My ‘Blogging Reader’s ARC-Review’ after reading ‘A GIRL LIKE ME’ by Ginger Scott:

A Girl Like Me is the second novel of the Like Us Series by the wonderful author Ginger Scott. This series is definitely different than previous work by Ginger Scott but also similar in some ways. How it’s similar: We get to enjoy a heartwarming romance with a coming-of-age feel and sports is involved. Gotta’ love it! 🙂 How it’s unique from her other work: You WILL miss out on an extraordinary read if you turn away because of what’s different about it. This novel has the contemporary romance and coming-of-age feel, but it blends it with a little taste of sci-fi, beautifully and masterfully. This series, both books 1 and 2, are mind-blowing and emotionally-captivating. This novel is a part of the Young Adult genre and is a Contemporary Romance, but as I said in my previous review of the first novel in the Like Us Series, these novels surpass those general genres with an amazing storyline. A Girl Like Me is written from the main character’s P.O.V.(Point of view), Josselyn “Joss” Winters.

Josselyn Winters has set off on a road trip with her long time friend Kyle with two main goals in mind. The first is to go to Arizona and visit her maternal-grandmother, whom she never really knew since she was estranged from her mother. Joss goes in search of some kind of peace for herself and for a past filled with questions unanswered since childhood. What she finds may be more than she could’ve ever expected about her past, her mother, and the strength she may get from seeking that closure.

The second reason Joss sets off is to search for Wes who went missing after saving her life. Wes’s adoptive family have begun to make peace with the fact that he may be dead. They’re heartbroken but Josselyn is determined to find him. She can’t shake this feeling that he’s alive especially since she’s been receiving cryptic messages from him. What will she find? Will Josselyn believe everything she finds out or is it all a strange mystery that will never make real sense? And we find out the answer to the biggest question in this series: What happened to Wes and will everything be explained?

When Josselyn’s life becomes this twisted whirlwind of events, how will she handle it all? And who is the suspicious threat has been lurking lately? There are so many questions, but they all get answered. A Girl Like Me is a riveting and incredible novel that brings you full-circle in a Josselyn and Wes’s world. The characters are perfection and even the supporting characters were well-written. I highly recommend this impressively-stunning novel and series! Make sure to add “A Boy Like You” and “A Girl Like Me” to your TBR list today! They are worth the read, for sure! ❤

“Asher Black” is the debut novel from new author Parker S. Huntington. I will begin my review by stating that, for a debut novel, this was gripping and enthralling from start to finish. This fast-paced novel is filled with high-volume sexual tension, witty banter, and unknown danger that just keeps this story flowing smoothly. The characters are an enticing blend of: Alluring successful man who potentially has strong ties to the mafia who meets a tough and beautiful college student who uses her guile when necessary. Asher Black is written in the main female character’s P.O.V.(Point of view), Lucy Ives.

Lucy is new to New York. As a new student attending the prestigious and respected Wilton University, her life seems headed in the right direction. She quickly starts up a friendship with her new roommate Aimee. Before long, a night out dancing turns into an unexpected night of twists and turns for Lucy. After experiencing a steamy moment, witnessing an altercation that snowballed, and trying to forget what she witnessed and did, will Lucy be able to move past that night?

Asher Black is known as a dangerous man and someone you do not want to mess with. On top of that, he’s disgustingly rich, successful, and attractive beyond words. His rumored ties to the Romano mafia family, just add to the reasons why you don’t want to cross him. This dangerously entertaining novel delivers on everything you’d hope for from a story-line with a very fierce, at times ruthless, and always sexy man like Asher Black. And, you can’t forget the strong-willed, kindhearted, and beautiful Lucy Ives who is a survivor and not easily breakable despite the rough terrain she’s had to withstand in her past. I recommend this great novel for readers looking to read something with action, romance, and an entertaining story. Lucy’s thoughts: He’s breathtaking. My eyes trace the defined edges of his jaw, entranced. He has a face that belongs on the big screen, but my intuition tells me he’ll never agree to such exposure. It’s his eyes that convey this to me. They’re intelligent but also guarded.

Lucy’ thoughts: The shallow, senseless part of me tells me to forget who Asher is. To acknowledge and accept that my life will soon be over. That part of me is encouraging me to just take a moment to enjoy the touch of a gorgeous man before it happens. Even if that gorgeous man may eventually be my killer.

Lucy’s thoughts on Asher’s words: There is nothing I won’t do for the ones I love.
I’ll remember his warning for as long as I live. I was wrong. His love isn’t his weakness.

Lucy and Asher Black: I’m emotional because he defended me. I can’t tell him this, though. It makes me too vulnerable.
His eyes look earnest and void of judgement when he says, “It’s okay to cry at kindness. This is the first time someone has stood up for you, but it won’t be the last. I’ll always look after you, okay?”
Of course, he figured it out.
This is Asher Black.
“You’re different than I thought you’d be.”
Back then, I thought he was cruel, calculated, and perceptive. A lethal weapon. I was right. But I was also wrong. He’s so much more than that.

Lucy and Asher Black: “I just… I can’t help but feel like I should be doing this…”
“Don’t.” The harshness in his voice is shocking. “Don’t even think about it, Lucy. Between your life and hers, yours is the one that matters. Every. Single. Time.
Because you’re mine.”
