‘THIS IS FALLING’ by Author Ginger Scott.

This Is Falling by Ginger Scott

Synopsis for ‘THIS IS FALLING’:

First, I had to remember how to breathe. Then, I had to learn how to survive. Two years, three months and sixteen days had passed since I was the Rowe Stanton from before, since tragedy stole my youth and my heart went along with it.

When I left for college, I put a thousand miles between my future and my past. I’d made a choice—I was going to cross back to the other side, to live with the living. I just didn’t know how.

And then I met Nate Preeter.

An All-American baseball player, Nate wasn’t supposed to notice a ghost-of-a-girl like me. But he did. He shouldn’t want to know my name. But he did. And when he learned my secret and saw the scars it left behind, he was supposed to run. But he didn’t.

My heart was dead, and I was never supposed to belong to anyone. But Nate Preeter had me feeling, and he made me want to be his. He showed me everything I was missing.

And then he showed me how to fall.

Author Q&A with Ginger Scott

Thank you to Author Ginger Scott for taking a moment to do a 2nd Q&A with me in preparation for your upcoming novel release of ‘THIS IS FALLING.’

Q: What can you share with us about your upcoming novel ‘This Is Falling’, beyond what the synopsis offers?

Ginger Scott:  I really think ‘Waiting’ fans are going to love ‘This Is Falling.’ I was craving writing a college story, and I love all of the newness that comes with a freshman year. College is like boot camp for becoming an adult, but at first, you’re still so unsure of everything, like you’re caught in the middle. Rowe, my heroine, has a lot of extra things going on, too. I can’t give it all away, but she’s trying to grow up but terrified to at the same time. Nate, my hero, is such a good guy, and I really wanted to make him worthy. Maybe it’s because I love baseball so much, and Nate’s a baseball player, but he just had to be good for the soul. And as much as we get to see Rowe fall for Nate, we also get to see Nate make it all happen. And I think others are going to fall for him, too.

Q: Can you give us a little more of the back-story behind the main characters Rowe and Nate?

Ginger Scott:  Hmmmmm, I don’t want to give too much away, because getting to know them is a wonderful part of the ride. Let’s just say Rowe is smart but shell-shocked, and she’s just on the cusp of learning how to dare and challenge herself when we get to meet her. Nate, well he is my Captain America–all warm and fuzzy and chewy and pretty much perfection wrapped up in one hot body. He’s the kind of guy that loves his parents, loves his brother, and is loyal to a fault. I can also tell you that they are two of the funniest characters I’ve written. I laughed so hard at one conversation between the two that I actually teared up.

Q: Your ‘Waiting On The Sidelines Series’ had Reed who played football and ‘Blindness’ had a former motorcross star named Cody and this New upcoming novel ‘This Is Falling’ will have a main character who is a baseball player. I personally enjoy a great story where there is a hot athlete involved, anytime.  Are there ever real life athletes in your mind when you bring to life these wonderful athletic characters in your stories? If so, can you share with us who they are. 🙂

Ginger Scott:  I am an ESPN junkie. I love sports–all sports. And I grew up playing hard and playing with the boys. I think that’s why I love male athlete characters so much–I get them and feel like I can be authentic with them. As for real-life inspirations, absolutely. It’s sort of a mashing up of various athletes I watch and admire. With Reed in ‘Waiting on the Sidelines,’ I don’t think there was a specific person who inspired him, but more my love of high school football and that world. With Cody in ‘Blindness,’ I was able to know a lot about freestyle motocross thanks to a friend who’s son is one of the major X-gamers (Nate Adams). We watch a lot of Nate in our house. And baseball…ah, that’s my wheelhouse. When I wrote Nate Preeter in ‘Falling,’ I drew inspiration from the hundreds of ASU baseball games I’ve been to, and while there isn’t a specific player that is Nate, if you will, there is one that maybe sparked the idea for him in the beginning. And Nate’s a catcher–because Buster Posey is the bomb, and he’s a catcher, too!

Q: Future Novel question: Since sports seems to be a big influence to you, do you have an idea of what kind of athlete you may be writing about next?

Ginger Scott:  My next novel is a companion to ‘This Is Falling.’ It will feature Nate’s brother, Ty, who plays a big role in ‘Falling.’ The Falling Series will tell three stories when complete, each able to be read as a stand-alone, but with characters that connect.

Q: You have definitely succeeded multiple times in the Contemporary Romance, New Adult and Young Adult genres with your novels.  Would you ever consider trying your hand at a completely different genre such as Paranormal, Thriller, Fantasy or any other genre?

Ginger Scott:  I have thought about that many times, especially paranormal. My husband is a HUGE fantasy and paranormal fan, so I would have to come up with something truly unique or else I would never hear the end of it. I have an idea that I’ve made notes on, but it’s still very young. It needs to grow up a little more. Maybe, though…maybe one day.

Q: One more question about your upcoming novel before we end this Q&A.  Will ‘THIS IS FALLING’ be a standalone or will it be a part of a series?

Ginger Scott:  In a way, both. It will be a standalone that connects to other books on other characters, something I’ve always wanted to do. The follow up, featuring Nate’s brother Ty, will be out at the end of 2014.

NOTE: Once again, an immense thank you to Author Ginger Scott for participating in another Q&A with me and for sharing your delightful responses.  Next, comes the excitement of reading and posting my review for your upcoming-novel ‘This Is Falling’.  I’m certain this novel will be as engrossing and compelling as your past work! 🙂

If I Stay by Gayle Forman book 1

The Synopsis & My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading ‘IF I STAY (Book #1)’:

***WARNING: May contain minor SPOILERS while explaining the synopsis.***

‘If I Stay’ is the first novel of the two-book series known as the ‘If I Stay Series’ by author Gayle Forman.  This story is quite compelling because of what occurs within the first couple of chapters of the book to the main character, Mia Hall and her family.  The story is written in Mia’s P.O.V.(point of view) and shifts between the present and past memories that she recalls during her ordeal.

Mia Hall is a young teenage girl who loves to play her cello and enjoys classical music.  She is quite talented and has a chance at a bright and promising future.  She’s beautiful but not in the ‘trying too hard to be’ kind of way. Her best friend is Kim Schein, who many have referred to as her twin because of their similar looks and brunette hair.  Mia’s family is close and loving; her parents are open-minded people who love their children like crazy and her younger brother, Teddy, is your typical adorable fun-loving kid.

Then there is Adam Wilde.  Adam is in a band called Shooting Star and owns the stage with his confident presence.  He also happens to be Mia’s boyfriend. They have been in a loving relationship that makes little sense to those who don’t see how they mesh well together but their relationship works well because of their mutual love for music and for each other.  He is punk-rock and she is classical but their differences blend well because of how mature beyond its years their romantic relationship is.

Mia seems to have it all: music talent, a bright future, a true best friend, a supportive family and a loving boyfriend.  It was all perfect… perfect until the crash.  The crash changes everything and life will never be the same.  Mia’s family is met with so much tragedy and such a trying-time for those that love the Hall family.

Possible Spoilers Here:  While Mia lies comatose in a hospital — Mia comes to realize that she isn’t walking and observing her bedside visitors in the regular way.  She has been having an out-of-body experience ever since she awoke at the crash site.  While she witnesses how her extended family members and friends handle how the crash has effected Mia’s family, her mind begins to flashback through memories from her life.  In those memories and in certain moments in the hospital, Mia is given the chances to see what there is to still live for.

‘If I Stay’ is truly both heartwarming and heartbreaking.  The story will definitely send you through an emotional ride as you get to know these characters in the present and in the past, through Mia’s memories. Mia is left with huge choices. Which life changing choice will she make? Love is definitely powerful and so is family and the strong relationships we make in life.  I truly recommend this novel because it is a very touching read and the mildly quirky characters make it a unique read on top of the emotions it evokes. Read this one before the book to movie adaptation hits the big screen in August of 2014.

Hideaway Cove by Anna Sullivan

The Synopsis:

Some passions can’t be denied…

Jessi Randal walked away from her last relationship with a baby and a broken heart. Now, years later, the last thing this single mom wants is to give Windfall Island—and all its nosy residents—anything more to gossip about. But the moment she lays eyes on the tall, sexy stranger with the slow Southern drawl, she knows she’s in delicious trouble . . .

Holden Abbot is on the island to find the missing heir to the Stanhope family fortune. It’s his job to charm as many secrets out of the town as possible. And if he can charm Jessi into his bed, even better. When all evidence points to her as the heir, a dangerous enemy sets his sights on Jessi and her son. Now Holden will have to risk everything to protect the family he’s come to love.

My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading ‘HIDEAWAY COVE (Windfall Island Series book #2)’:

I had the chance to read and review an ARC early-copy of the second novel ‘HIDEAWAY COVE’ of the Windfall Island Series by Anna Sullivan.  The story is a Contemporary Romance novel with a little bit of suspense and mystery in the storyline, making it an enjoyable read.  You’ll be reading the story through seven P.O.V.’s(point of views) which include: Jessi Randal, Holden Abbot, Sheriff George Boatwright, Maggie, Lance, Benji and Paige.

We first meet single mother, Jessica ‘Jessi’ Randal, who works for Windfall Island’s only charter plane company piloted by her best friend Maggie Solomon.  Jessi has a young son named Benji who she has raised on her own, with the help of her late mother, who she tries to follow in her ways.  Jessi is a beautiful woman with auburn hair and a very sweet personality.  She became pregnant as a teen and at one point was the talk of the town, for getting pregnant by her teenage boyfriend Lance, who ended up leaving Jessi behind while pregnant with Benji.

Holden ‘Hold’ Abbot is a visitor in Windfall Island during an off season.  He isn’t a typical visitor with his Southern voice and his tall and handsome looks.  Hold is there for a reason.  He is on the island to do genealogy research, in hopes to find the missing heir to the Stanhope family fortune and to see who could be Eugenia’s descendant.  Hold is charming and can be flirtatious but he keeps women at a safe distance due to a secret of his past that he doesn’t like to share.  Not even to Jessi, who he begins to grow interested in on the island.

Jessi is determined to put her son first and any romantic-love interests is the furthest thing from her mind.  Holden, for his own personal reasons, has not allowed himself to trust dating anyone because of something from his past, same with Jessi.  But what neither of them expected, was the growing attraction and interest that they begin to have with each other.  Someone returns to Windfall Island, ready to change things up with their own agenda.

This story has a decent storyline with a nice blend of romance, mystery and suspenseful-action.  It definitely picked up more in the second half, once the mystery got fully underway.  The million dollar question: who is the heir to the Stanhope family fortune?  Who is out to kill the potential heir?  Will Jessi and Hold be able to trust each other enough to give each other a real chance?  I do recommend this wonderful story for readers who enjoy a nice romance with a nice mystery tied into the storyline.  Check this nice series out if you get a chance.  🙂

How I imagined Jessi and Hold while reading ‘HIDEAWAY COVE’:

Lucy Pinder 1st housemate evicted from Celebrity Big Brother

Jessi’s thoughts:  As the tender age of seventeen, her high school diploma so fresh in her hand that the ink was still wet, she’d found herself pregnant and engaged.  Nine short months later, the boy she’d thought her soul mate had left her high and dry and she’d given birth to the real love of her life.

About Holden:  Hold wasn’t a tourist, but he was an outsider -which had proven even less tolerable to the citizens of the island.  At least the male citizens.  The women tended to be a lot more welcoming.  Rabidly so.  Except for the one he wanted to get to know.

Holden’s thoughts:  But the past, Windfall Island’s past, had also brought him to Jessica Randal, and she would take or leave the man she saw before her, the simple genealogist.  And if, a tiny little voice whispered, she learned the truth?  He’d just have to find a way to stop that from happening, until he was ready to tell her himself.

Jessi’s thoughts:  When he touched her she was lost.  So she simply put herself into his hands.  His hands were gentle at first, but when she slipped hers under his sweater his touch turned a little rough, more than a little rushed, moving over her with an urgency that echoed hers.  She liked it, liked his hands on her, and thrilled when she felt him tremble.  It meant he felt everything she felt.

Holden’s thoughts:  She looked so damn beautiful, but it wasn’t the dress that showcased her curves to perfection; it wasn’t the wreath of flowers perched so becomingly atop her madly curling hair.  It was her.  The inner light that shone from her, the kindness, the humor, the warmth.  The love.

My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading  an ARC-Early Copy of ‘MY FIRST, MY LAST’:

I’m very glad I was offered an ARC early-copy to read and review of ‘My First, My Last’.  There is just something I really enjoy about a story where love is rekindled and second chances are given when it comes to matters of the heart.  That is what ‘My First, My Last’ by Author Lacey Silks is about.  The story follows Mia and Adrian, who found love as teenagers in Vienna one summer, when Mia went to visit family. This story is told through Mia’s P.O.V.(point of view).

Mia was a teenage girl when she flew from Canada to enjoy a fun summer in Vienna, Italy with her cousins that live there.  Life was simple and easy then.  She met a sweet boy in Vienna and fell madly in love with him.  He was her first love and the guy she shared a few firsts with, that would resonate with her through out the years. She had to eventually go back home to Canada. And, as life happened, they lost touch.

Adrian Reed, was a young skinny teenaged-boy when he first met Mia when she visited Vienna.  He adored her.  During that fun-loving and innocent time, they shared as much as they could with each other because of the feelings they shared.  When Mia had to leave, he told her he’d always love her.  They even said that maybe one day, when the time was right, the stars would realign for them again.  He held onto that and his love for a young girl named Mia from then on.

As always, life happened. Years pass. Now, with a family of her own, Mia must face tough decisions about life, love, and family. With a marriage in shambles, children who need most of her attention and responsibilities, she wasn’t ready to see him again. He is tall, handsome, muscular and hotter than she remembered and he was definitely going to flip her world upside down now that he was here, in Canada, just a few feet away, in the bar, twenty-years later.

Adrian is now a very handsome and established man now. Long gone was the skinny teenaged-boy he once was, with a business and a son in college. All he’s ever thought about and wanted through the years, was his Mia, the girl who stole his heart many years ago.  He is determined to make her his again but he knows that life has its challenges.  He’s waited twenty years, and he will do anything to let her know that he is here to stay and that she is all he needs.  But will it be enough?

There are moments when I wondered if Mia and Adrian would allow their hearts to lead them where they both really wanted to be.  The story is wonderful.  It’s about that one first live that you share so many firsts with. The one you don’t see for so many years, but when you see them again, it’s like nothing had truly changed when it came to the feelings shared.  Mia feels torn between the love she lost then and the life she lives now.  Is the love they share twenty-years ago strong enough to connect them so many years later?  Will Mia give Adrian a chance or will her recent issues with relationships make her push him away?  And, can Adrian stay in Canada or will he go back to Vienna forever? Towards the end, I’ll admit it, I teared up.  I didn’t expect the turn of events at the end but I did enjoy how this story was written well enough to tug at certain emotions at the right times. And let me mention, there were some hot and sexy moments as well. I recommend this one for anyone looking for a new contemporary romance to read and enjoy!

How I imagined Mia and Adrian while reading ‘My First, My Last’:

1 collage 2

Mia’s thoughts:  It had been twenty years, almost to the day, since I’d seen him on the other side of the world.  Literally.  He lived in Europe, I lived in Toronto.  So imagine my surprise when the man I’d lost my virginity to stood less than three feet away from me, in a bar, on my girls’ night out.

Mia’s thoughts:  We lived on two different continents.  Distance was an enemy neither of us had conquered, until now.  And now my first boyfriend, lover, and best friend was sitting in front of me, looking more gorgeous than I remember.

Adrian and Mia: Adrian drew his finger along my bottom lip. “I’ve been wanting to do that since…”
“…since you saw me?”
“No, since the moment I let you leave, twenty years ago.”
“And I’d wait another hundred if I had to,” he whispered against my mouth, swiping a stray drop from the corner of my eye.

Felix to Nell:  We’d loved each other hard and deep that first time, and twenty years was a long time to hold onto that feeling.  Yet here I was, experiencing the same euphoria in Adrian’s arms as if I were fifteen again, because he was my first.  The passion we’d shared so long ago had always been locked away somewhere deep inside us, only to be released again.

Adrian to Mia: “You and me, we’re the real deal.  With a ring or without.  Please don’t ever think I’ll leave you.  I understand how sensitive you are about it, and I will wait for you until the day I die, if I have to.  You’re mine.  You always have been.  No vow or promise can mean more to me than your everyday words and what I feel when You’re with me.
