The Synopsis:

They say everyone’s a superhero to someone. I’m not sure who I’m supposed to save, but I know who saved me.

We were kids. His name was Christopher. And up until the day he pulled me from death’s grip, he was nothing more than a boy I felt sorry for. In a blink of an eye, he became the only person who made me feel safe.

And then he disappeared.

Now I’m seventeen. I’m not a kid anymore. I haven’t been for years. While death didn’t take me that day, the things that happened left me with scars—the kind that robbed me of everything I once loved and drove me into darkness. But more than anything else, that day—and every day since—has taken away my desire to dream.

I wasn’t going to have hope. I wouldn’t let myself wish. Those things—they weren’t for girls like me. That’s what I believed…until the new boy.

He’s nothing like the old boy. He’s taller and older. His hair is longer, and his body is lean—strong and ready for anything. I don’t feel sorry for him. And sometimes, I hate him. He challenges me. From the moment I first saw him standing there on the baseball field, he pushed me—his eyes constantly questioning, doubting…daring. Still, something about him—it feels…familiar.

He says his name is Wes. But I can’t help but feel like he’s someone else. Someone from my past. Someone who’s come back to save me.

This time, though, he’s too late. Josselyn Winters, the girl he once knew, is gone. I am the threat; I am my worst enemy. And he can’t save me from myself.

My ‘Blogging Reader’s ARC-Review’ after reading ‘A BOY LIKE YOU’ by Ginger Scott:

A Boy Like You is the latest novel by the amazing author Ginger Scott. Ginger said that this novel was a little different than her previous work and I have to say she has struck gold with this one. Once I completed reading this, one thought came to mind: Mind blown! This novel is a part of the Young Adult genre and is a Contemporary Romance but honestly, this story goes beyond those general genres with its amazing delivery. A Boy Like You is written from the main character’s P.O.V.(Point of view), Josselyn “Joss” Winters.

Josselyn Winters lived a normal childhood full of fun memories with her best friend Taryn. It started off as a normal day hosting fun races with her friends Taryn and Kyle, their fellow classmates, and even the weird-quiet kid Christopher. Her world of normal was all shattered one day when she hears her parents arguing in their room. It rips Josselyn’s world apart. When a terrible ordeal puts Josselyn in danger, an unexpected hero rescues her from what could have become a tragedy. But as quickly as he becomes her safety he just as quickly disappears.

Josselyn, now 17, isn’t the same girl she was 8 years ago. She’s a great shortstop softball player and tends to make risky choices from time to time. She has a broken and terrible relationship with her father. She meets some guys at the nearby baseball field with her best friend Taryn and it ends up being a fun meet up. Joss and Taryn’s interests are piqued when they find out that the three guys will be attending their school this year. One boy in particular draws Josselyn’s interest the most. He’s quiet, confident, and Josselyn can’t help her attraction to this new enigma named Wes Stokes.

For Joss, there’s something very intriguing about the new guy Wes. And there is something strangely familiar about him as she gets to know him better. He reminds her of someone she used to know a long time ago. While Joss tends to make dangerous and risky choices, Wes quickly tries to get her to stop making so many risky choices but Joss is stubborn. Even so, Wes has a way of getting Joss to think twice. As Joss and Wes grow closer, she can’t help but notice and begin to question strange occurrences when it comes to Wes. After something happens flipping all of their lives upside down and shattering their normal existences, where will this lead their lives? Will Josselyn be able handle all of these overwhelming changes?

As a reviewer who’s always adored Ginger Scott’s great stories, I have to say that this one really sent me on an extremely intense and emotional journey. I was overwhelmed, consumed, and completely captured by this riveting novel and the fierce and love-able characters. Just when the reader thinks they’ve reached their HEA, you realize there is so much more that remains in Joss and Wes’s story. I absolutely, without a shadow of a doubt, highly recommend this novel wholeheartedly. Please note, this is not the end of Joss and Wes’s story, so be ready for more in the Summer of 2017!! You will definitely not be disappointed. Yes, there is a cliffhanger but trust me, it’s worth it! Please check this one out today! LOVED the heck out of this! One of my new favorites, by far! ❤

MEMORABLE QUOTES & LINES FROM ‘A BOY LIKE YOU’

Josselyn’s thoughts:  When I was younger, I would fall asleep imagining him holding me, tugging my blanket tightly around my body to feel safe -the way I felt in his arms, in the only real hug I’d ever had. I haven’t done that in years…until last night.

Josselyn’s thoughts on Wes:  His eyes stay on me for a few more seconds, and I dive into them, finding the familiar. I don’t even care if it’s make believe at this point. I’m overcome with his strength and the feel of his embrace, and I do something that I regret the moment it starts.
I cry.

Wes and Joss:  “I love the way you see me. I do,” he says, his breath held until the last second when he painfully exhales, and his shoulders fall along with his hand from my face. “You make me want to live up to your expectations. I’m afraid I’ll disappoint them, thought.”
“I don’t have any expectations. Wes. I learned about disappointment a long time ago. I just wanted you to know I appreciate what you did. that’s all,” I say.

The Synopsis:

Fractions of seconds can do lots of damage. One decision can ruin lives. A blink can be tragic. And loving a Hollister…can hurt like hell.

I would know.

They say the average person can hold their breath under water for two full minutes when pushed to the extremes. Will Hollister has been holding his for years. The oldest of two elite swimming brothers, Will was always a dominant force in the water. But in life, he preferred to let his younger brother Evan be the one to shine.

Evan got the girl, and Will…he got to bury all of the secrets. A brother’s burden, the weight of it all nearly left him to drown.

The daughter of two Olympians, my path was set the day my fingertips first touched water. My future was as crystal clear as the lane I dominated in the pool—swim hard, win big, love a Hollister.

My life with Evan burned bright. He gave me arms to come home to, and a smile that fooled the world into believing everything was perfect. But it was Will who pushed me. Will…who really knew me.

And when all of the pieces fell, it was Will who started to pick them up.

In the end, the only thing that matters are those few precious seconds—and what we decide to do while we still have them in our grasp.

______

My ‘Blogging Reader’s ARC-Review’ after reading ‘HOLD MY BREATH’ by Ginger Scott:

This amazing new stand-alone novel “Hold My Breath” by author Ginger Scott is something to definitely read next. Author Ginger Scott is one of my favorites because she is awesome at blending a sports related aspect into an intriguing romantic story. “Hold My Breath” is written from the two main characters’ P.O.V.’s(point of views) which are Will Hollister and Maddy Woodsen.

Will Hollister is a swimmer, it’s what he was raised to know and what he was always good at. He is set to train, compete and to eventually follow his dream of becoming a professional swimmer. He’s been carrying a guilt inside that he put there himself due to the life changing events that he, himself, barely survived. His brother, Evan Hollister, have always shared the love of swimming growing up and gaining praise for their talents, while carrying similar dreams. There’s one person that Will and Evan have a long history with as well. She’s someone they grew up with, trained with, that seemed to bond with them both but Evan seemed to win her over. She’s now, also the one girl that makes Will feel things that he doesn’t think he should be allowed to feel. Her name is Maddy Woodsen.

Maddy Woodsen grew up around swimmers all of her life, which pretty much sealed it for her to be a talented swimmer as well. The childhood friendship and competitiveness she developed between herself and the Hollister brothers, lasted for years. That was, until tragedy changed everything. Now, that the Hollister family dynamic has changed completely, and Will Hollister is due to return after four years away, how will Maddy feel seeing him after everything again? Can Maddy deal with seeing Will again after so long or will he bring her pain?

Not only do these two have to learn to work and train near each other again, but Will may have some secrets that he’s not ready to share right off. What are Will’s secrets? Why does he travel to Indianapolis constantly? When Maddy finds out the truth, how will she handle it? This story will take you on a journey of heartbreak, a growing bond, and the struggle to gain a triumph after tragedy. Life deals challenges to Will, and Maddy may be the only one who can truly help him, if he ever is willing to let her in. I recommend this read for those who can appreciate a wonderful story about life, love, and living with hard choices. This was an enjoyable and riveting novel that really will pull at your heart-strings for multiple reason. It’s truly worth checking out as your next read! ❤

The Hard Count 2

The Synopsis:

**A new stand-alone mature YA football romance from Ginger Scott releases July 15, 2016**

Nico Medina’s world is eleven miles away from mine. During the day, it’s a place where doors are open—where homes are lived in, and neighbors love. But when the sun sets, it becomes a place where young boys are afraid, where eyes watch from idling cars that hide in the shadows and wicked smoke flows from pipes.

West End is the kind of place that people survive. It buries them—one at a time, one way or another. And when Nico was a little boy, his mom always told him to run.

I’m Reagan Prescott—coach’s daughter, sister to the prodigal son, daughter in the perfect family.
Life on top.
Lies.
My world is the ugly one. Private school politics and one of the best high school football programs in the country can break even the toughest souls. Our darkness plays out in whispers and rumors, and money and status trump all. I would know—I’ve watched it kill my family slowly, strangling us for years.

In our twisted world, a boy from West End is the only shining light.
Quarterback.
Hero.
Heart.
Good.
I hated him before I needed him.
I fell for him fast.
I loved him when it was almost too late.

When two ugly worlds collide, even the strongest fall. But my world…it hasn’t met the boy from West End.

My ‘Blogging Reader’s ARC-Review’ after reading ‘THE HARD COUNT’ by Ginger Scott:

“The Hard Count” is a lovely stand-alone novel by author Ginger Scott. The story-line is a coming-of-age story with wonderful characters that each have charisma and bring something intriguing to the novel. This story is a part of the Young Adult genre with a nice mix of sports aspects and contemporary romance to it. “The Hard Count” is written from the two main characters’ P.O.V.’s(point of views) which are Nicolas “Nico” Medina and Reagan Prescott.

Nico Medina grew up in a part of town where traditions exist, neighbors know each other well, but it also became a place where danger lurks sometimes around the corner. Nico would not allow himself to give up and give in to what his older brother Vincent became a part of for a while. It wasn’t easy but he knew it was not what he wanted in life. So for now, he’d keep his head down, not draw attention to himself, and try to survive in a place where stray bullets could find you at any given moment in the East End side of town. Now with the potential to have a promising future in a shool 11-miles away, can he do more than what’s expected for someone that comes from a tough part of town? Will Nico be able to keep away from the trouble or will it find him one way or another? And what secret burdens, weight and talent does Nico hide?

Reagan Prescott is the twin sister to a quarterback brother, the daughter of the school’s football coach and a socialite mother. As she works on making good grades, making her documentary meant to help get her into her dream school, and getting through the trials of high school, she has one person who makes the ride bumpy. His name is Nico. He debates her, he is arrogant and he’s not afraid to show his dislike for Reagan. As Reagan learns more about Nico, she begins to realize that not everything or everyone is what they seem to be. Will Reagan’s life change for the better or fall apart due to unforeseen challenges?

This story is such an enjoyable, compelling, and entertaining read about growing up, potentially finding someone special, and of course the great game of football! Author Ginger Scott always finds a way to intertwine beautiful romance with an enthralling blend of sports entertainment. I recommend “The Hard Count” for readers who can enjoy a wonderful story that shines hope on sometimes difficult situations such as this story that brings to light issues involving a some race issues as well as title/reputation issues. Very fascinating! Check this one out indeed! 🙂

The Synopsis:

Casey Coffield has a growing list of personal flaws he keeps locked away in his head:
He’s never on time.
His list of IOUs to his best friend is endless.
Money is always short.
Goals are never in reach.

Oh, and he’s decided to add college drop-out to that list, too. He doesn’t really think that last one’s such a bad thing, but his family insists it is, so it stays on the list.

On paper, he’s a zero. But in person, when he’s mixing tracks for a sea of bodies at the hottest clubs and parties, he’s downright irresistible. Just-right stubble on his chin, body of a boxer and a smirk that stimulates all the right nerves—women have never been a problem. They flock to his swagger and fall for his charm…fast.

All except for this one.

Purple hair, gray eyes, a raspy voice and sass, Murphy Sullivan is a little bit country and a little bit rock-n-roll. And her and Casey? They have history. He can’t remember it, but she wrote a song about him—and it’s not exactly a love song. But it is good. Damn good. And uncovering her inspiration just might be the key to solving a few of his shortcomings—not to mention open doors to his own big break in the music industry.

But sometimes dreams get messy when they collide. Sometimes life changes patterns. A past paints the wrong picture and futures get cloudy. The only question that remains is who will you choose when the dust settles—you? Or the girl of your dreams?

** This book is a Falling Series spin-off. It can be read as a standalone. **

______

My ‘Blogging Reader’s ARC-Review’ after reading ‘IN YOUR DREAMS’ by Ginger Scott:

This is technically the 4th novel of The Falling Series but can be read as a Spin-Off Standalone novel titled “In Your Dreams” by Author Ginger Scott. This novel is of the New Adult genre as well as being a Contemporary Romance story. In Your Dreams is written in the two main character’s P.O.V.’s(point of views), Casey Coffield and Murphy Sullivan.

Casey Coffield has his own dreams that don’t fit with the way his meticulous and over-achiever parents choose to live, particularly his father. It’s almost the complete opposite. His father is a workaholic and had plans for Casey to follow in his footsteps as most of his sisters did, to be an engineer. Casey on the other hand, made plans for himself. He manages to live on his own while pursuing his dream. He loves music and to make music magic, while mixing great sounds together like the talented DJ that he is.

When Casey’s roommate Eli, gives him a link to a video, he’s thrown into a tailspin of questions and curiosity. In that video, all he has is a voice, lyrics with his name in it, and a place he knows nothing about. Who is this girl singing such heartfelt words with the beautiful voice in the shadowy video? On top of dealing with this question, he finds out some major family news to add to the mix of twists in his life.

Murphy Sullivan has been trying to perfect her singing and songwriting talent. The dimly-lit place “Paul’s” that she does open-min-night at has been feeding her craving to perform without the worry of being open and in front of a spotlight. When someone from her past shows up one night to open-mic-night, she knows that it’s probably because of her brother Lane’s video he posted of her performance.

Casey has fallen for the voice of the girl with purple hair. He sees her talent and as a music-mixologist, he plans to try to bring attention to her voice. While pursuing her for her talent, he can’t ignore the ever-growing feelings he’s getting for Murphy. But it all comes back to: Why did Murphy write a song about Casey Coffield? What is their history and why doesn’t he even remember her from high school?

There is a history there between Murphy and Casey that may not be what we expect and sometimes, the smallest influence we make on someone can become a huge influence on their life choices. Casey was always the popular guy through high-school and never a bad looking guy. Murphy usually just blended in with the background in high-school and never really stood out due to her insecurities. When these two meet, things take a turn in both of their lives that will lead them both down a path of choices and possibilities, while also having to face their fears. “In Your Dreams” is a sweet and enchanting story about finding yourself and finding someone that may not be what they seemed but truly becomes special along the way. Check out this wonderful story if this sounds like your kind of love and life story. 🙂

Casey’s thoughts & mystery girl’s lyrics:  She could be just about anyone, but I swear I don’t know this girl. The strumming of the guitar starts soft, and then her voice comes in. “Shadow of a girl, lurking in other people’s shadows…let her go by, let her dance along…”  This girl– whoever the hell she is– she’s an artist. I can also tell when she’s about to sing again, because her form leans in toward the mic. “In your dreams… Casey Coffield.”

Casey’s thoughts:  I know the fact that I’m walking away with only a semester left on my degree for some pipe dream will disappoint both of my parents, but it feels right. And maybe there’s some small part of me that sees the fantasy playing out to an end where I get to show my family how successful I am– and they’re proud.

Murphy’s thoughts:  I love that song. I wrote it as a way to clean out a lot of crap left over in my head, old feelings and frustrations from high school. It’s been four years, and really– I’m over most of it. But there are still those days where a thought penetrates my daily routine, and I think about how I never quite fit in. It’s partly my fault; I didn’t want to fit in.

Murphy and Casey:  “You don’t remember me?”
He may be charming as hell, but damn if he’d bad at poker faces. “Oh. My. God. You don’t remember me!”
“I sort of remember you,” he stammers, walking behind me to the front door.
…I want Casey gone. “You are such a…”
“I’m a lot of things. I know, trust me. I’ve been told,” he says. I laugh at first, but his eyes meet mine in a small struggle with the door, and there’s a certain unfiltered honesty in them that I must give him credit for.

Casey’s thoughts:  I want to see her dance. I wait just long enough, smiling at her and moving my head along with the vibe until I feel it in my gut. There’s always a moment- it’s what makes me good. I’ve had it since the first time I touched a soundboard. This is the high I was talking about, and Murphy- she’s there. I’m about to be her undoing without even laying a hand on her.

Murphy and her best friend Sam:  My college boyfriends were boring, my high school ones non-existent. Damn it all to hell if I haven’t just shot straight into scintillating territory for her with Casey! “Fine, I have a little crush,” I say, my voice jumping eight octaves, my shoulders shrugging to my ears. Stamp guilty on my forehead.
“You don’t have a little crush, Murph. You freaking have the hots for Casey Coffield!” she practically cackles. “Oh and girl…mmmmm… he’s got it back. I know it!”

Casey and Murphy:  “I will celebrate half birthdays, plaster on those weird-ass nose strips, and rock out to hair bands with you every night if that’s what you’d like to do.”
“I’d like that very much, Casey Coffield. I may even write a song about it,” she says against my lips, and my impatient mouth takes over, kissing her and pressing her body into the still-scratched car door that marks the first time she stole my heart more than a year ago. She’s never gotten it fixed, and I’ve never been the same.

Synopsis for ‘IN YOUR DREAMS’:

Casey Coffield has a growing list of personal flaws he keeps locked away
in his head:
He’s never on time.
His list of IOUs to his best friend is endless.
Money is always short.
Goals are never in reach.

Oh, and he’s decided to add college drop-out to that list, too. He doesn’t
really think that last one’s such a bad thing, but his family insists it
is, so it stays on the list.

On paper, he’s a zero. But in person, when he’s mixing tracks for a sea of
bodies at the hottest clubs and parties, he’s downright irresistible.
Just-right stubble on his chin, body of a boxer and a smirk that
stimulates all the right nerves—women have never been a problem. They
flock to his swagger and fall for his charm…fast.

All except for this one.

Purple hair, gray eyes, a raspy voice and sass, Murphy Sullivan is a
little bit country and a little bit rock-n-roll. And her and Casey? They
have history. He can’t remember it, but she wrote a song about him—and
it’s not exactly a love song. But it is good. Damn good. And uncovering
her inspiration just might be the key to solving a few of his
shortcomings—not to mention open doors to his own big break in the music
industry.

But sometimes dreams get messy when they collide. Sometimes life changes
patterns. A past paints the wrong picture and futures get cloudy. The only
question that remains is who will you choose when the dust settles—you? Or
the girl of your dreams?
