But it’s not working.
He’s broken and beyond repair.
Then Piper goes missing.

Three and Out runs through the lives of Mason and his friends while they struggle to find love and keep it in their hectic, crazy, drama twisted lives.
Not everyone is meant to be and not everyone who you think should be together, will end up together in the final installment of the Love and Sports series.
My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading ‘Three and Out’ (Love and Sport Series – Book #3):
***WARNING: Possible SPOILERS if you haven’t read the previous Novels of the Love and Sports Series.***
Upon reading “Three and Out”, my heart feels both satisfied with this series’ end but also a little sad to see it reach the finale of these crazy characters I’ve come to adore in their own ways. Meghan Quinn gave a great ending to this series with an entertaining set of twists and turns in regards to the relationships within the story. This story is written in the multiple P.O.V.’s (point of views) of Mason, Jesse, Jax, Ryker, Brooke, Hannah, Ashlin, and Piper.
If you’ve been following the series, you’ll know that the story between red-haired firecracker Piper and the two men that made the other corners of the hot love-triangle, Mason and Jax, ended badly. In book two of the series, Piper ran from Denver to hideout somewhere far away from the city after breaking her engagement to Jax and catching Mason with Brooke. The story in “Three and Out” picks up where that story leaves off. No one has heard from Piper. Everyone that has a tie to Mason, hasn’t heard a word from her and Mason feeling heartbroken acts like he is fine with her disappearing act. Mason has been doing great in football with the Stallions, going out and hooking up but no one knows that deep inside, he feels sad and broken. Will he ever see Piper again? How would he deal with that kind of situation? We get to the bottom of it all and we find out what happens to Mason and Piper in this story.
Then you have Ryker who is a hot football player with his own fashion sense, who’s childhood best friend, Ashlin becomes a part of his life again. The story for Ryker and the innocent girl he’s been crushing hard on, Piper’s friend and co-worker Hannah, picks up where it was left off in book two. Ryker has spoken with her in the past few months since she found out that her boyfriend Todd was actually a married man with a family that he never told her about. While dealing with that heartache, she used that anger to push away Ryker. All Ryker can think about is Hannah but he knows that she may not want anything to with him even though he did nothing wrong. Hannah is dealing with her feelings of having her heart broken, having her friend Piper running off when she needed her, and Ryker seeming to move on with his old BFF Ashlin, according to the magazines and tabloids. When Hannah “runs into” Ryker again, will they try to reach out to one another again or will it be too late? Will Hannah ever feel for Ryker what he’s confessed to her over and over again? Their conclusion is hashed out in “Three and Out.”
Ashlin has a history that causes her to never want a relationship. She doesn’t want to deal with the possible chances of having your heart broken; of having someone hurt you when you give yourself to them. She’s noticed Jesse, the quarterback for the Stallions and friend to Ryker and Mason. Jesse has noticed Ashlin since the first time she showed up to cheer on Ryker and he assumed that she was Ryker’s girl. For some reason Jesse can’t shake his attraction and the interest he has in Ashlin. Ashlin learns more about Jesse besides being the hot QB for the Stallions and realizes he’s not the typical womanizing and sexually driven type of guy that she expected. Jesse wants to get to know Ashlin and see if there is a chance she can become the one girl for him; Ashlin wants to hook up with Jesse but she finds out he’s sweet and looking for a relationship but she doesn’t do relationships. Will Jesse be able to change Ashlin’s mind and break past her fears of relationships? Is Ashlin willing to change her view towards relationships to give the sweet and caring Jesse a chance before their chance passes them both by?
Finally, you have an unexpected connection for Jax as well as for Mason’s ex, Brooke. They both get their chances to meet the person who works well with them. Jax was Piper’s short-lived fiance who ended up with a broken heart. Brooke was Mason’s ex, who hooked up with Mason in book two, trying to win him back. They are mixed into the story and end up finding their own love and fate along the way as well.
There are moments in “Three and Out” that made me wonder who was going to end up with who. Such a wonderful conclusion to each and every character in this series. Sometimes you don’t end up with the one you think you belong with; you end up with the one meant for you. I highly recommend this series and this novel because it is captivating, enthralling, hot as hell, and deliciously entertaining! Check it out for sure. Thank you Meghan for this great series… such a fabulous journey and awesome conclusion to the “Love and Sports Series!” 🙂

MY BLOGGING READER’S STAR RATING: ‘THREE AND OUT’ 4 1/2 out of 5 stars:
How I imagined the characters while reading ‘THREE AND OUT’:
★★★MEMORABLE QUOTES & LINES FROM ‘THREE AND OUT’★★★
Mason and Jesse: “There has to be a reason why you choose to be a hermit. What is it? Relationship with some hot piece of ass turn sour, making you into a bitter man? Hell, welcome to my life. Bitter is like fucking underwear to me, I almost always wear it, but can shuck it when I want sex.”
Laughing at Mason, Jesse said, “We can’t all be Casanova man-whores like you.”
Mason’s thoughts: Mason didn’t think of that night very often, because it was one of the biggest mistakes of his life. He was a hurting bastard the minute he heard Piper was engaged to Jax, Mason’s coach, and he turned to the wrong person, the completely wrong person. Brooke was a mistake, sleeping with her was a mistake, and now he was paying for it. He hadn’t seen or heard from Piper since he slammed the door in her face, and he had never felt emptier.
Ryker’s thoughts: He used to be the fun-loving bachelor, now he was the depressed Debbie Downer that no one wanted to be near. He couldn’t blame them; he barely wanted to be near himself. He was pathetic. He knew he was the one who left Hannah to work out her shit on her own, but damn if he still didn’t want her.
Jake and Mason: “Have you heard from Piper?”
“No,” Mason said, getting straight to the point.
“No one has,” Jake said with concern in his voice.
“What do you mean?” Mason said, as he sat up on his couch.
“Lexi’s finally starting to get worried, because it’s not like Piper to go this long without talking to anyone, so she called Piper’s parents to see if they had heard from her, and they didn’t even know she was in Denver for a while. She has disappeared, man.”
Ashlin’s thoughts: He was almost too handsome, Ashlin thought, as she looked up into his almost-black eyes. He was definitely her type. Strong, athletic, dark complexion, dark hair, and dark eyes. Tattoos were scattered over his arms like Mason, and he had a little scruff on the end of his chin. He was hot, really hot…on the field and off the field, wearing jeans and a long-sleeved Henley shirt, he was giving her a little lady wood.
Jax describing what he wants in a girl: “I’m the kind of guy who likes to have a girl in his arms after a long day on the field. I’m the kind of guy who likes to spoil the girl in his life and take care of her. I like to know that, when I’m having a bad day or when I want to just throw caution to the wind and do something crazy, I have an amazingly beautiful girl next to my side to experience that with me.”
Mason’s thoughts: When he was on the field, nothing could touch him. Not his shitty love life, which was non-existent, not the pain of knowing Piper was nowhere to be found, or the fact that, after the game, he would go home alone.
Ryker’s thoughts: He wanted to hate her, to get her out of his head, but it was impossible with those ice blue eyes baring his soul and the sweetest smile known to man looking up at him as if she just won the best prize in the world. He was a goner.
Ashlin and Jesse: “I would think the end zone is your comfort zone, giving your record, not the fifty yard line.”
Jesse laughed and replied, “True, but overall, the field is my comfort zone. It’s where I feel at peace, and if I’m honest with you, you tie my stomach in knots, in a good kind of way, and I knew that if I was on my field, I could be brave enough to hold your hand, maybe even kiss you…”
Jesse’s thoughts: Mason and Ryker always tried to get him to go out with them, but frankly, he just wasn’t interested because what he wanted was a wife, a future, not a quick bang in a broom closet…that was just not the kind of guy he was. It wasn’t in his blood.
Brooke’s thoughts: Frankly, she wasn’t even sure if they were boyfriend and girlfriend; it was so juvenile to think of such a thing, but she would like to know if they were exclusive. They’d seen each other a couple of times, but Brooke really didn’t like sharing, especially after everything that went down between her, Jax, Mason, and Piper.
Ashlin’s thoughts: She was not much of a relationship person, given the fact that everyone who ever was supposed to love her had walked away. She wouldn’t put herself in that kind of position again. Ryker got it, but he also felt bad for his friend, because she was missing out on a good thing by living in the past.
Jesse and Ashlin: “Just know this, I’m not done with you. I can’t be done with you. I said I don’t do flings, and I meant that, but I can’t just walk away. You’re in me; I feel you whenever you’re around, and there is no way I can shake that feeling. You’ll be mine at some point, Ashlin, I’m sure of it. I just have to get you to that point first.”
Hannah and Ryker: “I thought you were going to turn me down,” she admitted.
“Why the hell would I do that?”
“Because I’m so vanilla…”
“Whoa, stop right there,” Ryker said, as he started to get angry. “Whoever told you that you were vanilla?”
“No one, but it’s kind of obvious. I’m not like all the girls you used to date. I’m not a supermodel, I don’t dress like one, and I sure as hell don’t act like one.”
“And that’s what I like about you, Hannah, you’re you. I don’t want a supermodel; I want the most gorgeous woman I’ve ever set eyes on, and that’s you.”
Jesse and Ashlin: “You’re so soft…everything about you is so perfect.”
“I’m not perfect,” she mumbled.
He grabbed her face and made her look him in the eyes. “You’re my kind of perfect, Ashlin.”
And she melted.
