Only For Him by Cristin Harber

The Synopsis:

Grayson Ford and Emma Kinglsey—close since they were kids, opposites in every way. He’s the stuff high school crushes are made of, Mister Popular, and captain of every team. She’s artsy, cute, and not in his league, though fully aware of Summerland’s “I Dream of Dating Grayson Ford” support group.

I can’t say no. The girl’s had my heart since before I knew it went missing.

He hides a life of hell. His father hates him, his mother’s gone. Emma is his only savior, yet she doesn’t know her power over him. She’s the only girl he wants, the only one he could ever tell—though he won’t.

I’m stronger, bigger, more of a man than he’ll ever be, but because I ruined his life, I’ve taken his crap, his attacks, the vulgar nature of his existence.

Until she discovers Gray’s embarrassment, his humiliation. Emma fights for him, for a chance. Theirs is a Cinderella story that she believes impossible. But as the layers peel back, it’s just a guy who needs a girl in order to keep breathing.

My mind is already doodling Mrs. Grayson Ford in imaginary notebooks. He has no clue where my head is at… But, given that I didn’t see what just happened coming, maybe I have no clue where his head is at either.

My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading ‘ONLY FOR HIM’:

This is the first novella titled “Only For Him” of a four part series by Cristin Harber. I’ve never read any previous work from this author but I am now a new fan of her work because of this story. “Only For Him” is of the New Adult genre and is a Contemporary Romance story with plenty of romantic and emotionally high points. This novella is written from the two main character’s P.O.V.’s(point of views), Grayson Ford and Emma Kingsley.

Grayson Ford lives with only his father “Pops” in a trailer on the other side of town from where he attends high school. His relationship with his father is definitely not a good or healthy one. Bruises, beatings, and verbal put-downs are a regular occurrence and Grayson just takes it because he carries some sort of guilt that stems from his mother. At school, Gray is a talented athlete, swooned and adored by the girls, and popular. He seems very confident and outgoing to everyone around him but he carries very dark secrets from everyone, including his closest friends, Ryan and Emma Kingsley. Grayson has a heart full of secrets because another secret he’s held onto through the years has been how strongly he has feelings for Emma. She is the one girl that brings peace to his life and the one that keeps his mind right through all of the dark days that he’s had to endure in private.

Emma Kingsley is only eleven months younger than her well-liked brother Ryan Kingsley, which has made them close and they tend to hang around at the same parties and have mutual friends. Emma is the opposite of her brother, where he is well-dressed and popular, Emma is an artsy-casual girl. Their mutual best friend, Grayson has always been around since they were kids and is the one guy, other than her brother, that her family trusts so much.  The only thing is that Emma has kept a secret from Grayson through the years and that is the secret long-time crush she’s had for him. Is it ever a right time to tell someone your true feelings for them and is it harder to do with someone you’d hate to risk losing?

When senior year arrives, things are going the same between these two and their close friendship. Even though there is always a flurry of girls that chase him everyday, he somehow always seems to make sure to notice Emma. Then they decide to change things up.  One day, one kiss. And it changes everything. “No more stories. That’s all I’ve ever needed.” That is what he says to her which is such a turning point in the story. But as soon as they begin to open up about their feelings for each other, Gray’s dark truth is revealed. Grayson feels angry and embarrassed. He makes a decision about his future that would send his life down an entirely unexpected road. Knowing that both of their lives are headed down unpredictable paths toward the future, they decide to live it up on a fun-last vacation with friends toward the end of their senior year. This week long vacation would become a major turning point to both of their futures.

To say that this was not even a full-length novel and simply a novella, really says a lot about the story because it pulled me in. The characters were enjoyable and the storyline had pretty much most of the topics I enjoy reading about in my personal opinion. You get the first love, the feel of an unrequited love, a smidge of alpha-male persona, and a few other things that I won’t list because it would give away too much about the actual story. 🙂 Will Grayson let Emma know how much she means to him? Will Emma confess her feelings to Grayson? Are these two meant to be together or will life rip them apart? Can dark secrets ruin what could become something beautiful?

There is so much in this novella that makes it all together amazing, captivating and entertaining. This is definitely worth the read, I recommend it. I’m very anxious to get my hands on what’s next in this series. Heads Up: It ends on a major Cliff-hanger BUT the story is well worth it! That final sentence left me “mind blown!” Loved it all. The next novella of this series is out very soon. So check it out!

MEMORABLE QUOTES & LINES FROM ‘ONLY FOR HIM’

Grayson’s thoughts:  I torture myself by staying under his roof, knowing he’s the most pathetic, ruined man I’d ever met. But I made him that way, and as fucked up as it sounds, it’s the only way I think he’ll survive. I owe him that much. Long ago, Pops was normal… I was normal… Mom was alive.

Emma’s thoughts:  I focus on our friendship, our closeness. It’s been the only way I can justify the homicidal tendencies that provoke my inner ninja warrior chick every single time I see some bippy-boppy, cliquey bitch succeed in getting his attention.

Emma’s thoughts:  I can’t drink around Grayson for fear that I’ll do something stupid. And I like being their sober option because I’m pretty much their only option, and that guarantees me more time with him. I’m a Grayson Ford addict. No one would blame me though, and I’m pretty sure there’s an I Dream of Gray support group at school.

Grayson’s thoughts:  I’m trying not to bed, trying not to run, needing to touch her, taste her. But I let her words run through my head. Even if I can’t offer Emma anything that she deserves, I can’t say no. The girl’s had my heart since before I knew it went missing.

Grayson and Emma:  His eyes bore into me, removing every vulnerable layer I have. “You’re all that’s right in my head. You get that?”
No. Not a chance. “I’m whatever you need.”
He nods. His lips dance over mine. He tastes so familiar, smells like my greatest weakness. How does he have the whole world fooled?
“Emma, no joke. If I didn’t have you, I’d-” He shakes his head. “I need you, always have, in a way you’ll never know.”

The Synopsis:

Ellie Cahill is poised to coin the term “sorbet sex” with her charming twist on the age-old ‘friends-with-benefits’ story.

Dating can be fun, but it can leave a nasty taste in your mouth. For Joss, ever since her longtime boyfriend cheated on her, she doesn’t want her last memory of a guy to be that jerk. Enter her college friend, Matt. They come up with a theory: after a bad break-up, a person needs to cleanse the palate with a little sorbet sex. Lovers for a night, but always back to being friends in the morning. The two can handle it because they have a contract: rules they wrote, rules they follow and rules they can sometimes bend. The arrangement works: everyone needs a little sorbet now and again … until it starts to be the only thing you want. And then Joss breaks the one rule they never wrote down: don’t fall in love.

My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading ‘WHEN JOSS MET MATT’:

“Sorbet Sex” between two friends, what could go wrong? This becomes one loaded question in the story of “When Joss Met Matt.” This novel is an entertaining contemporary romance. The journey with these two characters through the years proves to be full of twists and turns in the dating world but with each other to fall back on, it seems to make the break ups easy to handle. Or so they seem to think. This story is written in the main female character’s P.O.V.(point of view), Jocelyn Kiel.

Jocelyn “Joss” Kiel is a pretty average college student with strawberry-blonde hair and a cute simple look to her. She decides to go to a dorm party on another floor with her roommate. Upon arriving and scoping out the crowded place, her eyes lock in on a guy standing nearby. He’s tall, with dark hair, dark eyes and a nice attractive look to him. When they make their introductions and start to chat, he seems nice but she has a boyfriend from back home and doesn’t allow anything to get a chance to progress with the new guy. Things are left on a friendly note but as the story progresses and an expected confession from her longtime boyfriend Ben surfaces, she is faced with having to deal with a broken heart. She is flung into the single world for the first time since high school.

Then you have the tall, dark and handsome college student Matt Lehrer who is fun, friendly and flirtatious in a not so obvious way. When he meets Joss, it’s as if there is an instant attraction and connection. When he finds out she has a boyfriend, he’s very respectful and ends up becoming a friend with her instead.  Their friendship continues even after Joss experiences her first heart break but then they come up with an interesting plan together.

They both begin to try out the dating scene in college and experiencing the good, the bad and the ugly through the years. But there is one constant besides friendship that they share, they have come up with a list of rules in order to be each others sorbet partner. They agree to share one night of Sorbet Sex after a break up with someone in order to “clean their palate” before they move on in the dating world again. As the question goes, what could go wrong in an arrangement made by two consenting adults?

This was an enjoyable read with plenty of satisfying moments, complicated relationship situations, and a story of friendship and love. The two main characters, Joss and Matt share not only a close friendship but also that very interesting relationship arrangement that leads to a roller coaster ride of ups and downs that spans seven years. All of this occurs during both of their individual pursuits of finding someone right for them to date without really ever considering what was always there. Their picky expectations when searching for someone to date would prove many times to be far from what they really ever knew they needed in order to find happiness in love.

This was a delightful new adult romance with plenty of emotional growth as the characters grow. Will they ever find what they’ve been searching for? What will happen when this arrangement can no longer be acceptable? And will Joss and Matt’s friendship ever be effected by the sorbet partnership? This is definitely something to add to your reading list. It has just the right amount of romantic progression and steaminess to leave you entertained but nothing dark and heavy. Check out “When Joss Met Matt” when you get a chance.

MEMORABLE QUOTES & LINES FROM ‘WHEN JOSS MET MATT’

Joss and Matt:  “Why are you so nice?” I asked. “Don’t you get tired of it?”
“What do you mean?”
“You’re, like, the nicest guy in the world. You’ll help anyone.”
He gave me his “You’re crazy” look, “No, I won’t.”
“Why are you helping me?”
“We’re friends, dumbass.”

Joss and Matt:  “Who knows? This could be the last time we do this, you know. You could meet the love of your life on the way home this morning.”
“I’d never recognize her in this weather,” he said. “Too many layers.”
“True.”
“And that would require me getting out of your bed.”
“Also true.”
“It’s frickin’ cold out there.”
“So, maybe not today.” I shrugged. “Maybe you’ll meet her tomorrow.”
“Yeah, I’ll wait.”

Joss’s thoughts:  For a few delirious moments, I wondered why I ever bothered with anyone but him. I liked the sight, the feel, the taste, and the sound of him in bed.
I liked that I could predict that even though he would hop out of bed just moments after we were done, I knew he’d come back right away and kiss me and ask if I was all right.

Joss’s thoughts:  Love was knowing someone, truly knowing him, and still wanting to be with him. Love was caring so much about another person that you willingly put his needs before your own. Love was sharing passion, history, trust. All of that, plus a fearless belief that life is better with your love than without. That everything that comes next will be made easier, happier, richer by his inclusion.

Matt and Joss:  “Do you seriously think I only notice you when we’re in bed? Give me a little credit here. I see you, Joss. I see you all the time.”
I pinched the bridge of my nose in a weak attempt to hold back tears. His unexpected vehemence overwhelmed me.
“Does that help?” he asked. “Are you still scared?”
“I’m terrified,” I confessed. “But I still want to do this. I still want to be with you, if you want to be with me.”

The Half Brother by Holly LeCraw

The Synopsis:

A passionate, provocative story of  complex family bonds and the search for identity set within the ivy-covered walls of a New England boarding school

When Charlie Garrett arrives as a young teacher at the shabby-yet-genteel Abbott School, he finds a world steeped in privilege and tradition. Fresh out of college and barely older than the students he teaches, Charlie longs to leave his complicated southern childhood behind and find his place in the rarefied world of Abbottsford. Before long he is drawn to May Bankhead, the daughter of the legendary school chaplain, but when he discovers he cannot be with her, he forces himself to break her heart, and she leaves Abbott—he believes forever. He hunkers down in his house in the foothills of Massachusetts, thinking his sacrifice has contained the damage and controlled their fates.

Nearly a decade later, his peace is shattered when his golden-boy half brother, Nick, comes to Abbott to teach, and May returns as a teacher as well. Students and teachers alike are drawn by Nick’s magnetism, and even May falls under his spell. When Charlie pushes his brother and his first love together, with what he believes are the best of intentions, a love triangle ensues that is haunted by desire, regret, and a long-buried mystery.

With wisdom and emotional generosity, LeCraw takes us through a year that transforms both the teachers and students of Abbott forever. Page-turning, lyrical, and ambitious, The Half Brother is a powerful examination of family, loyalty, and love.

My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading ‘THE HALF BROTHER’:

“The Half Brother” is the first book I’ve read from this author and it was truly such a complex and descriptive novel. The chapters in this novel are separated into three sections which are listed by the characters that are the main focus of those portions in this book by this order: May, Nick, and Anita. The story is written in mainly the P.O.V.(point of view) of Charlie Garrett but there are two other small P.O.V.’s further into the story from Anita Spooner and May Bankhead.

Charlie Garrett is an average man, in his late twenties, and a new professor at the Abbott School in Abbottsford, Massachusetts. His mother Anita and younger brother Nicky live in Atlanta where he had recently visited at the start of the story. Charlie was raised by his mother and very rich and successful step-father Hugh. Hugh helped him to get his start with great direction and helpful logic in life. Charlie remembers times in his life that were turning points and the moment when he’s reunited with his formal student, May.

May Bankhead was raised in a prominent lifestyle, a father that cared for her but with a family that sometimes didn’t fully help her feel like she belonged. She goes from young girl who looks different in features and hair color, to college student growing into her own and works to becoming an independent woman. Upon returning to Abbottsford, she visits with her former teacher Charlie Garrett and has a conversation with him as they hang out at Abbott Pond. Things seem to change and begin a long and winding journey after that brief meeting and that one kiss.

There are so many complex characters and there are many jumping points from past to present in the storyline meant to give us a better idea of how things develop. I enjoyed that this was a descriptive story and the characters were likeable but there were a few moments that felt tedious and too drawn out. What does Charlie find out about his past? Does May know the whole story about where she comes from? Is Charlie’s “perfect” younger brother really everything he is praised for being? Family secrets seem to slowly come out and once they begin to flow out to the surface, they either mend or break those that they touch. This story was decently good and the writing style was well polished.

MY BLOGGING READER’S STAR RATING: ‘THE HALF BROTHER’  3 1/2 out of 5 stars:

MEMORABLE QUOTES & LINES FROM ‘THE HALF BROTHER’

Charlie’s thoughts:  It’s ridiculously awkward and so I pour everything I can into the kiss, making her mouth and mine the only real estate that counts. She’s startled at first and then she begins to loosen and warm. I have to keep my hands on her face as ballast but I am beginning to lose myself too. May-May it’s you. It’s you.

Charlie’s thoughts:  We try to be quiet then we laugh and then we are past laughter. I’ve been formless and void but now I have shape, meaning, I am myself. I did not know how it would be, to be myself. Oh do you know. Do you know how long. Yes I know or I know you yes.

Charlie’s thoughts:  We were love. It was a thing that existed in its own time and could not be changed. And now I would be leaving that house. I would abandon it but I didn’t want to tear it down, to change the landscape of the past. I didn’t want May to know it was a place that never should have been built.

May and Charlie:  “You shouldn’t have given him to me, Charlie.”
“May-May,” I murmured. “Shhh. May-May.” I held more tightly. “I didn’t mean to.” She said something into my sweater. “Shhh.”
“Yes you did. You did.”
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry, sweetheart, I’m sorry.” I stroked her back. My cheek rested on her hair. I said, “He is the best I have.”

The Synopsis for ‘RECLAIMED’:

When the woman you love is lost, how hard will you fight to get her back?

Following the birth of her daughter, Kadence Knight finds herself in a battle she never prepared for. With desperation and unhappiness threatening to overwhelm her, a sense of hopelessness pulls her away from the one thing she has always longed for: a family.

As Nix watches his wife struggle with something he doesn’t understand, he can’t help but feel disconnected to his woman. The Kadence he once knew has drifted into the darkness. In her place is a shadow of the woman she once was, one who is fearful of the impossible…failing their daughter.

This Valentine’s Day, Nix has one goal — to reclaim the woman who gave him everything.

*Please note this is a novella and features the characters from the previous storyline.
The events of Reclaimed take place after Incandescent and Affliction. Book one and two in the Knights Rebels MC.
To get the full advantage of the story, and character development, I strongly suggest you read in order.

My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading ‘RECLAIMED’ (Knights Rebels MC Series book #2.5):

***WARNING: Possible SPOILERS if you haven’t read the previous Novels of the Knights Rebels MC Series.***

Reclaimed is novella that follows after Affliction in the Knights Rebels MC Series and picks up where those first two novels left off. This novella mainly follows the relationship of Kadence and Nix, whom we got the full story of in novel #1 titled Incandescent. The flow of the story is still great and the characters are full of emotional joy and a certain kind of torment. Reclaimed is written in the two main character’s P.O.V.’s(point of views), Kadence and Nix Knight.

Kadence Knight has always been a strong minded, beautiful, sexy and caring woman. That is just some of the reasons why Nix Knight fell in love with her hard and made her his through marriage. She let him know that he was going to be even more happy soon, with their son (Nix’s from a previous marriage) “Z” that Kadence loves also like her own, they will be adding another one to their growing family. They are both so happy about the news. Kadence has always been so loving and nurturing towards “Z”, Nix’s son and they are all excited for the new baby girl on the way. But what Kadence never planned for was the whirlwind of unexplainable emotions that she would feel after the birth of their baby. She never feels like she can do anything right, she fears that she will fail, and has been almost hands-off, leaving most of the responsibility to Nix. And when it comes to her relationship to her husband Nix, that has become strained because she has become so distant and he doesn’t know what to do for her.

Nix Knight has always been this fierce leader to his MC, a big-hearted lover, a wonderful father, a devoted husband and a man who could handle any challenges. But what can a man do when he is met with a challenge that he doesn’t know how to handle? In this novella, my heart goes out to the couple, their kids but especially Nix. He struggles to find the strong woman he married, buried deep down inside of the distant and desolately-sad shell of his wife. His son “Z” is beginning to sense that something is wrong with Kadence and this tears and Nix’s heart. With the help of their friends and family, will Nix be able to find a solution to help his wife before things get to the point of no return?

For such a quick read and average sized novella, this story packs a lot of emotions and moments that will pull you into what is going on with the main characters and their loved ones. Will Nix be able to figure out what his wife needs to help her find herself again? Will this new baby girl ever know the strong and not so frightened version of her mother? Will Nix and Kadence be able to work passed this or will this tear them apart permanently? We also get a look at the other members of the MC as well as what has been going on with Sy and Holly. I highly recommend Reclaimed and this series because your emotions will be pulled in such a strong way because this novella is packed with power. There is definitely still plenty of romance, a storyline that will hook you from the start and characters that are never one-dimensional. And yes, you still get a dose of sexy alpha-males in this plus we get a glimpse at other MC members: Beau and his need to help abused women and Jesse, who will be the main male focus of the next novel in this series. This is definitely worth the read so check it out! 🙂

Nix and Kadence:  “You ruined me, woman. Fucking ruined me. I promise you, I’m gonna be the best daddy.” I kiss her hard and she takes it all as her tears hit my lips.
“I already know, Nix. If our baby has half the love you show Z, he or she will be blessed.” She pulls back to wipe her face.
“If you show half the love you’ve shown my son, our son, then this baby will know nothing but goodness,” I counter, ’cause it’s the truth. This woman is my fucking light.

Nix’s thoughts: Hoping that eventually she will talk, because somewhere deep down inside of me, I have that sinking feeling. The one that tells me if things don’t change, I don’t know how much longer I’ll have her for. And not having Kadence in my life, is not an option. It will never be a fucking option.

Kadence’s thought: I knew I was drowning, but I didn’t want to acknowledge that I needed help. I wanted the happy family, the perfect child, and I had that, but it wasn’t what I had expected. I felt weak, but admitting failure was not an option.

Holly to Kadence: “I’ve watched Nix bring you to your highest, hold you in your darkest, save you from your lowest and he has never faltered. He has never looked away, or said it was too hard. Your man worships you. How can you not see this? Open your eyes, woman. You are here. You are here and you are living it.”

Nix’s thoughts: I knew that night, when I held her in my arms, I was going to love her. I knew then it wouldn’t be easy. With a woman like Kadence, you wouldn’t want love to be easy. I knew going in it would be fierce, raw, and by God, this woman has given me everything and then more.

Sy’s thoughts:  “You’re fuckin’ sexy.”
“Of course you say that. But you have to. You’re my husband.”
“I don’t have to fuckin’ say anythin’. I’m sayin’ it ’cause it’s the truth.”
“Well, lucky I’m not going it for you.” I reach up and bring my lips to his.
“Whatever makes you happy, baby.”
“You make me happy, Nix.”

Sy’s thoughts:  “Claim me all you like, baby. I’m yours.”
“Damn straight you are.” He rolls over, resting his bent leg over my stomach.
“And I’m yours, Kadence. Don’t ever fuckin’ forget it. You’re never gettin’ away from me, and if you did try, I’ll be here, reclaimin’ you all over again.”

The Synopsis:

Quinn is looking forward to her senior year at Poe University. She has big plans to hang out with her best friend, flirt with a certain boy genius, party at her favorite dive bar and figure out what she’s going to do after graduation with her not-so-useful art major. But that’s before she meets Luke, a hot townie who’s moved back home to help take care of his dying sister. And it’s before a weird epidemic sweeps across campus, mysteriously turning people’s eyes purple.

Is it an odd side effect from a new party drug?

Is it a rogue virus developed in a campus lab?

Is it the mark of the devil?

Soon the town starts blaming the university and the student religious group becomes frighteningly aggressive in their on-campus accusations. Quinn and Luke are caught in the middle—until a tragic accident forces Luke to reveal the one part of himself he’s kept carefully hidden. That he’s so much more than the happy-go-lucky boy next door Quinn had believed him to be isn’t a surprise…but this truth might be too dangerous for her to handle.

My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading ‘HEARTSICK’:

This is my review after reading a copy of “Heartsick” by Caitlin Sinead. This is listed in the New Adult genre but can also be listed in suspense, mystery, paranormal and romance. It was very enjoyable because of it wasn’t strictly just focusing on the romance and included other interest facets to the storyline. This novel is written in the main female character’s P.O.V.(point of view) by the the name of Quinn Bellingham.

Quinn attends Poe University and lives in a small town named Allan. The town is a blend of the local “townies” and those who attend the university. Her best friend and roommate is Mandy Malone who is the perfect example of opposites attract. It sometimes works out that way with friendships, too. Where Mandy is outgoing, flirty, and fun, Quinn is reserved, friendly, and isn’t as outgoing as her friend.

The day begins like most days, they meet up at Sally’s Bar and hang out except this time things begin to go differently. She meets a stranger with the most alluring green eyes and something about him seems to draw her in with curiosity. Soon after that, things get strange. Her best friend Mandy suddenly experiences a noticeable and drastic change in her eyes. They assume it is probably an allergic reaction to something. This one incident starts off as just one random student, then another until it begins to become a huger ordeal in the town of Allan.

The stranger with the green eyes seems like a mystery at first but he seems to be familiar to the local “townies” so Quinn realizes he must be from Allan. The stranger’s name is Luke and his life hasn’t been so easy. He was away and moved back to help care for his sister with ALS. He seems like someone Quinn could be interested in but she doesn’t want anything serious because of something in her past. Due to the events that occur from the start of this novel, the mystery quickly begins to build, making the journey and entertaining one. One that makes you want to read it and find out who it all unfolds.

This was a fairly enjoyable, intriguing, and easy read. The storyline is made to draw readers in with the mystery and suspense that mounts up pretty much from the start. The romance is there but it isn’t the focal point of the story and the way it is written out, I was okay with that. I recommend this for readers looking for something to read that isn’t hot and heavy but more of a decent mystery, with a slightly science fiction feel and a dash of romance. Get you a copy if this sounds like something right up your alley.

MEMORABLE QUOTES & LINES FROM ‘HEARTSICK’

Quinn’s thoughts:  He grabs my hand. “You could cut yourself. Let me get that.”
His sharp green eyes match his shirt. Despite his crisp buttondown, I can tell he’s a townie, an Allan original. It’s not any one thing, but the combination.

Quinn and Rashid:  “You’re a scientist. Don’t you realize this could be some kind of contagious bacteria? You have to see that, and here you are still trying to kiss me.”
Bubbling anger rises in my throat. He runs his fingers through his black hair. It flops over his confused eyebrows adorably. My face softens.
“I like you, Quinn,” he says. “And so what if it’s contagious? You aren’t sick. A lot of bacteria are good for us.”

Mandy to Quinn:  “I’m afraid I’ll make the same mistakes my mom did. Then I’ll become a shriveled up, weak version of a person who flinches when car doors are slammed. I’m afraid of it, but that will not happen to me.”

Quinn and Luke:  He cups my cheek in his hands and draws me in. I run my fingers along the back of his neck as he kisses me. All our diseased germs commingling. He touches my rib where it had been bruised. His fingers slip under my shirt, lifting the fabric along my skin. It isn’t sexual, not really, but there’s something deeply intimate about the way his thumb glides along my now healthy rib. The rib that had pierced my internal organs just days ago. “I don’t want anything else to happen to you.

Luke and Quinn:  “Quinn.” He grabs my hand before I can leave. His face loose and his eyes mopey. “You know you don’t have to do this.”
“I know,” I say to Luke. “But don’t feel guilty. I would have done it anyway.”
He takes my knuckles to his mouth. “Be safe. I’m just getting used to having you around.”

Quinn’s thoughts:  In the shadows you’re safe. You’re safe from every mistake. You’re safe from all your fears. All your faults. No one can find you, no one can see you. No one can hurt you. Whatever you did, whatever shame you have, it’s hidden in the shadows.

The Synopsis for ‘Time Will Tell’:

Be spontaneous, they say.
That’s how I ended up on the back of a stranger’s bike.

A sexy, tall, tattooed stranger, but a stranger nonetheless.

How was I to know that a chance meeting with this man, Xander Kane, was going to change my life?

My ‘Blogging Reader’s ARC-Review’ for ‘TIME WILL TELL'(Maybe Series – book #3) by Author Chantal Fernando:

The wait for the third novel of the Maybe Series was long awaited but truly well worth it! In the first two novels of this series, we were introduced to the twin-brothers Reid and Ryan Knox. This story follows Xander Kane and Trillian and readers will get to enjoy the story in both main character’s P.O.V’s(point of views).

Xander Kane is heartbroken. The loss of someone very important in his life has brought him down and he needs time away. Tall, handsome, tattooed, and swoon-worthy Xander decides to take a road trip to meet up with his longtime friend Zach in another town to just take a break. The pain from the loss of a loved one is just beneath the surface and he just plans to try his best to get his mind right but when he arrives to Channon he meets a girl that he instantly is drawn to.

Trillian lives alone and has for the past two years since her father passed away. She doesn’t have much family but her best-friend April, her good friend/neighbor Zach and his dad Grim, who both happen to be a part of the Wind Dragon’s MC, are the closest people she has to family in her life now. When Trill goes out with April for a night of fun, she comes across a very gorgeous guy that makes her feel an attraction that she’s never felt toward a man before. As the night progresses, they both find out that they have a connection in more ways than one.

I absolutely enjoyed this novel and loved the chemistry between all of the characters! The friendship between Trillian and Zach is adorable; the growing chemistry between Xander and Trillian is so pleasing. From the moment Trillian and Xander meet and reading what may develop, it all is sweet and captivating. Will the friendship between Trillian and Zach make Xander think there is more between them? Will ex’s ruin things for Trillian and Xander? “Time Will Tell” is full of entertaining moments in the story as well as a perfect mix of romance and steamy-hotness with alpha-male galore. This one does not disappoint and I recommend it for anyone looking for something great to read next. This series is worth the read. 🙂

MEMORABLE QUOTES & LINES FROM ‘TIME WILL TELL′

Xander’s thoughts:  He was my hero. He was rough around the edges, hung around with bikers, and drank and swore a lot. But he was tough and had a heart of gold. Now he is six feet under. I stand and pace the hallway, running my fingers through my hair and tugging on the ends. And then I make a decision. For the first time in my life, I just need to leave. To get away. Be somewhere else. I need to be free. Does time heal all wounds? I guess only time will tell.

Tillian’s thoughts:  Zach and I became friends, and the two of them had kept an eye on me ever since my dad passed away. An extremely unlikely friendship, considering Zach’s dad, Grim, is the president of the Wind Dragons Motorcycle Club. Zach is my age and also in the MC. I call him the biker prince whenever I want to piss him off.

Xander and Tillian: “Do you want to be around me? That’s all it really comes down to. After spending tonight with you, I don’t think I could sit at Zach’s without wanting to be here.”
She scrapes her teeth along her bottom lip. “I do want to be around you.”

Xander and Tillian: He kissed my mouth again then pulls back. “I haven’t been a saint, Trill, you need to know that. I’m young, and yeah, I’ve had my share of women, but like I said, you’re different.”
“Why?” I ask.
His gaze lowers to my mouth. “Fuck if I know. I just want you more than I’ve ever wanted someone before. That’s all I know.”

Xander’s thoughts:  The kiss isn’t polite or reserved.
No, it’s hot, all consuming, and demanding.
It’s hungry. It’s needy.
It’s teeth clashing, biting and sucking.
Licking. Tasting. I devour her mouth.

Alphabetical Disorder – Katie Stephens

Everyone in Mason’s Circus understands and respects the powers of the resident gypsies—the Romani tribe—and most steer clear of any involvement. But when Susie gets caught in a web of prophecy and magic that brings danger to the troupe, her non–Rom interpretation turns out to be flawed. She pushes aside the man of her dreams to date alphabetically, in the hopes of saving her circus family.
Sam has had his eye on Susie since she joined the company. He’s puzzled by her actions, but not blind to the way she responds to him. A patient man by nature, he battles his need to claim her immediately or allow her game to continue. When disaster strikes, they join forces with their Romani friends to stop the curse before it destroys the circus.

Love’s Not Viral – Nessie Strange

Twenty–four–year–old bartender Aster Sanderson’s life is turned upside down when drunken Hollywood actor Bradley Stone snaps a picture of her…and tweets to his 12.8 million followers that she’s his fiancee. As the internet blows up with the news and gossip flies out of control, she’s left feeling helpless. This has to be a misunderstanding, right? But when the actor in question shows up on her doorstep, it’s clear he’s unhinged and she soon becomes a prisoner in her own home (literally).
Her savior? Bradley’s handsome—and seemingly normal—older brother, James, who quickly stirs up feelings she never expected. Can they disarm the ticking time–bomb that Bradley Stone has become before any more damage is done? And is their mutual attraction the result of these unusual circumstances…or could it become something more?

Taking the Plunge – Kishan Paul

Since graduating high school, Eve Cambridge has dropped ten dress sizes, became an RN, and dumped her jerk of a boyfriend—all on her own. So when her high school crush shows up in her life, she does what any normal self–reliant woman would do—pepper spray him.
Since inheriting the family plumbing business, Pete Russo has tried to make the best of a career he never planned for. He’s made his share of mistakes, but he’s worked hard to learn from them. Now that he’s run into Eve, he’s not so sure he isn’t making another one. After all, she did almost blind him.
When logic and emotion don’t agree, which path should they follow?

The Trouble with Never – Isabella Harper

Summer McKenzie is starting fresh. With her soon to be ex–husband in another state, she’s ready to start over in her small Texas town. That is, until she runs into the one person that has never gone too far from her memories, or her heart.
Since graduating college, Caleb Davis has planted roots in the form of a thriving BBQ business. He’s got everything he’s ever wanted, except the one woman that he could never have. It’s clear she’s had a painful past, but he wants nothing more than to create a promising future.
Will she let love heal old ones, or will she let her fears push him away?

Keep Calm and Eat Chocolate – Michaela Miles

Eleanor Carrara is angry. At the world, at the people who had her committed to the institution, and at the people holding her captive in it. When the sexy, but calm and stoic Chris becomes a fellow resident of the facility, things begin to change. He taunts her, challenges her, and even makes her cry. But her anger dissolves as she realises he’s the one person who may be able to break through the armour built around her heart.
Christopher Tailor feels nothing. Haunted by the memories of his awful past, he is institutionalised, and utterly alone in the world. Meeting Elle changes everything. She’s conceited, rude, and completely unaware that in some ways she’s just as broken as he is. But something about her gets under his skin. He takes a chance and shares his secret with her.
Falling in love was the last thing Chris and Elle expected. But for them to consider having a future together, they first have to let go of their past and trust the system imprisoning them both.

My ‘Blogging Reader’s Reviews’ after reading  an ARC-Early Copy of ‘LOVE LEAST EXPECTED’:

Just in time for Valentine’s Day! “Love Least Expected” is a compilation of nine wonderful short stories from nine different authors. You get a taste of nine different story lines that will satisfy your need just like a variety-filled heart shaped box of delectable chocolates. There is a nice blend of delicious, romantic, classic, feel-good, dark and amazing in this anthology.

Under The Mango Tree by Meredith Bond:

The story is written in the main female character Lakshmi’s P.O.V.(point of view). Lakshmi lives with her family in India. She is being raised by the tradition of being married off to a young man who will be well suited for her and that her father approves of. All of the traditions look differently through Lakshmi’s eyes after she first sees and hears the young Englishman that her twin brother speaks to beneath her favorite Mango Tree. His eyes are so different from what she’s familiar with, two shades of blue and green. They both come from different lifestyles and traditions but when Lakshmi finds it hard to ignore her interest in Lord Huntley. Can love be found between these two or will tradition keep them apart? This is the beginning of a wonderful story. You should give this one a go’ especially if you enjoy sweet flourishing romance during a time long ago.

Rolf’s Quest by Aubrey Wynne:

We get to read the story in two P.O.V.’s(point of views) from the characters Baron and Melissa. The story begins with an infatuation so strong between a sorcerer by the name of Merlin and Viven, who would be his apprentice but whom he wanted more from. When they come to a disagreement about what is to become of their relationship, a curse set to effect a long-bloodline is made. The men in Merlin’s family line will be cursed to never find love and be alone. The only way to break the curse would be for the man to fall in genuine love with someone who feels completely the same love back for them. Merlin would have to live stuck in an ancient tree trunk until the curse is broken. Generations later, a young boy by the name of Baron Rolf Arbrec has to live alone to be raised by Merlin and to try to learn to succeed where his father and men before him had failed against the curse. There may be hope for the character when he becomes a man and meets a young lady named Melissa. They have both only lived in each other’s dreams until fate brings them into each other’s lives for real. Will the heart win them over or will loyalty and bitterness ruin their chance at finding real love? This seems like a magical and interesting story. If this sounds like something you’d find interesting, check this book out.

Fall Into Darkness by Valerie Twombly:

In the third short, we get to enjoy the story from the two character P.O.V.’s(point of views) of Eli and Ashley. An angel who is a hunter and loves to be on his own named Eli has taken justice into his own hands one to many times. The seven women who rule his kind decide on a punishment. He was not meant to judge so therefore they condemn him to living on earth with humankind until he found his humanity. There he rescues a young lady named Ashley who was about to be killed by a Hellhound. When Ashley finds out more about her history and more about Eli, she is faced with decisions. Will Eli and Ashley be able to handle their situation? Can Eli change his views on how he plans to live his life? This story is definitely something I would love to continue to read more of. Once this one is out, I will try to check this one out for sure!

Roses are Wrong, Violets Taboo by Kris Calvert:

‘Lexi’s Chance’ is the fourth Novelette and is written by Constance Phillips. This story comes from the two P.O.V.’s(point of views) of main characters Rose and Chase. Alexander Chase Tabeau is dealing with the loss of a very important person in his life and Rose Westwood has just recently left a very bad situation and relationship. The meet and share with each other everything that has brought them there to that place alone. She is beautiful and he is ruggedly handsome which makes the attraction between them practically instant. As they begin to talk and share about their lives with each other it only makes that attraction grow. They decide to take a plunge and share a night of closeness on more than one level. Rose has it in her mind that this will be a special night with this amazing man but nothing more can be promised after tonight. What will happen when Rose has to leave? Will Chase be able to find the love he seeks? This has so much promise of being a beautiful love story. I can’t wait to read the rest of this one when it’s out.

Alphabetical Disorder by Katie Stephens:

The fifth short story is written in the two main character’s P.O.V.’s(point of views), Susie and Sam. Susie is a part of the circus. She must date in alphabetical order according to the Romani-magic-Gypsy-voodoo-mojo to break a curse that threatens to destroy the circus. As she dates different men in the circus in alphabetical order, it never goes passed the first date for different reasons. There is one guy named Sam Burke who she really likes and is attracted to but she is determined to stick to the alphabetical order in order to break the curse. When Sam and Susie have a sweet moment together, she is almost thrown off course. Susie remembers what she has to do and is determined to get it done even if it means putting her own heart on hold. This is very different because it’s about people in a circus that work together. It seems like a nice story. If this seems like something you could enjoy then try it out when the full novel is out.

Love’s Not Viral by Nessie Strange:

This short story comes in the two main character’s P.O.V.’s(point of views), Aster and James. When Aster’s best friend Mia wakes her up to inform her that she really needs to tell her what is going on because she is all over the internet. At the urging of Mia, she discovers that a random photo taken the night before with the most eligible bachelor had gone viral. Not only had it gone viral but she was now listed as his new fiance! Aster had only served his drinks, spoke only a few words with him as his waitress and politely allowed him to pull her into his silly-drunken-photo shot. When Bradley shows up at her doorstep on that next day with paparazzi in tow, her world is completely flipped upside down. Can Aster get to the bottom of this sudden engagement with Bradley that she wasn’t aware of? When Bradley’s older brother James comes into the picture, can he be the voice of reason? This story is quite interesting and different because of the weird situation Aster finds herself in. It makes you wonder if Bradley has completely lost his mind? To see how this wild story continues I’ll say it is worth the read.

Taking The Plunge by Kishan Paul:

Then you have Taking The Plunge which is written in the two main character’s P.O.V.’s(point of views), Eve and Pete. After Eve Cambridge goes through life changes after finishing high school which include losing weight, dumping her jerk-of-a-boyfriend Preston, and becoming an RN, she is ready to get a fresh start. Pete Russo was Eve’s high school crush during senior year especially after he defended her. He took over the family plumbing business even though it wasn’t what he had planned to do. When they reunite after an unexpected encounter eight years later, they find themselves trying to figure what comes next. They had no idea how much they both effected each other’s lives then and are beginning to realize that they may still have that effect on each other now. I am loving this one and am hoping to get a chance to read the full novel for this one when it comes out later this year. The characters are captivating and the storyline has everything I enjoy about a contemporary romance. This is one to definitely get a copy of when you get a chance.

The Trouble With Never by Isabella Harper:

The Trouble With Never gives you the two main character’s P.O.V.’s(point of views), Summer and Caleb. When Summer McKenzie discovers her husband’s infidelities she decides that she’s had enough. She met him in college and thought she found the one but through the years he persuaded her to distance herself from her closest friends and to basically become his trophy wife. With her long time best friend Faith’s help, she decides to pick up, pack up and leave the life she’s lived for the past eight years with a man who was verbally insulting to her. She decides to move back to her home town to start over again. What she didn’t plan on was running into one of her old good friends that she had lost touch with because of her marriage, Caleb.
Caleb has been running a successful Bar-B-Q eatery and bar in his home town. He had come to terms with the fact that his old long time friend Summer had chosen her relationship over their friendship even though it hurt like hell.

Keep Calm and Eat Chocolate by Michaela Miles:

The ninth short has been written in the main character Eleanor’s P.O.V.(point of view). This was the final short story in this anthology. Eleanor Carrara was the daughter of a very successful father who happened to own a huge chocolate company. Upon his passing, she was set to run the business on her thirtieth birthday except strange things begin to happen. Her Uncle and mother both made her think she was losing her mind as things mysteriously ended up misplaced and emails were sent from her account that she didn’t remember sending. After she even got to the point of questioning herself, she was mandated to enter a mental institution where she would stay until she admitted she had lost her mind and needed help.
When Christopher Tailor first arrives at the mental institution, most thought he was guilty and maybe even a mute because he spoke to no one. That seemed the case until he finally spoke to Eleanor. But when he spoke he also pissed her off with what he said. Will these two drive each other truly crazy or find an ally where they least expected it? Are they actually guilty of what they are in there for or are there a few secrets keeping the truth from being revealed? This was an interesting and entertaining short to end this very compelling and delightful series of short stories.

💕

I am very happy to have been given the chance to read and review an ARC copy of this great anthology novel because these stories were enjoyable from start to finish!  The characters were well written, the stories are shorter yet very pleasing to the reader. Many of those shorts’ will be coming out in 2015 as full length novels so this gives you a glimpse into what is to come. Many are definitely worth the read. I do recommend this novel for those that love engrossing and captivating stories of romance.

MEMORABLE QUOTES & LINES FROM ‘LOVE LEAST EXPECTED’

(Under The Mango Tree) Lakshmi’s thoughts: He’d touched her. His bare skin to hers. She’d been able to feel the heat of him for hours afterward. Just the thought had her pulling the edge of her sari further over her head, doing her best to make sure it stayed there, as if she could hide the memories as easily as she could her face.

(Under The Mango Tree) Lord Huntley:  “I have no wife. My home is sitting empty right now, waiting for the right woman to come and make it her own.” Lakshmi stole a look up at him. His eyes weren’t laughing and the smile had fallen from his face altogether. There was something else there now. Something that stirred the heat within her, nearly as hot as it had been when he’d had his hands on her waist. She couldn’t pull her eyes away from his. They drew her in and held her in a warm embrace. She felt…she felt wanted.

(Rolf’s Quest)  Rolf and Melissa: Vivid dreams interrupted her slumber. She stood in small grove, shivering in the dark. She jumped at the sound of his voice.
“I have waited for you.” The mysterious man on the hill stared at her from a tree.
“Come down right now,” she commanded. Goosebumps prickled her arms, and she rubbed them with vigor. “How can you wait for me when we have never met?”
“You are my destiny.”

(Rolf’s Quest) Melissa and Rolf: When she peered up at the tree again, he had vanished, and she cried out for him. Her skin chilled with his absence and her heart grew heavy.
“Please don’t go. I would take back my harsh words.”
A whisper tickled her ear, “We shall meet again.”

(Fall Into Darkness)  Ashley’s thoughts:  Never had she felt more alive and as she gazed at her lover, her heart wrenched. A hazy light surrounded him that she’d never noticed before. It had to be his aura and her gut told her the rim of black that bordered the bright white was all wrong. Darkness was overtaking him.

(Fall Into Darkness) Ashley and Eli:  “Please don’t leave me alone.” -(Ashley)
Eli did the only thing he knew to comfort her. He pulled her into his lap, pressed her head against his chest and stroked her hair. “I’m not leaving until we figure out what’s going on. I promise, you’ll be safe.”
I swear to the heavens, I’ll protect you with my life. -(Eli)

(Roses are Wrong, Violets Taboo)  Pops to Chase:  “Treat your wife like a queen and she’ll always make you the king. Don’t ever make a woman fall for you if you have no intention of catching her. And finally, you’ll know her when you see her. Don’t be an ass and let her go.”

(Roses are Wrong, Violets Taboo)  Chase to Rose:  “I could feed you a line of horseshit and tell you that I’m hungry for you- and it wouldn’t be a lie. I am. Believe me, I am. But you,” he continued as he brushed a lock of red hair from her eyes and dropped his voice, “are so much more than that. I am hungry for the possibilities with you.”

(Alphabetical Disorder)  Lexi’s thoughts on Sean:  Soft, Sweet. A whisper of lips moving together, stroking over and over. Not one of those desperate kisses, with tongues and teeth clashing. Susie had never felt a kiss like Sam’s before. That feeling, brought on by the tenderness of his touch, fulfilled a yearning deep inside. She didn’t know if he noticed it or not. She became lost in the moment. Lost in him.

(Love’s Not Viral) Aster’s thoughts: There’s something to be said for a man that knows how to kiss. Sure, anyone with lips can put two together, but doing it well is an art and he’s got it mastered.

(Taking the Plunge) Eve’s thoughts:  Eight years later, he still made it hard for her to put two words together. Her body warmed just thinking about him. She let out a lust-filled breath. It had taken every ounce of self-control to wash his face and not go exploring. And at well over six-feet tall, there were so many lovely parts of him she’d love to explore.

(Taking the Plunge) Pete’s thoughts: His pulse quickened, heat coursed through him awakening a hunger deep in his core. He ached to tilt her chin and taste her, but fought the urge. Something told him she’d be worth waiting for.

(The Trouble With Never)  Summer’s thoughts: She was a hollow shell of that bubbly and enthusiastic new bride from six and a half years ago. Somehow, she would find that girl again. She squared her shoulders and lifted her chin. Time to move forward. The past few months had emotionally drained her. While the cost felt like more than she could bear, she would stand tall and rebuild. She wouldn’t crumble.

(The Trouble With Never)  Caleb’s thoughts:  He wanted to demand answers from her, but comfort her at the same time. Years may have passed, but he still knew her well enough to recognize the pain she tucked away inside where most people couldn’t see. With a jolt, he realized no woman since had lived up to Summer. She had set the bar high, and he’d be damned if he’d lose her again, even if they just stayed friends.

(Keep Calm and Eat Chocolate) Eleanor’s thoughts:  The only upside to my inability to find a suitable topic was that I’d learned something. I cared about Chris, and it felt nice. I hadn’t truly cared for someone other than myself for a long time. There’d been no time and no need. Right now all I had was time, and a need was finding me.

(Keep Calm and Eat Chocolate) Eleanor’s thoughts: I couldn’t take my eyes off his. I wanted to burn this moment into my memory. A moment I’d dreamed about since the day he called me a stuck-up little princess.

The Synopsis:

Shy accountant Veronica Bass is determined to live it up a little before settling down with a perfectly respectable man to live a perfectly respectable life, just the way her mother wants.

So when rock star Diego Diaz flashes his bedroom eyes at her during a wedding reception, Veronica swallows her shyness and leads him to the nearest hotel room. Now this total sex god keeps popping up in her life, and she finds herself telling some not-so-little white lies to keep him interested.

Diego’s world evolves around music, women throwing themselves at him, and having fun. His lifestyle hasn’t allowed him to find the right girl to settle down with until now, but his own secret stands in the way of forming a lasting relationship with Veronica.

Is their love destined to last for only a New York minute?

My ‘Blogging Reader’s ARC-Review’ for ‘New York Minute’ by Melinda Dozier:

This is a new contemporary romance novel by author Melinda Dozier. I was first introduced to Melinda’s work when I was given the chance to read and review the anthology “One Lucky Night” that had her short story “Drink or Dare” as a part of that novel. Her work was great then and this one was wonderful just the same. Readers will get to enjoy “New York Minute” in the two main character’s P.O.V.’s(point of views), Veronica Bass and Diego Diaz.

Veronica Bass is a successful accountant but has been stuck in a singles rut for longer than she’d like. When she attends a co-worker’s wedding she decides to try her luck at finding something or someone to excite her life. Veronica feels her life is pretty boring compared to everyone she knows so she wanted to take a chance and do something unexpected of her. Then she sees him. She is ready to enjoy a stimulating and hot night with this very attractive man she meets with no worries.

Diego Diaz saw her at the wedding ceremony and spotted her again at the wedding reception of his band mate. He wasn’t expecting anything when he meets beautiful Veronica but that changes as the night progresses. He’s had his share of bad relationships with women who were with him for all of the wrong reasons which included wanting things from him because of his career. Deep down all he really wanted was to find a good woman to settle down with and make a family.

After one explosive and mind-blowing night shared together, Veronica quickly disappears the next morning leaving Diego just as fast as they met. But why did this feel like so much more than just a one night stand to them? Neither expected to ever see each other again. One night was shared and that was as far as it was supposed to go according to Veronica. She wanted to find someone long lasting, that fit certain expectations that her mother was hoping for her to find but it was turning out to be harder and harder to find it. When a chance run-in with the one man that she shared a passionate night with crosses her path once again weeks later, will she give in again or walk away?

Could Veronica pretend to be the sexy siren he met that night they shared or would her self-proclaimed boring lifestyle not be satisfying enough to this hot-sexy man? Would he still want her, the real her, when he got to know her? Diego had come to realize that the night he shared with Vero was not just memorable but it was inspirational for him, his heart and his music. Now with a new chance to get to know more about Vero, he couldn’t let her slip through his fingers again. Then there are other problems. Veronica has been telling him a lie about herself but she has no idea that Diego has also been keeping certain secrets of his own. Are their secrets big enough to tear them apart just when they are falling hard for each other?

“New York Minute” was an enjoyable and quick little romantic read. The characters were likeable and the storyline was delightful, sweet and satisfying. If you’re looking for a lovely romance novel to dive into next, this one will not disappoint. Make sure to check this one out when it comes out!

MEMORABLE QUOTES & LINES FROM ‘NEW YORK MINUTE′

Veronica’s thoughts:  To hell with the old people table. To hell with the horrible salmon that made her gag. To hell with being pushed to the side by a leggy bridesmaid to catch the enormous bouquet. Veronica would take this man over a bouquet any day. For one night, her life would be wild and fun, worth the five-digit number the bride and groom spent for their once-in-a-lifetime event. She’d tag on her own memory of a lifetime to their hefty sum. She’d have this man and stimulate her life in unfathomable ways.

Diego’s thoughts:  He didn’t want her to be like the other women who found their ways into his path. Then after talking with her-Dios mio, his luck! He’d ended up with the one woman who seemingly had no idea who he was. Unless she really was hiding something, but it was highly unlikely.

Diego’s thoughts: Diego didn’t just encounter another ordinary girl. He met up with the same woman who had awakened his muse from the long, dark, dreaded sleep. He’d written one song. Not a lot, but it was more than he’d done in the last five months.

Diego and Veronica: “You’re a beauty to me.” -(Diego)
“You help me become visible.” -(Vero)
He shook his head. “It’s all you. I don’t do a damn thing except admire you- on the inside and out.”
“We barely know each other. How do you know how I am on the inside?”
“We all start out as strangers. The beginning of a relationship has to start somewhere. I know you more than I’ve known any other woman.”

Wild Reckless by Ginger Scott( PRE-ORDER COMING SOON!)

📚

Synopsis for ‘WILD RECKLESS’:

Kensington Worth had a vision for her senior year. It involved her best friends, her posh private school in downtown Chicago and time alone with her piano until her audition was perfected, a guaranteed ticket into the best music programs in the world.

Instead, a nightmare took over.

It didn’t happen all at once, but her life unraveled quickly—a tiny thread that evil somehow kept pulling until everything precious was taken from her. She was suddenly living miles away from her old life, trapped in an existence she didn’t choose—one determined to destroy her from the inside, leaving only hate and anger behind. It didn’t help that her neighbor, the one whose eyes held danger, was enjoying every second of her fall.

Owen Harper was trouble, his heart wild and his past the kind that’s spoken about in whispers. And somehow, his path was always intertwined with Kensington’s, every interaction crushing her, ruining her hope for any future better than her now. Sometimes, though, what everyone warns is trouble, is exactly what the heart needs. Owen Harper was consumed with darkness, and it held onto his soul for years. When Kensington looked at him, she saw a boy who’d gotten good at taking others down when they threatened his carefully balanced life. But the more she looked, the more she saw other things too—good things…things to admire.

Things…to love. Things that made her want to be reckless.

And those things…they were the scariest of all.

Sinners Tribe Motorcycle Club 1 ROUGH JUSTICE Sarah Castille

The Synopsis:

From bestselling author Sarah Castille comes a scorching new series featuring red-hot, hard-riding bikers and the women who can’t help but love them…

IT TAKES A GOOD, STRONG WOMAN

Raised in a motorcycle gang, tough, beautiful Arianne Hunter has always dreamed of a normal life. But no sooner does she escape her father’s domineering grasp than she wakes up to find herself in a rival gang’s clubhouse—at the mercy of the dangerously sexy Jagger Knight.

TO TAME A MAN WHO’S HELL ON WHEELS.

The alpha leader of the notorious Sinner’s Tribe, Jagger Knight is all muscle, all biker, and all man. But somewhere inside this hard tattooed outlaw, Arianne senses a kindred spirit—and she can’t ignore their tempestuous attraction. Can she beat him at his own game in a revved-up blaze of glory? Or will their passion spark a war that’s the end of the road for them both?

My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading ‘ROUGH JUSTICE’:

“Rough Justice” is the first novel of the Sinner’s Tribe Motorcycle Club Series by Sarah Castille. I was granted the opportunity to read and review this MC novel in exchange for my honest review. As a fan of MC novels, I am excited to let readers know that this book does not disappoint. This novel is written from the two P.O.V.’s(point of views) of the main characters Arianne Hunter and Jagger Knight.

Arianne Hunter was born into this world. She is the daughter of the Black Jacks Motorcycle Club President Viper and has known no other life but the violent and gritty MC world. She is beautiful and has had close calls growing up around such brutal men. She has a younger brother named Jeff who she had always tried her best to protect but all he’s ever wanted was to earn a place in the Black Jacks under their father. Growing up in this life, Arianne learned a few helpful skills that make her tough and a survivor. When she is captured, in more ways than one, by the rival MC, she must find a way to survive the world she has fighting to flee from before but it never lets her go.

Jagger Knight is the President of the Sinner’s Tribe Motorcycle Club, which is the main rival of the Black Jacks. When the Black Jacks come and destroy their clubhouse and steal weapons, there is only one way to settle this and revenge is a promise. When they capture one of the Black Jack MC members at the site, they are ready to beat them, torture them and make them pay. The only problem is that the one that they’ve captured is not what they expected.

Club first, that is the motto that any true MC lives by. When Jagger gets his hands on Arianne, he wants to question her, keep her as a prisoner for being a part of the Black Jacks, but he can’t help but want to do dirty things to her, too. Their growing attraction is hard to ignore but loyalty runs deep and makes it hard to give in to their desires. Arianne has running on her mind and leaving this place and every biker behind. Jagger will do anything for his MC and had always told himself he’d never let his heart endanger another woman near him again.

There are so many entertaining turns in the story and it definitely kept my engaged. The characters are each enjoyable and I really liked that there was a great dose of suspense and mystery inside the story. Who’s the rat? Will Arianne be able to get away or will something hold her back? Can Jagger ever see beyond just his loyalty to his club? Who will live and who will die in the gritty world surrounding the motorcycle clubs and their rivalry? All I have to say is you should definitely check this one out especially if you are a fan of a dark and amazing MC novel. This was is up there. Thanks for the chance to review this one Sarah Castille. I’m absolutely going to be waiting anxiously for the next novel in this series to see what goes on with Dawn and Cade! 🙂

MEMORABLE QUOTES & LINES FROM ‘ROUGH JUSTICE’

Jagger’s thoughts:  As president, Jagger was responsible for MC brothers men. Their pain was his pain. Their loss was his loss. And their revenge… When it came, he would make sure it was the sweetest fucking revenge they’d ever tasted.

Arianne “Vexy’s” thoughts:  She recognized the three-piece patch at once; a winged skull set above flames, with two stars on eithe side and two curved rockers above and below, proclaiming the name of his club and the chapter.
THE SINNER’S TRIBE.
She was going to die.

Arianne “Vexy’s” thoughts:  From the authority in his voice to the power oozing from his pores, he was every inch the dominant alpha male. A natural leader. She doubted anyone ever challenged him. And that traitorous lick of heat deep in her core? Simply an instinctive primal response.

Jagger and Arianne:  “They will not harm you again, Arianne,” he said, his voice low and even. “You have my word.”
His word. A tremor went through he hands and her body slumped in relief. A biker’s word was his bond, not given lightly, upheld as a matter of pride and respect and for the honor of the club.

Jagger’s thoughts:  He’d never realized what he was looking for in a woman until he met Arianne, but she pressed all his buttons. Beautiful, confident, challenging, independent, and with enough cheek to make him laugh. A woman who wasn’t afraid of who he was and wanted nothing from him. A woman who could tease him and walk away. A woman who shared his passions and understood the politics of biker culture and the tightrope he had to walk to maintain control of the club.

Jagger’s thoughts:  This was his world. Their world. Arianne was part of them- part of him. And he would move hell and earth to protect her. He would not fail.

Filthy Rich by Dawn Ryder

The Synopsis:

SHE’S FIGHTING FOR CONTROL…

Celeste Connor swore that she’d never be a victim again. After the hell of her abusive ex, the last thing she needs is to be under another man’s thumb. But when she catches the eye of fiercely dominant Nartan Lupan at her best friend’s wedding, Celeste finds herself drawn into a glittering world of wealth and power that has her body aching and her mind reeling.

HE’S FIGHTING TO MAKE HER HIS…

Nartan is a filthy rich businessman who works hard, plays harder, and doesn’t take no for an answer-and he wants Celeste with a hunger he’s never before felt. He’ll do whatever it takes to have her. But Nartan didn’t expect that he’d want still more…

My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading ‘FILTHY RICH’:

This is my review for “Filthy Rich” by Dawn Ryder and it is the first time I’ve had a chance to read her work. The story follows a woman who is determined to make it on her own after her husband, who happened to be controlling and rich, is sent to jail. She goes to Alaska to attend her best friend’s wedding and comes across the groom’s best friend who happens to be everything she has convinced herself she doesn’t want anymore. But the pull of attraction between them is hard to ignore. The story is written in the four P.O.V.’s(point of views) from Celeste Connor, Nartan Lupan, Caspian Devitt, and Laura.

The main female character Celeste Connor is a blonde, beautifully toned woman thanks to her new hobby of martial arts, and determined to be independent. She doesn’t want a man or any kind of relationship because the scars, emotional and mental ones, still linger from a marriage she was currently free from. Her husband was controlling, rich, and always got his way no matter what anyone else said. His wife was his toy and his possession and she feared the day he would be back out of lock-up. She enjoys celebrating the wedding of her best friend Sabra on a trip to Alaska. Her mind is set on never trusting any man, especially one with a lot of money and who loves control. Then, she meets the groom’s best man who happens to also be his best friend, Nartan.

Nartan Lupan is a pure blood Apache. His dark hair, fit physique, unique cobalt-blue eyes and successful business gives him a lifestyle of never needing anything. Women are never hard to come by, in fact they practically throw themselves at him. When he comes across the lovely Celeste he can’t help but be intrigued by the attraction he feels toward her. As he begins to pursue her, he sees that she will not come easy and that makes him want her more.

Then you have the bitter, rich, vengeful husband who has always gotten what he wanted and his wife Celeste is what he wants. Caspian Devitt loves to enjoy the power his money brings and he enjoys pressing his control on anyone who belongs to him. His time in jail doesn’t change anything. Celeste his his. She belongs to him…that’s what he thinks anyway. No one will have her and when the time comes, she will come back to him when he is out. If she tries to fight him, he will bend her until she remembers exactly who has control over everything she does. That is the mind of the power-hungry Caspian.

This story had a great mix of enjoyable romance, provocative steamy scenes, and it had some
entertaining suspenseful moments. Will Celeste ever be able to trust or even love a man again? Is Nartan just another rich man in search of a woman to own and control or is there more to him? Will Caspian decide to move on or will he do anything to press his control onto Celeste, no matter what it costs? I do recommend this book for readers who enjoy a great contemporary romance with a nice mix of suspense. I’m curious to know if this will become a series or if a spin-off book will come from the supporting characters Laura and Marcus. I think there is potential there with those two. All together, this was a satisfying read. 🙂

MEMORABLE QUOTES & LINES FROM ‘FILTHY RICH’

Celeste’s thoughts:  Nartan Lupan was everything she needed to stay away from. Tall, dark, and handsom, with the kind of money a gold digger would be willing to undergo plastic surgery to get he hands on. His kind understood their power too. They wielded it like a whip, expecting a woman to be their pet. They only wanted control in a relationship, not equality or partnership. No, Celeste would never again submit to that kind of subjugation.

Celeste’s thoughts:  Getting on with her life would require someone a little more run-of-the-mill. That might translate into boring, but it also could be defined as steady and reliable. Two things she was positive she needed for inner peace.

Nartan’s thoughts:  The last thing he needed was the complication of a relationship. Or the risk of letting someone close enough to his heart to sink a knife into it. Women like Celeste were dangerous because they were quality, and dismissing her would be possible. His damned fascination with her would die. He was sure of it.

Nartan’s thoughts:  Nartan felt a burning in his gut that he knew too well. It was a feeling he trusted, one he’d followed in business, and he’d been rewarded with success for doing so. He wasn’t finished with Celeste Connor. Leaving her behind would be a mistake.

Celeste’s thoughts:  She needed him, craved the taste of him more than her next breath. Arousal was twisting, tightening in her core. He just felt so right against her, so perfect that she had to reach for him and tug him closer.

Nartan to Celeste:  “I’ve never asked another woman to come home with me,” he whispered against her ear.
“I kept one of the condos for my hookups, I’m not taking you there,” he told her bluntly. “My home is for the woman who makes me feel rich.” He pulled in a stiff breath. “You make me feel that way. So deeply, it scares me.”
