into professional football.

The girl with a broken view of herself and the boy from a broken lifestyle, unite in an unexpected way.  No matter how much they try to steer clear of each other, something always seems to cause their paths to continuously collide, as if fate has a hand in it.  Will Lexi find the strength to get passed her personal war within herself?  Can Austin be her saving grace?  Will Austin find comfort and understanding in Lexi, the one girl who can demolish his family’s life?  Will Austin keep with the motto that family comes first before anything else and give up his future goals to save the ones he loves?

I definitely recommend this enthralling novel.  This was truly one of those novels you just can’t put down until you are done reading it and left fulfilled, yet wanting more because it was that entertaining.  ‘Sweet Fall’ is so raw, beautiful, touching and emotionally-captivating.  There are topics in this story that the characters have to deal with that make this story seem so realistic and thought-provoking.  Check this story out first chance you get readers.

Reader Warning: New Adult/Contemporary Romance novel—contains adult content, sexual situations and mature topics. Suited for ages 18 and up.

Can be read as a stand-alone novel.

How I imagined Lexi and Austin while reading ‘SWEET FALL’:

1 collage 1

Lexi’s thoughts to her BFF Daisy:  I promise, this year, I will try.  But already dark thoughts plague my mind.  Insecurities haunt me each day.  I don’t know how to purge myself of these horrid thoughts… of his horrid words.  The voice is so powerful in my mind, and only you could understand what this is like.  I’m afraid without you here, it will win.

Lexi’s thoughts about Austin: I’d seen Carillo around campus from time to time over the past three years, and I think it was the first time I’d ever seen him crack anything close to a smile.  I wasn’t surprised.  He was like me- darker, quieter, kept to himself.  Austin Carillo was the Italian bad boy of UA: six-foot-four, beautifully olive skin, piercings galore, black ear gauges, neck-to-toe tattoos, dark hair and the darkest brown eyes.

Lexi’s thoughts: Carillo began to move forward but stopped a few steps away.  He radiated danger and darkness like the sun radiated heat.  It was a force field around him, an aura, and it only served to scare me even more.

Austin’s thoughts: I’d waited until all the players had left the locker room, then tore the place apart.  And then in she walked, the fuckin’ Goth cheerleader.  Except she hadn’t looked too much like a Goth.  I liked the Goth look; she was dark like me.  But without makeup, she looked so different… She looked beautiful, and my heart almost exploded in my chest.  But of late, she was seeing too much of me and my family.  And I’d had to scare her away.  It was my duty as a Carillo.

Lexi and Austin: The soothing vocals of “Ave Maria” serenaded from the small speaker, and Austin looked at me and shrugged in embarrassment.  “It makes her smile,” was all he said.  I lost a piece of my heart to him right then.

Austin and Lexi: Austin nodded once, a curt stoic nod. “Catch you later, Pix.”
I scurried down the path to my sorority house, when I heard Austin shout, “Pix?”
Halting, I turned around, and he moved from the shadows into the moonlight. My heart constricted at the beautiful sight.
“Why the war paint?”
I brushed back my bobbed hair and replied, “Why the tattoos?”
Austin smiled at my response, his white teeth illuminated, and he shook his head, flicking two fingers as his wave good-bye.

Austin to Lexi:  “Yeah, I said you’re a freak.” Lexi flinched at my words, but I added, “But so the fuck am I.”

Austin and Lexin:  “The rain has freed your freckles, Pix,” he said in a raspy voice.
My stomach rolled at the fact that my heavy makeup had washed away, and I began to panic at being so exposed. “I-“
Before I could finish what I wanted to say, Austin leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to the tip of my nose, shocking me into stillness. His lips continued to pepper along my cheek until they reached my ear, where he whispered, “They’re beautiful. I love seeing you without the war paint. I love seeing the real you underneath the armor.”
Forget poetry. Forget mushy sentiments, hearts and flowers, and men who know how to play a girl with words.

Austin to Lexi:  But now I see the truth.  I now pity the stars.  For as much as humans mess up time and time again, we also get to fall in love.  We get to be with the other half of our soul, the one that makes us complete.  All the stars get to do is watch from above, wishing it was them feeling this crushing yet liberating emotion.

Lexi’s thoughts:  I now understand that unless you have traveled an uneasy road, you fail to appreciate what is truly important.  For me, this is accepting myself, flaws and all.  But it’s also love.

The Real Thing by Cassie Mae

The Synopsis:

In this electrifying novel from New Adult sensation Cassie Mae, two close friends surprise themselves by shifting from platonic love to sexual attraction.

Eric Matua has one friend—his best friend and childhood sweetheart, who needs a place to stay for the summer. Mia Johnson has thousands of friends—who live in her computer. Along with her email chats and Facebook notifications, Mia also devours romance novels, spending countless hours with fictional characters, dreaming of her own Romeo to sweep her off her feet. When she starts receiving supersweet messages from a stranger who thinks she’s someone else, Mia begins to believe that real love is possible outside her virtual world.

When the two friends become roommates, Mia finds herself falling harder than she ever thought she could. But Eric keeps his desires locked away, unsure of himself and his ability to give his best friend what she deserves in a boyfriend. As her advances are continually spurned, Mia splits her time between Eric and her computer. But she soon realizes she’s about to lose the only real thing she’s ever had.

My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading  an ARC-Early Copy of ‘THE REAL THING’:

‘The Real Thing’ by Cassie Mae is a story about two long-time best friends who end up being roommates for a summer, after having not seen each other since high school.  They kept in touch online and have always been close, but this summer may bring them closer than they could ever have anticipated.  But there may be secrets that could break them apart before they can actually give a closer relationship with each other a chance to flourish.  This story is written in the two P.O.V.’s(point of views) of the main characters of Mia Johnson and Eric Matua.

The last time Mia Johnson saw her long-time best friend Eric, was at the end of high school.   She’s always had an addiction to the virtual world online and the social media friendships she keeps.  Eric has always been on the other end of the internet when he moved away but now she’s going to live with him for the summer.  Mia is so excited to see him again and hang out with her best friend.  But once she sees Eric again, she is shocked to see that her high school football player BFF looks so different.  She’s always thought he was cute and now, she still thinks he’s as attractive as always.

When Eric Matua invited Mia to stay with him for the summer he was thrilled to finally spend a nice summer being roommates with his best friend and the girl that has always made him feel good about himself.  When feelings begin to grow, he hesitates because of terrible panic attacks he gets because of a horrible past relationship.  When Mia and Eric try to get closer with each other, secrets are kept and some lies are told.  This begins to snow ball into a situation that can ruin what they are barely beginning to grow together.

This story was a delightful love story about friendship, dealing with past issues, and how much people can really risk their real life relationships for their online addictions.  I do recommend this feel-good novel because it shows that despite how much two people care about each other, challenges can still exist.  It also reminds you to appreciate the people around you when they are there.  Great story. Check this one out.  🙂

Emilia ‘Mia’s status:  Today I get to see my best friend after THREE VERY LONG YEARS! – feeling excited with Eric Matua  24 people like this

Mia’s thoughts:  Is this my Eric?  He looks so different.  So different.  His squishy, adorable love handles have disappeared into his shorts.  His ass, holy shit, and his face went from round to square.  He laughs as I step back in front of him, poking his stomach.  He jerks back, and that’s when I know it’s really him.  Eric is the most ticklish person on the planet.

Eric’s thoughts:  She’s still as cute as she was in high school.  Scratch that.  She’s cuter.  Shit, she’s sexy as hell.  No… scratch that, too.  Hell is a walk-in freezer compared to Emmy.

Eric’s thoughts:  And when she tackled me to the ground after that game, I almost kissed her.  I wanted her to know how much she meant to me and how she never made me feel like I was unworthy of her friendship.  But making the move wasn’t – isn’t – something I’m good at, and she was off me before I could take the chance.

Mia’s thoughts:  I see his eyes taking in every inch of skin as it’s exposed.  In my head, his lips are slightly parted to match his unsteady breathing.  I’ve never experienced something like this…   I feel every single touch he gives me.  I don’t only feel it, I taste it.  I smell it.  I crave it.  Desire it.

Mia’s thoughts:  I wipe it away before he sees or misinterprets my crying.  In reality, I’m enjoying this so much, it’s too much.  Because I can’t even begin to describe how much I don’t deserve the love he has for me- someone who won’t get her face out of her computer long enough to even appreciate everything around her.

The past isn’t always left there.

Cam is the savior she’s always needed. Gabby is the woman he’s always coveted. When past mistakes come back with a vengeance will their love be strong enough to fight it? Or will the past keep them apart?

My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading  an ARC-Early Copy of ‘TEN YEAR CRUSH’:

This is the debut novel for the new author Toshia Slade and the novel is titled: Ten Year Crush.  This novel is of the genres romance and New Adult.  The story is written in the two P.O.V.’s(point of views) of the main characters, Gabby Murphy and Camron Taylor.

The story is about college student Gabby Murphy and her long time crush on her older brother’s best friend, Camron Taylor.  She first became well aware of her crush on her eleventh birthday after literally falling into Camron’s arms(and lap).   From that day on, she has watched him date and flirt with many girls while wishing that she could be the one girl he would want instead of the rest. For now, Gabby and Cam share a great friendship and that’s all.  She now lives with her long time best friend Tiff who also is well aware of Gabby’s secret crush and she always tells Gabby she needs to do something about it.

Camron Taylor never saw Gabby as more than his best friend Josh’s little sister until she became a teenager and he began to take notice of her in a different way.  Regardless, Cam never said anything or tried anything because of his loyalty to the friendship he has had with Josh.  He’s liked her for so long and tries his best to make sure to never let his feelings become anything more than friendship.   Now that he has a successful business with his partner and bestfriend Josh, he tries to focus on that instead of on the girl he can never have.  But on a night out, Gabby begins cutting loose and Cam can’t take keeping it all to himself.  And soon after, he begins to feel like something isn’t right about Gabby’s new boyfriend.

‘Ten Year Crush’ reminds us about carrying a long time crush on that one special person, that seems to only gets stronger with time.  Will Gabby and Cam ever share their true secret feelings for each other?  Is something going to detour them from getting a chance to ever be together?  Will Cam ever be able to admit his feelings to Gabby without ruining his friendship with his best friend Josh?  I definitely recommend this lovely novel for all readers, especially if you’ve ever experienced your own special crush.  There are so many feelings, references to great songs from this sensational story that will take you back to the exciting flutters of your own first crush.  🙂

Gabby’s thoughts:  Yeah, still haven’t kicked that crush.  Ten years and going strong.  He sees me as a little sister; his best friend’s little sister, the girl who snorts when she laughs too hard.  I look at him and see the dark hair, mesmerizing deep blue eyes, his sexy dimple, and all of this comes in a six-foot two, nothing but muscle package.  The normal pain grips my heart when thinking about Cam and the girls that get what I want, but I never do.  Him.

Cam’s thoughts:  Gabby is so sweet and innocent.  She doesn’t have a clue how sexy she is, even when she’s in a plain shirt and jeans.  How are you supposed to drink her out of your mind when she’s all you’re thinking about?  Dumbass.

Cam’s thoughts:  It could never work with us.  She and Josh are too important and nothing is worth coming in between that.  Even if it means my fucking heart hurts.  It’ll pass eventually.  I just need to stay drunk and find some willing woman to bury myself inside.

Cam and Gabby:  “Happy birthday, Thumper.” I hand her my gift.
“You’re never going to let me live that one down, are you?”
“Um, no. You hit me in the face the first time you met me; you will always be Thumper to me.”

The Girl He Knows by Kristi Rose

The Synopsis for ‘The Girl He Knows’:

Waking up naked next to a good looking man is not a bad way to start the day. Especially since Paisley missed all those opportunities in college, when she was too busy supporting her no good, thankfully now, ex-husband. The problem? This hottie is Hank, her best friend’s older brother, a guy she’s known her entire life.

Stopping after one night is the right thing to do. Being with him clearly breaks the best friend code, and from his career as a Naval officer to his Boy Scout reputation, everything about him screams monogamy and commitment. Two things Paisley has had enough of.

When Hank presents a “no strings attached” offer, it’s too good to be true. She can enjoy him while still embracing being single. But, poor choices force her to confront old fears of love and loss, and Paisley has to decide if Hank is worth the risk. The alternative is never experiencing the real deal. Or far worse, settling for less.

My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading  an ARC-Early Copy of ‘THE GIRL HE KNOWS’:

This is a romance story about growing into oneself after divorce and figuring out what was missing in her failed marriage.  ‘The Girl He Knows’ is written in the P.O.V. of the main character, Paisley who tries to become independent and explore the dating world.  But one choice she makes will change everything.

Paisley has been best friends with Gia since they were young.  She ended up marrying a man because she felt that it was what was the next thing to do in her life.  When she finds out something about him and decides to divorce, her life goes back to square one.  Now scarred from a failed marriage, she decides to want to try out the dating life and keep relationships casual.   What she didn’t bet on was coming across her best friend’s brother Hank and sharing a hot-steamy night with him.

Hank has always been there for Paisley and has a friendship with her beyond just his ‘little sisters friend’.  Paisley and Hank had a friendship of their own, too.  Growing up, he was there for her during life-changing moments and heartache that altered her life.   Hank is always on the go with his Navy career and never really found someone to be serious about.  But now that Paisley is back and single, he can’t help but wonder ‘what if.’

‘The Girl She Knows’ is a pleasantly-good story about finding yourself and finding love where you least expect it.  I do recommend this novel for readers who want a nice romance to relax and enjoy.  The characters are delightful and make the story pleasing. Check it out romance lovers.  🙂

The Girl He knows Kristi Rose Promo 4

Paisley’s thoughts:  While I was in the midst of my divorce and on the edge of a nervous breakdown, it was Gigi who came to me with the soundest advice.  “You get a second chance,” she told me.  “A second chance to do it right.  Pick wisely and do it for those who are stuck.”  I have every intention of getting it right this time, no matter what.

Paisley’s thoughts:  Truth is, Hank came along at the right time.  He’s my crash course back into the single life.  And that’s what I want to focus on, my single life.  Not my failed marriage.

Paisley to Hank:  “The fact remains, I failed at my marriage and now I have to make sure not to repeat my mistakes.  I went from high school to college to Trevor.  On an experience meter, I’d be surprised if mine registers.  I want to do now what I should’ve done in college.”

Paisley’s thoughts:  In my heart of hearts, I know I allow this to go on because he would never purposely hurt me, because it’s safe.  If we got together, I believe, without a doubt, his absence for long periods, the waiting, and uncertainty would destroy us.  I’m not a strong enough person.  I take comfort in knowing our friendship has withstood the test of time and when we end this agreement, say good-bye, and move on, we’ll be able to remain friends.

Hank to Paisley:  “You’ve always been sassy and courageous.  So sure of yourself and determined.  You’re not that person anymore.  This person now, I’m not sure I like.  Yeah, when we’re together I see glimpses of the girl I fell for as a boy and it gives me hope she’s still in there.”

Paisley’s thoughts:  Like a bitch slap from a higher power, I have the mother of all epiphanies.  In this moment, this breath, it’s clear how life would be without Hank.  It’s a sucker punch to the gut, sucking the breath straight from my chest.  Losing him would be another epic failure on my part.

Paisley and Hank:  “Thanks for waiting for me.”
“I never had a choice. I’ve always been yours.” ❤

Dying Commitment by S.M. Butler

The Synopsis & My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading  an ARC-Early Copy of ‘DYING COMMITMENT (Lucky Thirteen series book #3)’:

I have been reading and reviewing ARC early-copies of The Lucky Thirteen Series novels’ and I have to say, each story is great and entertaining. This review is for the third novel of the series titled “Dying Commitment” and it follows the story of Former NSA Agent Cadence Long and Navy SEAL Dylan Urban. The story is written from both of their P.O.V.’s(point of views).

The former NSA Agent Cadence Long had a young promising career in the NSA, up until she was betrayed by a person she thought she could trust. Now, years later she is working with SEAL Team Thirteen as their tech-savvy go-to person and comes in handy to the team. Unfortunately, she has vengeance on her mind and she is determined to get the man that left her for dead. She now prefers to trust no one and pushes sexy SEAL member Urban’s advances away every chance she can but it becomes hard to do sometimes.

The fun, outgoing and flirtatious Navy SEAL Dylan Urban, is one of the youngest of the team and he has his eyes on Cadence Long. Ever since SEAL Team Thirteen rescued her and they both shared a passionate-steamy night together, he wants her still. He must always do his mission and put duty first but he has a sense of loyalty to Cadence, even if she is set to do everything and anything to hunt her shooter down. Urban is put on a mission to escort Cadence to track down the man who betrayed her and left her to die, who also happens to be working for the Giroux family.

Cadence Long and Dylan Urban share a strong attraction but Cadence’s hunger for revenge constantly takes precedence to her. How far will Cadence go, to find her revenge on the man who betrayed her? Will Urban break past Cadence’s wall of revenge or will it be too much for him? This exciting story takes us on a journey with one of the hot SEAL men of the Lucky Thirteen team as we go on a mission of suspense, action and romance. I do recommend this wonderful book and the entire series. Definitely worth checking out if you haven’t yet! I’m truly ready to see what’s to come next in this appealing series.

How I imagined Cadence Long and Navy SEAL Dylan Urban while reading ‘Dying Commitment’.

1 collage 2

Cadence Long’s thoughts:  Sex stayed shallow and meaningless.  It was safer that way, you know?  That way no one go hurt.  I didn’t get shot.  Life went on.  At least, that was how it was supposed to be.  Then I meet the Lucky Thirteen crew and now I had this Bambi-eyed kid following me around like a puppy.  He was cute, really good in bed.  But he didn’t understand, and I didn’t have the patience to teach him why relationships couldn’t happen.  Because feelings get you killed in our line of work.

Dylan Urban and Cadence Long:  “Then what can I do?”
“Be a friend.” The answer was surprising. She’d never even considered calling me a friend before.
“I’m always your friend, Cady.”
“But anything more than that will cause problems.”

Dylan Urban’s thoughts:  That mission that I met Cadence on, I’d been one cocky asshole. And she’d put me in my place, though I’d never have let her know it. I knew then that she was going to be mine, somehow. I just hadn’t known how incredibly difficult she’d make it for me.

Dylan Urban and Cadence Long: “I want to make you feel so good that you’ll forget everything else in the world.”
“You already do that,” I whispered, my voice a soft croak. My world was spinning out of control, not my sight but my emotions, and my senses.
“I haven’t even begun,” came the answer.

Cadence Long’s thoughts:  In the end, it was about protecting him, keeping him safe from being hurt, even if it was me from whom he had to be protected.

Dylan Urban’s thoughts:  She couldn’t really think she was going to leave without… Was that what she was trying to tell me?  Was she trying to tell me goodbye?  And I hadn’t listened?  I couldn’t let her leave like that.  We had to fix things before that.  Because if I knew anything about Cadence Long, it was that if she left, she might not come back.

You’re not supposed to want the one who torments you.

When my stepbrother, Elec, came to live with us my senior year, I wasn’t prepared for how much of a jerk he’d be.

I hated that he took it out on me because he didn’t want to be here.
I hated that he brought girls from our high school back to his room.
But what I hated the most was the unwanted way my body reacted to him.

At first, I thought all he had going for him were his rock-hard tattooed abs and chiseled face. Then, things started changing between us, and it all came to a head one night.

Just as quickly as he’d come into my life, he was gone back to California.

It had been years since I’d seen Elec.

When tragedy struck our family, I’d have to face him again.

And holy hell, the teenager who made me crazy was now a man that drove me insane.

I had a feeling my heart was about to get broken again.

Stepbrother Dearest is a standalone novel.

**Contains graphic sexual content and harsh language.  It is only appropriate for adult readers age 18+
