“A journey through life, loss & love.”

Young Astraea Salvo and Gabriel Varon discover a new friendship after separate tragedies change their lives. Together, they develop an affinity that quickly grows into an incredible bond despite the challenges of distance and the turbulence of adolescence. Unfortunately, nothing could prepare them for what was yet to come.

With war comes invisible wounds which are the toughest to heal. After combat in the Middle East, Gabriel must face his most difficult battle within himself.

With life comes love which is the hardest to keep. Astraea must overcome an intense loss and the growing distance between her and Gabriel as their lives pull them in different directions.

As adults, the two struggle to accept that their once unshakable friendship may never be the same again. But their genuine feelings continue to remind them that their bond will never completely be broken. In life, hearts don’t always win and the past isn’t always easy to escape. Will the unrelenting ties that bind them be able to defy the odds?

After all, anything worth fighting for never comes easy but will always be worth it in the end.

Monday by E.L. Todd 1

The Synopsis:

I don’t believe in destiny.

In fate.

Or in soul mates.

But I believe in Hawke.

My life has never been whole since my parents left forever. I have my brother, someone I can barely tolerate most of the time, and I have my best friend, Marie.

And I have myself.

But when Hawke walks into my life, there’s an immediate connection. Our eyes lock and an unspoken conversation is exchanged. For the first time in my life, I actually feel something.

But he doesn’t.

He keeps me at arm’s length and pretends there’s nothing between us when there clearly is. I’m not the kind of girl to wait around for any guy, so I don’t.

But that doesn’t mean he isn’t in the back of my mind.

Our paths cross again in a way neither one of us expect and it changes everything. Was it destiny that made it happen? Was it fate?

Or was it something else?

My ‘Blogging Reader’s ARC-Review’ after reading ‘MONDAY’ by E. L. Todd:

“Monday” is the first novel of the Timeless Series by author E. L. Todd. This is my first time reading this author’s work and it definitely was not a disappointment. This book is of the New Adult genre as well as a Contemporary Romance. Readers will be reading “Monday” through the two main character’s P.O.V.’s(point of views) which are Francesca “Frankie” and Theodore “Hawke”.

Francesca “Frankie” works at a local coffee shop and is a student at the nearby university. She has dreams of one day opening her own bake shop business, which comes from her love of baking that she learned from her grandma “Yaya”. Dating isn’t really on her mind but when her flirty best friend Marie talks her into flirting with a regular mysterious customer that comes into the coffee shop, she decides to give flirting a try. As she gets to know the really attractive guy at the coffee shop, she becomes interested in getting to know more about him. There’s one problem: His mixed signals are very hard to read.

Hawke is a very simple man when it comes to women. He doesn’t mislead them in any way. Only pleasure is the mutual enjoyment he’ll share with them for a short time but no strings attached is the only way he’ll do that. There is something about beautiful Frankie from the coffee house. She’s sweet but confident and there’s a natural sexiness that just draws him in. He doesn’t keep an emotional distance to hurt anyone. Hawke keeps his walls up because there are dark secrets he keeps to himself that he doesn’t ever want to show someone if he were to risk getting close to them.

After an evening together of what feels like a genuine growing connection, the night ends on a strange and confusing note. This leaves Frankie wondering “What went wrong?” When Frankie finds herself in a surprising predicament, she has to find a way to maneuver herself around the holidays and the surprises she finds when she visits her family. Will Hawke give Frankie a chance or is he destined to never truly know what love is? What are the secrets that Hawke is keeping about his life? How will Frankie deal with her brother Axel’s surprise?

“Monday” is such an emotional roller-coaster. It takes you on a tail-spin of highs and lows. Francesca “Frankie” is a strong female character with a few flaws. Hawke is a mysterious man with dark reasons for why he keeps his distance but there is more to him. He’s a very passionate person but carries a darkness that will either consume him or force him to fight that part of himself once and for all. There is something alluring about reading a story with such strong characters with many imperfections. You can’t help but hope they get things right. I do recommend this novel for anyone who can accept reading a story about intense, imperfect and raw characters who expose a kaleidoscope of feelings due to their background of heartache or cruelty. A few notes for readers: This story ends on somewhat of a Cliffhanger and there is talk of abuse in the story. Check this one out when you’re looking for the next intense and intriguing novel to read!

1 star rating 4.5

How I imagined the characters while reading ‘MONDAY’:

1 collage 4

Frankie’s thoughts:  I just didn’t feel anything for any of them. Not like I did with Hawke. Why? Why did I want a guy clearly unavailable? It was so annoying. There was a plethora of guys at school. Why couldn’t I just like one of them?

Hawke’s thoughts:  She was different than other girls. She was smart, confident, and strong. She took care of herself and didn’t need a man to help her out of a boat or carry her pack on a hike. And that was why I couldn’t be with her.

Hawke’s thoughts:  …I’d completely misread her.
And I felt like an idiot.
I didn’t want to walk away the way I did. But I didn’t want to give her a reason to call me. I pushed her away so she wouldn’t want anything to do with me. Because I knew I would struggle to stay away from her.

Hawke’s thoughts:  The moment we met, there was something there. I didn’t know what it was, and I wasn’t even sure if it was real. But then she said she felt it too, whatever it was that existed between us. I was a dark man set in his ways, but the moment she walked into my life, I completely changed- for the better. I didn’t know what that connection was even though I’d spent every day trying to figure it out.

COVER REVEAL and TEASER! Featured Novel and Author: “Blindness” by Author Ginger Scott.

Updated with a Teaser to “Blindness”: Jan.12th, 2014

★Here is the COVER REVEAL
for the Upcoming Novel Release
by Ginger Scott titled: BLINDNESS★

Blindness by Ginger Scott★Blindness will be available Feb.2014. BooksMoviesFandoms will activate the cover above for you to click on it when it’s available to order.★

Our featured author is Ginger Scott.
Her upcoming novel is titled: BLINDNESS.

The synopsis for “BLINDNESS”:

It takes a while to know who you really are. And when you lose your way, sometimes it’s hard to find it again.

Charlie Hudson was on the verge of figuring that out when her dad—the only parent and friend she ever had—died suddenly. She was barely 18, and she was alone. So she went for easy—playing life safe, running away from a home that harbored nothing but bad memories and challenges and loving a man who would take her away from it all forever.

It’s funny how chance takes over when you need it most. And that’s exactly what brought Cody Carmichael into her life. A former motocross super star, Cody was now happy to be living the blue collar life, spending his days finishing up school and his nights under the hood of some classic car, just trying to keep everything his father taught him alive. Cody and Charlie were living parallel lives, until they finally collided. And the moment he smiled at her, Charlie knew he was the one who would change everything. But was she willing to take the risk?

Cody saw through it all. He saw her—all of her. But would letting him in be too much to take? And if Charlie let herself love him—really love him—could he love her back?

Novel TEASER from “BLINDNESS” by Author Ginger Scott:

Cody is still next to me, his grip on my hand once again strong, but his body is stiff. I’m rewinding mentally, realizing just how far I went. Shit! I said way too much! I don’t even know what I’m doing here. This all suddenly feels way too intimate—wrong. My pulse is speeding up the more I think about what Trevor would think if he saw me, saw this—saw us!

I slide the pillow from my chest to the side and work my fingers until they’re out of Cody’s grip. He remains next to me, but isn’t moving. I’m pretty sure I just made him feel unwelcome in his own bed, the awkwardness creeping in now and almost choking me. I have to leave, leave this bed and then leave this room. I’ll be calm until I shut his door, and then I’m running.

Yes, that’s it. I’ll run.

“Oh God, I’m sorry. I just unloaded, like, way too much on you. I’m…I’m just going to go,” I say, pushing myself up to sit at the side of the bed and slip on my shoes. The light is dim, but I can tell that Cody’s eyes have shifted to me. He’s still not moving or speaking, and I don’t really want him to. I just want to get out of his room without him saying a word.

“Thank you, truly,” I say as I stand and look once more at the ceiling. “The stars? They’re amazing,” my voice wavers, and I turn and walk to his door. I’m gripping the handle, willing myself to keep it together for just a few more seconds until I’m out of his view, when I feel his body behind me and see his hand flat against the door.

His breath against my neck raises every hair on my body. I’m looking intently at his fingers splayed out on the wood paneling of the door in front of me, my hands still gripping the door handle. Beyond this door, my life continues on one path—a path I know. A path I love. But I’m stalled, considering what happens if I stay in this room. I’m paralyzed. Fear. Indecision.

“Cody, I…” I start, but don’t know how to finish.

“Just stay,” he says, his voice barely audible, and the air released from his words sends more chills around my neck and down my entire body.

“Just…” I hear him swallow, and even though I can’t see him, I know he’s struggling. I keep my eyes forward and watch his fingers curl into a fist on the door, clinching tightly. “I won’t…I wouldn’t make you uncomfortable. I’m not asking you to do anything. Please…please just stay,” his head falling flat against the back of mine as he speaks. I can feel him breathe me in, and I feel like I’m racing down a hill, lightheaded from the conflict brewing inside.

“Okay,” I whisper, not even aware that it was me speaking. I’m on autopilot, turning away from the path I know and recognize on the other side of the door, but desperately worried that it won’t be there when I finally leave this room.

Cody’s hand slides from the door to my shoulder, and I shiver as he traces the back of his fingers down the length of my arm until he finds my hand once again. He pulls me to him, forcing me to turn into his body. I keep my eyes focused on the words on his shirt, reading the dates and towns to myself. Some tour shirt—a concert, perhaps? Or maybe a race? I’m trying to keep my mind busy with this pointless task when Cody reaches for my chin and pulls my face to look at his.

His eyes are serious. Even in the darkness of his room, I can see the flecks of blue—I’m that close. I watch them as they move to the side of my face to follow his hand as he pushes my hair away from my face slowly, tucking it behind my ear but leaving it there, his fingers tangled deep within my hair. He tilts his head to the side, and I think for a moment that he’s about to kiss me. I lick my lips on instinct, and I feel him tense up from it.

His hand forces me forward into him and I close my eyes, almost believing that if I don’t see it coming I won’t be able to stop it. I feel his chest press to mine next, then his hand wraps deeper into my hair so he’s cradling the back of my head. His other hand slides up my side to the middle of my back, and his chin comes down above my head so I’m completely tucked within his embrace. I’m sheltered, and it’s the first time I’ve ever felt my heart actually stop from being in someone’s arms.

Giving in, I bring my hands up Cody’s back so I’m hugging him tightly to me, my fingers gripping at his torn T-shirt. I slide my face flat against him and let out everything I’ve been holding in—it feels like for years.

Note from MG Blogger of BooksMoviesFandoms:  Once I’ve read this wonderful new Novel, I’ll post a review for it! So stay tuned… looking forward to this great new story with a whole new world of characters from one of my favorite authors. Till this novel is released, make sure to check out her previous work: Waiting On The Sidelines and Going Long.

Synopsis for ‘Scarred Love’ via Goodreads:

Darcie Claiborne spent several years of her young life living with a monster, always fearing what he would do next. Clasping onto her last ounce of hope, Darcie releases a scream. It’s her final attempt to live; to survive the villain of her reality. Sweeping her up in his arms, Darcie’s knight in shining armor rescues her from the hell she’s been living; from the stepfather she’s feared for all those years.

Reggie Evans has been forced to grow up before he’s ready when his mother dies of an overdose, leaving him responsible to raise his younger brothers. One fateful night, Reggie jogs by an old, run down house and discovers a young girl clinging to life as she screams for help.

Three years later, Darcie is healing and always protected by the man who saved her, but now she’s fighting with something she isn’t prepared to face. The growing love for the man who saved her life three years ago, the same man who’s nine years older. All the while, Reggie fights to protect Darcie from the demons of her past and new ones of her present.

My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ of the Novel ‘Scarred Love’:

Where do I begin with the review for ‘Scarred Love’?  The story was a great story, very dark and yet captivating in it’s own way.  You can’t help but sympathize for ‘Margaret’ Darcie Claiborne-Stein in the story as the main character who is both heroine and victim, depending what chapter you are reading.  The main character Darcie aka Margaret is raised by her mother, who marries a very wealthy man who adores her but truly mistreats her daughter, Darcie ‘Margaret’ in horrid ways.  Darcie seems like a very silent child, sheltering her feelings because of the evil ways her step-father punishes her even when she’s done nothing wrong.  This story will pull you in and makes you hope to see a happy ending for the girl who never knew love for most her life. You will get two P.O.V.’s(Point of views) in this story from both Darcie ‘Margaret’ Claiborne and the main male character, Reggie Evans.

The main female character is seventeen year old Darcie Claiborne, who’s first name  is ‘Margaret’, which she hates for a few main reasons and never uses anymore.  She’s a beautiful young teenager who’s scarred both inside and out because of the years of torment she suffered under the hands of her step-father, Robert Stein.  She is thin, with dark hair and fights a lot to channel the anger she’s carried for so long.  She was rescued from her nightmare life by a stranger who was jogging by one day and since that day, she’s become a part of his unusual but loving and protective family.

Reggie Evans rescued Darcie and took her under his wing and into his home after he found her.  He is the guardian and older brother to twins Jake and Jeremy Evans and Drake Evans, who all live together.  Darcie has become a part of their family. Each character has their own personality which helps to keep the story entertaining.  The new family that Darcie lives with has their own secrets and past that may be hard to keep a lid on forever.  Reggie is strong, tall and fit with blondish hair and a former MMA fighter who retired early to raise his brothers.  He’s a definite heroine in the story because he gives up so much for his family.

In every story where there are heroines, you will also find villains. Robert Stein is the true epitome of an evil villain.  How he treated a young child like ‘Margaret’ Darcie through the years makes you loathe his disgusting existence.  No matter how much negative and terrible things come Darcie’s way, she seems like such a strong character and you know her heart is big because she will risk anything for those she cares for.  Reggie is the same way.  He gives up so much and takes chances to protect and help those he loves in his life.  This truly is a great story with a lot of dark moments but there are also many triumphant moments that make it all better.  I do recommend this story and I will definitely continue with this series.

How I imagined Darcie and Reggie while reading ‘Scarred Love’. 🙂

Darcie 'Margaret' Clairborne and Reggie EvansAnd how I imagined Reggie’s brothers/Darcie’s adopted brothers & her new friend Presley
(left to right) Presley Quinn, her new boyfriend Drake Evans, twins Jeremy and Jake Evans.

the brothers and presley

One of Darcie song choices – “Creep”:

A song that fits Darcie and Reggie:

Darcie Claiborne’s thoughts:  Once he returns, I will no longer be the fourteen-year-old girl he blames for her death, but a fourteen-year old replacement for his dead wife.

Darcie Claiborne and Reggie Evans:
“Are you… my knight in shining armor?”-Darcie.
“Always.  You’re safe now.”-Reggie.
For the first time in my fourteen years of life, I feel what I’ve craved all along…hope.

Darcie Claiborne’s thoughts:  There is nothing I wouldn’t do for these guys, and even though we are not related by blood, they’re my family.

Reggie Evan’s thoughts:  …I did the only thing I could to save her, save my family.  I made a deal with the devil and it’s been costing me ever since.

Darcie Claiborne’s thoughts on new friend Presley:  We all look at Presley for her toast and she says,”To new beginnings, new friendships and survival.”  Momentarily, I wonder what she means by survival.  This girl is deeper than expected and may have a past like the rest of us…

Presley Quinn to Darcie Claiborne:  “When he glances up and smiles at you, it’s different from the smiles he gives her.” Presley motions to Natasha.  “It’s like he’s saving his true smiles for only you.”

Darcie Claiborne’s thoughts:  I want him.  I want him so bad it’s excruciating.  I want him in all the ways a woman can have a man.  The feeling is torturous.

Darcie Claiborne’s thoughts:  I know I will never love anyone as much as I do Reggie.  He is and will always be my salvation;  the face of peace, happiness and survival.  I will love him forever… always.

Reggie Evan’s thoughts:  She is the one who I will do anything for, regardless of what it is.  She could lie, steal or cheat and it wouldn’t matter.  I would save her.

Reggie Evan’s thoughts:  I’m pissed I’ve acted like a jerk to her over the last month.  All because I love her, I tried to push her away, but the only thing I’ve done is handed her over to a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

Darcie Claiborne’s thoughts:  From this moment on, when I look at my body, I won’t be reminded of the pain I suffered, I will be reminded of the trauma I have survived.

Jake Undone by Penelope Ward

The Plot Summary and My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ of ‘Jake Undone’ combined:

First off, “Whoa!” That is definitely one word that describes how I felt when I first saw the cover for ‘Jake Undone’ by author Penelope Ward. 🙂 It’s always a plus when a great cover precedes, followed by an absolutely great story who’s characters draw you into the storyline. The story follows Jake Green and Nina Kennedy who meet after becoming roommates in Brooklyn, begin to develop a friendship but secrets seem to lurk around every corner that could jeopardize their growing relations. This novel is a part of the New Adult Genre and as the reader, you get to enjoy the story told in the two P.O.V.’s(Point Of Views) of Nina and Jake.

Nina Kennedy just moved to Brooklyn to live with her older brother’s best friend Ryan from high-school and two other roommates that share a four-bedroom apartment. She has big blue eyes, her hair color is dirty blonde, and she was always compared to the Olsen Twins by her older brother and Ryan growing up. She get’s an interesting surprise on her first day at the new apartment when she arrives, but doesn’t let anyone know what she overheard right off. Brooklyn would become her home while she attends a nursing school nearby. Nina has a few fears that she has learned to live with instead of actually facing them, fears such as elevators, subways and anything else that could make her feel trapped. While talking to the old family friend and roommate Ryan, in walks the other male roommate, Jake.  Nina can’t seem to shake this instant attraction to him even though he is nothing like any guy she’s ever known or dated. Nina had no idea how much Jake would surprise her the more they get to know each other.

Jake Green has dark hair with green eyes, a well-sculpted body; his arms have tattoos and he has a few facial piercings that include his eyebrow and lip piercing. One look at him, and anyone who didn’t know better would automatically assume he was trouble. The only thing is, there is more to him than meets-the-eye.  Jake is a smart engineer who most assume is a womanizer, and who might not be up to any good because he’s such a secretive guy that no one really knows much about. His own roommates had no clue about why Jake would always travel back home to Boston every weekend and he liked keeping it that way. His love for bananas was adorable and the line ‘I love you to the moon’ just warms the heart when you read how that ties into Jake’s character. Behind his exterior and his sarcastic and flirtatious personality, there are reasons he chose to keep most of his private life a secret from others. This seems to work fine for him, until Nina walks into his life, changing everything completely.

I honestly have to admit, this story was truly entertaining and enjoyable.  I kid-you-not. I laughed at the sarcastic conversations the characters had, I teared up when times got tough, my heart warmed for the truly touching moments, and the song ‘Yesterday’ was so fitting for the scene it was a part of.  And I can’t forget to mention the sexy scenes, which were really hot and steamy! 🙂 I absolutely recommend this story because there is a high chance it will leave you, the reader, ‘undone’ and you’ll be happy it did.  It reminds you that you can’t always judge someone at first glance; things happen for a reason even if the the reasoning comes at a later time and reminds you that everyone has their own demons they may be struggling to battle with in life.

How I imagined Nina and Jake while reading ‘Jake Undone’! (Yes, the cover was sufficient enough for me) 🙂

1 jake and nina 2

The Song ‘Yesterday’- *tear*

Nina and Ryan:  “So we’re still not taking subways, not riding in elevators, not flying.  What else are we afraid of these days?  Our own shadow?”-Ryan.
“We are working on it, Ry… I told you.”-Nina

Nina meets Jake:  Come to think of it, Jake was like a black cat- gorgeous, but very likely bad luck if it crossed your path.  “Nice to meet you, Jake.”

Nina’s thoughts:  I had a lot on my mind, from anxiety about classes starting Monday to my unwanted attraction to my tattooed, pierced, smoking hot roommate, who based on first impressions, was quite likely a man-whore.

Nina to Jake:  “I never thanked you for my bat.”-Nina.   He said nothing, just smiled, winked and stuck out his tongue in jest.  For the first time I noticed it was pierced too.  Damn.

Nina’s thoughts:  I had yet to meet someone like Jake:  dark and dangerous on the outside but smart and clever on the inside; someone who owned a room the second he stepped into it.

Jake and Nina:  Jake’s eyes darkened and met mine.  “Sometimes if you are willing to withstand a little pain in life, Nina, you might discover a pleasure that you never would have otherwise known existed.”-Jake.

Tarrah to Nina:  “I’ve seen the way Jake looks at you when you don’t even realize it.  I don’t know what he did or said or didn’t say last night, but the dude does have feelings for you.”-Tarrah.   “I guess it’s just… complicated.”-Nina.

Nina’s thoughts:  He brought me back to life.  He brought me back to life, and he could very well be the death of me all over again.  It would be worth the risk.  But he’s holding all the cards.

Nina’s thoughts:  Lesson learned.  People are not always what they seem on the surface.

Jake to Nina:  “I have tried so hard to stop these feelings.  I have put up so many barriers as I could stand to, but they are crumbling down.  I can’t do it anymore.”

Jake’s thoughts:  She made me feel alive after years of being emotionally dead.

Jake:  “My body belongs to you.”
“My heart belongs to you.”
“My soul belongs to you.”
“Only to you.”
