My ‘Blogging Readers Review’ after reading ‘Misalliance’ (A Death Dwellers MC Series – Novella #4.5):

***WARNING: Possible SPOILERS if you haven’t read the previous Novels/Novellas of the Death Dwellers MC Series.***

This is the latest in The Death Dwellers MC Series by Kathryn Kelly. There is always so much raw and emotional scenes in this series and this latest installment delivers more about the gritty and tumultuous lives of those in the MC while focusing on the relationships surrounding Kendall and Johnnie. “Misalliance” is written from four P.O.V.’s(point of views). The two main P.O.V.’s are from Johnny “John-Boy” Donovan and Kendall “Red” but we also get a little from Club President Christopher “Outlaw” Caldwell and MC brother Louis “Stretch” King.

Kendall left on the day that Johnny had planned to marry her and was going to let her know that he would build her a home. There has been so many ups and downs in their relationship. The downs have been some of the worst things to have to deal with especially when you’re insecure, emotionally damaged and come from such terrible settings as Kendall had. From dealing with the loss of their “Baby Biker”, to hostile jealousy, never feeling adequate enough because of a retched mother and bullies that still haunted her from her past. Kendall and Johnny had parted ways. Now, Kendall has returned only to find out that Johnny seems to have completely moved on and may have very well closed his heart to her.

Johnny “John-Boy” Donovan was on the mend from having his heart broken by Kendall when she left him. She’s carrying his baby so he was set on trying to win her back but so many things happened that made him stop the search. So many people telling him to leave her alone. So he did just that in the only ways he knew how to, and that was have meaningless sex, drinking and partying. But inside, Johnny was still battling the feelings he still carried. The anger and frustration he felt for the woman he loved…still. Possibly. Maybe. He’s just trying hard to not give in. Now with his occasional hook-up Sherilyn, he tries to hard to get lost in that to get passed Kendall. But will it really work?

With the fears lingering in the air still about where the Death Dwellers MC former brother “Digger” was as well as the so-called preacher, the club and their women had to be careful. Johnnie and Kendall have so many things they have to deal with. When they reunite will there be too much hostility to ever see eye to eye? Does love ever really have a chance to conquer all, even in the lifestyle of an MC member? Other problems arise in the club that bring to light how diverse their brothers really are and who can stay loyal regardless.

Expect the Death Dwellers MC to be what it always promises to be: chaotic, engrossing, gritty, sexy and utterly entertaining. Kendall is still her imperfect and annoying self but we see more sides to her in this book and it definitely brings her relationship with Johnnie to it’s finality that seemed perfect. This is still one of my favorite MC series’ so I do recommend it but just remember, it’s definitely for mature readers only. Plus, readers will get exclusive Bonus Chapters from Kendall’s and Johnnie’s P.O.V.’s from these past books of this series: Misappropriate, Misbehavior and Misjudged. Check this one out. It’s out now! 🙂

MEMORABLE QUOTES & LINES FROM ‘MISALLIANCE’

Kendall’s thoughts:  Perhaps, I don’t know what love is. I know what survival is. I learned to fight back with tit-for-tat spite. I learned to get ahead, be noticed, through sex. Most of all, I learned I could only rely on myself in the long-run. Therein is the problem…!

Kendall’s thoughts:  He was going to be a wonderful father and husband. Even now, in all his fury, he’d been watching her so closely he saw the ripple of her belly through her thin dress. The revelation thrilled her. She didn’t have to manipulate him into noticing her. He was aware of her, but he was just too stubborn to admit it.
“Yes it moved.”
Smiling, he walked over and sat, laying his big hand on her belly, not asking permission to do so. She carried his child, so he’d consider it his right to touch her. The baby moved again.
“Fuck,” he said around a laugh, then sobered and stared into her eyes. Desire flashed in his, but he blinked it away.

Johnnie’s thoughts:  Kendall meant much more than that to him: he mother of his child, the woman who infuriated him. And the one he’d always love.

Val to Johnnie about Outlaw:  “He wants her dead, but he wants you happy. The only thing Outlaw ever look at when he see Kendall is one of two things. Your old lady or her taking her last breath. But we both know that wasn’t the case with you and Meggie. She might not have been in love with you, but your dick had her pretty fascinated. Another thing Johnnie? Every time he pulled his nine on you, he hesitated to fire. You didn’t. You want to question fucking loyalty, go look in the fucking mirror.”

A reality check from Roxy(Morticians Mother-in-law/Bailey’s mother) to Kendall:  “A degree doesn’t make a man or a woman. Personality does and from where the fuck I’m sitting, you’re sorely lacking in one, if you’re taking jabs at Meggie. In case it hasn’t dawned on you, yet, you’re making an ass of yourself, while Meggie’s busily living her life. You need to get the fuck over it and her.”

Kendall’s thoughts:  Despite how much she adored Johnnie, Kendall had never known a love like she felt towards her baby boy. She’d always mourn her sister’s and mother’s loss. But she no longer wondered why Marie had never loved her as a mother should. That had been her mom’s responsibility, not Kendall’s. Each horrible moment she’d gone through had brought her to this one.
