My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading ‘OUT OF TIME’:

I truly enjoyed reading ‘Out Of Time’, the sequel to ‘Out Of Line’ by Author Jen McLaughlin because any novel that can invoke strong feelings whether happy or sad, deserves praise. As the reader, there is a good chance you will find yourself emotional invested with the main characters Carrie Wallington and Griffin ‘FINN’ Coram. You’ll be happy to know that you will read the story in the two main characters’ P.O.V.’s(Point of views).

The previous book left us with a cliffhanger phone call that Finn received from his CO in the Marines. The story left us wondering what would happen? Was it a phone call about a possible deployment? Did Carrie’s father, a U.S. Senator, find out about the new blossoming romance between Carrie and Finn? The cliffhanger wasn’t a bad one since the story continued a few months later with the sequel novel. We got the answer. And boy, did we get the answer. Emotions were high, both good and bad. At times you were left wondering if Carrie and Finn could handle the outcome of that phone call and everything else that occurred from that change of events.

Speaking from experience, relationships are tested constantly but when something is ready to give a relationship the ultimate test of possibly living apart for any amount of time, emotions run it’s ‘rocky road’ course. Carrie get’s a visit from her parents during a time when all she wants to do is spend every moment she can with Finn. While Finn prepares to get answers for the questions of his possible future, he is left trying to keep his secret relationship with Carrie low key from his boss and her father, Senator Wallington. Find out what happens and get your answers to the questions you were left with at the end of ‘Out Of Line’. Most will be answered in ‘Out Of Time’ but at the end of the story, you are left wanting to see what will become of the strong loving relationship between Carrie and Finn. I’m looking forward to the prequel to this series titled ‘Out Of Mind.’

Finn Coram’s thoughts: She always dived in to new things with wide-open arms, never showing a hint of fear. Hell, she’d even done that with me. Just kind of opened up and accepted me for what I was. That never ceased to amaze me.

Cody is still next to me, his grip on my hand once again strong, but his body is stiff. I’m rewinding mentally, realizing just how far I went. Shit! I said way too much! I don’t even know what I’m doing here. This all suddenly feels way too intimate—wrong. My pulse is speeding up the more I think about what Trevor would think if he saw me, saw this—saw us!

I slide the pillow from my chest to the side and work my fingers until they’re out of Cody’s grip. He remains next to me, but isn’t moving. I’m pretty sure I just made him feel unwelcome in his own bed, the awkwardness creeping in now and almost choking me. I have to leave, leave this bed and then leave this room. I’ll be calm until I shut his door, and then I’m running.

Yes, that’s it. I’ll run.

“Oh God, I’m sorry. I just unloaded, like, way too much on you. I’m…I’m just going to go,” I say, pushing myself up to sit at the side of the bed and slip on my shoes. The light is dim, but I can tell that Cody’s eyes have shifted to me. He’s still not moving or speaking, and I don’t really want him to. I just want to get out of his room without him saying a word.

“Thank you, truly,” I say as I stand and look once more at the ceiling. “The stars? They’re amazing,” my voice wavers, and I turn and walk to his door. I’m gripping the handle, willing myself to keep it together for just a few more seconds until I’m out of his view, when I feel his body behind me and see his hand flat against the door.

His breath against my neck raises every hair on my body. I’m looking intently at his fingers splayed out on the wood paneling of the door in front of me, my hands still gripping the door handle. Beyond this door, my life continues on one path—a path I know. A path I love. But I’m stalled, considering what happens if I stay in this room. I’m paralyzed. Fear. Indecision.

“Cody, I…” I start, but don’t know how to finish.

“Just stay,” he says, his voice barely audible, and the air released from his words sends more chills around my neck and down my entire body.

“Just…” I hear him swallow, and even though I can’t see him, I know he’s struggling. I keep my eyes forward and watch his fingers curl into a fist on the door, clinching tightly. “I won’t…I wouldn’t make you uncomfortable. I’m not asking you to do anything. Please…please just stay,” his head falling flat against the back of mine as he speaks. I can feel him breathe me in, and I feel like I’m racing down a hill, lightheaded from the conflict brewing inside.

“Okay,” I whisper, not even aware that it was me speaking. I’m on autopilot, turning away from the path I know and recognize on the other side of the door, but desperately worried that it won’t be there when I finally leave this room.

Cody’s hand slides from the door to my shoulder, and I shiver as he traces the back of his fingers down the length of my arm until he finds my hand once again. He pulls me to him, forcing me to turn into his body. I keep my eyes focused on the words on his shirt, reading the dates and towns to myself. Some tour shirt—a concert, perhaps? Or maybe a race? I’m trying to keep my mind busy with this pointless task when Cody reaches for my chin and pulls my face to look at his.

His eyes are serious. Even in the darkness of his room, I can see the flecks of blue—I’m that close. I watch them as they move to the side of my face to follow his hand as he pushes my hair away from my face slowly, tucking it behind my ear but leaving it there, his fingers tangled deep within my hair. He tilts his head to the side, and I think for a moment that he’s about to kiss me. I lick my lips on instinct, and I feel him tense up from it.

His hand forces me forward into him and I close my eyes, almost believing that if I don’t see it coming I won’t be able to stop it. I feel his chest press to mine next, then his hand wraps deeper into my hair so he’s cradling the back of my head. His other hand slides up my side to the middle of my back, and his chin comes down above my head so I’m completely tucked within his embrace. I’m sheltered, and it’s the first time I’ve ever felt my heart actually stop from being in someone’s arms.

Giving in, I bring my hands up Cody’s back so I’m hugging him tightly to me, my fingers gripping at his torn T-shirt. I slide my face flat against him and let out everything I’ve been holding in—it feels like for years.

It’s New Year’s Eve and you find yourself back in your hometown, where you remember both good and not so-good memories. Regardless, you’re back and you aren’t the same as you were when you first left this place. You’re single and looking for a one-night-stand to have fun with while ringing in the new year. There was someone in this town who use to be your best friend but during high school, that someone became a stranger to you. Even so, you came out tonight with the small chance of running into this ex-BFF at the small local bar. Why? What for? You have no clue but you’re here. This is what Dr. Ashley Hanes is asking herself while she searches for her next no-strings-attached hook-up to ring in the new year with. All the while her ex-best friend Ethan Pierce is searching for his own one-night hook up while he visits the old hometown that he loathes. As the reader I’m happy to let you know that you do get two P.O.V.’s(point of views) in this story. You’ll follow the story in both main characters’ Ethan Pierce and Ashley Hanes.

Doctor Ashley Hanes moves back to her hometown after taking a position at the local hospital. This town holds a history to her but her fondest and hardest memory is that of her former best friend, Ethan Pierce. Ashley has grown from an average girl to a beautiful, confident and successful woman. She moves back home to care for her mother after her father’s passing. She has made a habit of satisfying her needs with one-night hook ups. One New Year’s Eve she had no idea her life would take her back in time while changing her life in ways she never expected.

Former high-school geek, Ethan Pierce was once a scrawny guy, who use to wear over sized glasses, stuttered and was picked on in high-school. Ashley Hanes was his best friend regardless of how anyone else treated him and he had a huge crush on her. After he discovered something in high school, he stopped being her friend and ignored her from then on. Ethan resented their hometown because of the horrible memories of being picked-on. Now as an adult, Ethan is no longer that scrawny, geeky guy, he is now a successful IT guy, attractive, sexy and lives far away in California. On New Year’s Eve, he heads out while visiting his hometown in hopes of finding a sexy lady interested in a fun one-night stand. He didn’t count on her being in town or being there of all places.

This is a hot and fun story about a long-lost friendship that seems to have hopes for more when the two former-high school friends meet again nine years later as confident, sexy and successful adults. Are the feelings between Ethan and Ashley just the thrill of their past unrequited feelings or is this something with potential for a future? Can Ashley truly get over the fact that Ethan hurt her long ago when he abruptly stopped being her friend? And can Ethan finally admit his old feelings were more than a crush or will his dislike for this town send him running away again? This novella is a fun and steamy read. Ashley to Ethan: “When you walk away from me in the morning—and don’t worry, I won’t try to stop you—I’ll miss you. I just thought you should know.”

Ethan to his brother Alex: “I almost want to stay. Move back here and live in this godforsaken town, just so I can see her. Be with her. I almost want to stop running.”

My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ of the Novel ‘Scarred Love’:

Where do I begin with the review for ‘Scarred Love’? The story was a great story, very dark and yet captivating in it’s own way. You can’t help but sympathize for ‘Margaret’ Darcie Claiborne-Stein in the story as the main character who is both heroine and victim, depending what chapter you are reading. The main character Darcie aka Margaret is raised by her mother, who marries a very wealthy man who adores her but truly mistreats her daughter, Darcie ‘Margaret’ in horrid ways. Darcie seems like a very silent child, sheltering her feelings because of the evil ways her step-father punishes her even when she’s done nothing wrong. This story will pull you in and makes you hope to see a happy ending for the girl who never knew love for most her life. You will get two P.O.V.’s(Point of views) in this story from both Darcie ‘Margaret’ Claiborne and the main male character, Reggie Evans.

The main female character is seventeen year old Darcie Claiborne, who’s first name is ‘Margaret’, which she hates for a few main reasons and never uses anymore. She’s a beautiful young teenager who’s scarred both inside and out because of the years of torment she suffered under the hands of her step-father, Robert Stein. She is thin, with dark hair and fights a lot to channel the anger she’s carried for so long. She was rescued from her nightmare life by a stranger who was jogging by one day and since that day, she’s become a part of his unusual but loving and protective family.

Reggie Evans rescued Darcie and took her under his wing and into his home after he found her. He is the guardian and older brother to twins Jake and Jeremy Evans and Drake Evans, who all live together. Darcie has become a part of their family. Each character has their own personality which helps to keep the story entertaining. The new family that Darcie lives with has their own secrets and past that may be hard to keep a lid on forever. Reggie is strong, tall and fit with blondish hair and a former MMA fighter who retired early to raise his brothers. He’s a definite heroine in the story because he gives up so much for his family.

In every story where there are heroines, you will also find villains. Robert Stein is the true epitome of an evil villain. How he treated a young child like ‘Margaret’ Darcie through the years makes you loathe his disgusting existence. No matter how much negative and terrible things come Darcie’s way, she seems like such a strong character and you know her heart is big because she will risk anything for those she cares for. Reggie is the same way. He gives up so much and takes chances to protect and help those he loves in his life. This truly is a great story with a lot of dark moments but there are also many triumphant moments that make it all better. I do recommend this story and I will definitely continue with this series.

My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ of the Novel ‘Fighting For Flight’:

In life everyone is faced with choices and the consequences of the bad choices can brand us for life, and we can feel the effects of the bad choices others make for us. In ‘Fighting For Flight’, a young woman who became a prostitute under the deceitful direction of a well-known pimp in Las Vegas named Dominick Morretti, becomes pregnant with his child. He allows her to give birth only under an evil and manipulative agreement that one day, when this child grows up, she too will have to live that lifestyle and follow in her mother’s footsteps. In this story you get to read the story from two P.O.V.’s (Point of views) which are of the two main characters: Raven Morretti and Jonah “The Assassin” Slade.

Raven Morretti is the twenty-year old daughter of a pimp and a prostitute who lives in Las Vegas. She was raised by her prostitute/escort mother who never showed her love, affection or warmth through out her life growing up. Her pimp father, Dominick Morretti, was never really around because he had no interest in her, not yet anyway. Raven is described as having a nice body with curves in the right places, jet-black hair that flowed down her back, aquamarine colored-eyes and the trail of black birds tattooed down her back. Raven has lived a simple and modest life as a mechanic under a boss named ‘Guy’ who has treated her like she was his own daughter. One day a new customer walks in needing work down on an older car he owns. Only thing is he isn’t a regular guy, he’s the very well-known UFL Heavyweight fighter Jonah “The Assassin” Slade.

Now let’s talk about Jonah, shall we? He’s described as a true Alpha-male with the professionally-trained fighting skills to back it up. He is tall, muscular build, with dark colored short hair and eyes, some tattoos and a strong but handsome face. He has never committed to a woman but he’s never had a problem getting female groupies who hook-up with him for a mixture of his good looks, money or local-celebrity status. Things chance for “The Assassin” when he goes to a local mechanic shop to see about getting his classic car worked on. That’s when he meets a surprisingly beautiful and hot mechanic named Raven.

As their worlds collide and their professional relationship seems to have potential to blossom into something more, Raven has a haunting history that threatens to completely destroy her present and future life forever. Raven comes across as a sweet and innocent young woman despite who her parents are and what they do. This makes Jonah feel a little more protective of her as their feelings grow for each other in the story. Once certain truths come to light, Raven and Jonah are faced with decisions that could ruin their lives or simply destroy what they’ve both worked hard to become.

Yes, I do recommend this story because it’s not solely about the blossoming relationship between Jonah and Raven but it also keeps you entertained with the guessing game of who are the players that the pimp Dominic has in play inside their lives unbeknownst to them both. You also meet many supporting characters that are far beyond one dimensional characters such as Blake, Guy and Eve a little. Dominick is definitely the villain and he is truly someone you will loathe for wanting to use Raven for his sick and twisted controlling-game. Check it out and be ready for the rest of this series as it continues…

Jonah “The Assassin” Slade’s thoughts: To think that I could experience this all-consuming lust, as well as the soul-shackling love that I would die to keep, is life changing. This tiny girl who works on cars, laughs at stupid jokes, and blushes at the slightest flirtation is mine.

Raven Morretti’s thoughts: I want him, but more than that, I want him to be happy-to have a life with a woman who can love him the way he deserves to be loved: a woman free from the ugliness of my reality.

Raven Morretti’s thoughts: First, Jonah loves me. And, second, I don’t know what the future will bring, but whatever happens, I won’t be facing it alone.

Meaning it is the dawn of the ‘Justice League’, especially since it will have Justice League characters: Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman in the film. Who is excited for the film?

As if the DC Comic fan world was not jumping with excitement already with the news of two of their biggest known characters, Batman and Superman teaming up in the Man Of Steel sequel film “Batman vs Superman”. And now that we wait anxiously and happily for this sequel film, it’s great news to hear that another DC superhero will be joining the two male characters. For the females who love to have a lady to admire and men who can appreciate a strong female heroine, Wonder Woman will be the third character to join in the Man Of Steel sequel “Batman vs Superman” due out in 2016.

Warner Bros. and Zack Snyder have cast Israeli-born actress Gal Gadot in the iconic role and the Wonder Woman character will be a part of the film that will see Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck square off as Superman and Batman. Gadot has been in three Fast & Furious films, as well as Knight And Day and Date Night.

We truly hope that this is all gearing-up toward a long-awaited Justice League film which would be based on the DC Comics characters.

Production for the Fifty Shades Of Grey movie has officially begun, which had been rescheduled to begin filming on December 2nd, 2013. Check out the latest photos circulating from the first day of ‘Fifty Shades’ filming with Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele and Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey. They were filming in the GasTown District of Vancouver, Canada.

Producer Dana Brunetti of Fifty Shades Of Grey, spoke about possibly releasing two versions for the film with different ratings to please the general audience as well as the hardcore fans of the novel ‘as is’:

“It’ll be R, obviously it has to be R. This is just my opinion and this doesn’t mean this is going to happen, but I always thought it would be really cool if we released the R version and then we had an NC-17 version that we released a few weeks later. So everybody could go and enjoy the R version, and then if they really wanted to see it again and get a little bit more gritty with it then have that NC-17 version out there as well. It’d be great for the studio too because they’d get a double dip on the box office… What we’re kind of hearing from the fans is they want it dirty, they want it as close as possible [to the book]. We want to keep it elevated but also give the fans what they want.”-via: Collider.
