An adaptation can be a hit-or-miss when it shifts from a books audience to the movie viewers. But this is the risk worth taking when a great book is made into a film. Lately, we’ve witnessed many amazing book to movie adaptations that have given fans, fandoms and newcomers a chance to enjoy a visual of many fascinating stories. Below is a list I’ve compiled with some of the adaptations that will be coming to a theater near you in 2015. Maybe you’ll see one you like on the list below. The film tells the story of James “Whitey” Bulger, an Irish street punk in Boston with a penchant for rape and robbery, who spent much of his early life incarcerated. When released from Alcatraz, Whitey returned to his thug lifestyle and rose to power in organized crime by using his FBI informant status to bring down the Italian mafia in New England. He and his fellow hood Steve Flemmi, fed incriminating information on the Italian mob to FBI agents John J. My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading ‘A Father’s Fight’ (Fighting Series – Book #5):

WARNING: Possible SPOILERS if you haven’t read the previous Novels of the Fighting Series.

“A Father’s Fight” is the fifth of the Fighting Series from J. B. Salsbury and it helps readers get to know Layla and Blake from book #2 so much more. This series has yet to let me down and constantly makes my anticipation high as I read from page to page. The characters continue to be intriguing and there is so many fulfilling moments within this book and series. In A Father’s Fight we are given the story in the two main character’s P.O.V.’s(point of views) which are Blake Daniels and Layla Moorehead.

Readers will get the chance to learn more about Layla Moorehead’s past and the questionable night that her daughter Axelle was conceived. Layla used to be confident and comfortable in the individual she was in high school but one night changed so much about that. She had a long time crush on a bad boy named Trip Miller but on the night she was going to finally go talk to him she got distracted by Stewart. Now fast forward to the present day in the story, Layla is in love, engaged and pregnant. She has Blake Daniels who is loving and protective of his fiance who is pregnant with their first child together and his new teenaged daughter Axelle who he adores. When strange, anonymous phone calls begin, she feels that secrets of the past may try to threaten the happiness she has just started to enjoy.

Blake “The Snake” Daniels has been trying to get back to training and getting things back in order after everything that went down with his fiance’s ex Stewart who put him in jail for a bit. Blake considers his new family with Layla, the baby and Axelle his priority. When a family member shows up one day with a request that seems strange, Blake worries that there may be a catch to it. He’s left trying to decide how to handle facing his past head on or leave it alone. On top of that he’s been keeping a little issue from Layla that he’s discovered recently. Someone has been digging into Layla and Axelle’s information and he will do whatever it takes to keep the most important women in his life safe.

This story was full of answers about both Layla and Blake’s pasts as well as conclusions to issues that have effected them both greatly. Will Layla find out who is calling and texting her before things get out of hand? What will Blake do in order to protect those he loves most? What will surface from the past and will it change their lives completely? A Father’s Fight was an amazing read, with captivating characters and a storyline that will grasp you till the very end. Anyone who’s read about Layla and Blake in Book #2 of this series knows they both deserve a HEA! All I can say is I LOVED what happens at this point in their story! This is a must read. I highly recommend it. Check this one out as soon as it’s out readers! 🙂

It all began with “The Strangers” movie by Bryan Bertino in 2008 becoming an instant horror movie fan favorite. Who can forget that creepy brief conversation between victim and the masked killer. They had us from…

“Why are you doing this to us?”
“Because you were home.”

Many fans of the first film have been waiting and anticipating a sequel to this film because it was such a horrifying and creepy movie made within the last decade. It wasn’t filled with monsters, vampires or any of those kind of scary things. No, what made it memorably eerie was how the situation and the gripping fear in the film actually seemed real. The first film was directed by Bertino who has said that it was inspired in part by the true crime book “Helter Skelter”, which recounts the stories of the gruesome killings by Charles Manson and his murderous followers.

The Strangers 2 is here! It is officially coming out in March 2018! Watch the latest teaser trailer for the sequel below. Are you ready for the strangers, again?

BELOW IS THE PREVIOUS NEWS, PRIOR TO THE PRODUCTION OF “THE STRANGERS 2”:

Relativity Studios is moving ahead with the film and has a new screenwriter and director. Ben Katai has written the script for the sequel and Marcel Langenegger has signed-on to the project as director. There is no word on how the film’s sequel will begin or if it will pick up where the first film left off. There is also question of whether or not Liv Tyler’s character from the first film survived or if she will reprise her role.

After you read The Plot for “THE STRANGERS 2” below, some may wonder if the tragic and horrific real life story of “The Keddie Murders” had any influence on these films. You decide for yourself.

I will continue to bring any updates about “THE STRANGERS 2” film and hope that this project continues to move forward with no more delays.

When the family arrives to the park, they discover that the aunt and uncle who run the place have been murdered by Pin-Up Girl, Dollface and Man in the Mask. The family must survive the night while the three masked maniac killers try to make them their next victims.

My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading ‘SURRENDER’:

This is the first novel by Author Violetta Rand I’ve been given a chance to read and review and it is the first novel of her latest book series titled Devils Den Series. I was very entertained by the storyline and enjoyed getting to know the characters of this series. This is definitely leaving me excited to see where this series is headed. “Surrender” is book one of this series and is written in the two P.O.V.’s(point of views) of Robyn Gonzalez and Garrick Dempsey.

We meet independent, twenty-year-old Robyn Gonzalez who has been on her own since she was about fifteen. She is a very beautiful girl with dark long hair and a strong will to survive on her own. She had no choice once her mother kicked her out of their family home because of Robyn’s strong will to not follow her mother’s overbearing, super strict rules. She now works as a stripper in a place called Devils Den and is one of the favorites at the club. She does what she has to in order to pay her rent and continue her college career that she has been paying all on her own. One night, while enjoying her favorite get-away spot, she witnessed something that may have put her in danger. As she tries to get away from the situation, she is saved by a very handsome stranger.

The very handsome stranger is Garrick Dempsey who was out for a weekend of fishing. Garrick is a tall, well-built, attractive man who is still single but shares a home with his sister. He’s been dealing with his own family ordeal but his wasn’t similar to what Robyn’s situation was. Garrick rescues her and instantly feels an attraction to Robyn. To Robyn’s surprise, Garrick has been hired as a new bouncer at the Devils Den. He returned to his hometown in Corpus Christi, leaving behind his career as a mechanical engineer to be closer to his sister. Family means a lot to Garrick. Now that Robyn and Garrick feel this undeniable attraction, Robyn can only push away from the situation for so long. Garrick is determined to win her trust and find out what has made Robyn incapable of trust or giving him a chance because he wants her to be his.

“Surrender” is an entertaining read because it has romance, steamy chemistry between the main characters and there is a little entertaining dose of suspense in the mix as well. Will Garrick ever earn Robyn’s trust and heart? Can Robyn open up about her past in order to give love a chance? Who is out to get Robyn? I recommend this book to readers because the romance is enjoyable, each hot moment is intense and the storyline keeps an engaging, steady pace. Check this one out next chance you get!

Robyn’s thoughts: This wasn’t a career choice, just an unfortunate detour I took three years ago, as soon as I turned eighteen. That neon red sign out front in the parking lot had the same effect on me as a lighthouse does on a ship tossing in a watery void. It was a lifeline.

Robyn’s thoughts: I’ll spend the rest of my life trying to get back there- to a place where I’m comfortable and safe. Until then, I maintain a low profile. I don’t keep in touch with my former classmates and I certainly don’t use social media. I won’t until I make things right.

Garrick’s thoughts and he talks with Robyn: She’s smart. Sexy. Beautiful. Damn.
“I’m glad you found me,” she says.
She throws me one of those irresistable wide-eyed looks again. The I’m helpless one that draws a man in… Who’s really vulnerable here? I take her hand and give it a friendly squeeze. “You’re safe now.”

Garrick’s thoughts: Men swarm the stage and I don’t know if I like it. I don’t have a delicate ego. And there’s no shortage of women for me. But I don’t like games, and I don’t share. Once I decide to go after what I like, I’m all in.

Evelyn’s thoughts: There’s more to this. I feel it. Sometimes I have to remind myself that not everyone is out to take advantage of me. It’s hard to trust people in this business.

Garrick’s thoughts: The Texas boy in me wants to throw her over my shoulder. In the time I’ve known her, this girl has demonstrated nothing but strength. If she needs space, I’m man enough to give it to her. But, I’m not the kind of man to let her face these problems alone.

Garrick’s thoughts and he talks with Robyn: Her gaze is fixed on mine. I can’t hide the depth of my feelings any longer. My gut aches. Her eyes are luminous in the near darkness. Everything feels right. She’s right- perfect for me.

My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading ‘SINCE YOU’VE BEEN GONE’:

This is my review of “Since You’ve Been Gone” by Mary Jennifer Payne. The story follows a young fifteen-year-old girl from Canada who is on the run with her mother. They have been running for about five years from her father who was abusive towards her mother and the last straw was when it finally was directed toward Edie. The story is written in the main character’s P.O.V.(point of view), Edie Fraser.

Being on the run from her own father has left her feeling scared and worried. Her mother is all she has and they are both careful about not leaving a trail that can be followed. Edie is starting at yet another new school, this time in an entirely new country. There are the usual loner kids, bullies and friendly people as there are anywhere else. Edie’s mother, Sydney lets Edie know that she will be starting a new cleaning job in London. Everything is looking up for them in this new place.

But as soon as everything seems to shine a little glimmer of positive possibilities, the worst thing that could happen, does. Sydney doesn’t return home after her first night at her night-time cleaning job. Edie tries her best to not think the worst has happened and that maybe her mother simply got lost in a new place. When Edie begins to feel lost and alone, she finds herself confiding in and making a potential ally in a classmate who the school thinks the worst of. The rumors are that he is a killer.

Can Edie actually trust the classmate that she has began to open up to? Will Edie find her mother or has the worst happened? Is her father involved in her mother’s disappearance or is there a new threat? The story had a nice but mild suspenseful storyline but something about it just kept it falling short of being enthralling. The mystery behind the mother’s disappearance was captured well but it seemed like there were many characters and plot points that ended up feeling unnecessary. I enjoyed it enough to read it all the way through, the ending was entertaining and it wasn’t a bad plot at all. It was an okay story but it just fell short because of too much extras that weren’t relevant to the story. Check it out and make your own assessment on it.

And we can’t just leave a message; we need to speak to the other person. That way we can be sure we’re both safe.

Edie’s thoughts: The frustrating thing is that each time my life changes, I leave little pieces of myself behind. Sometimes it’s a photograph or a gift I really liked or even just a project I did at school that I was really proud of. More often, it’s a best friend, a supportive teacher, or a boy I’m crushing on. I was ten years old when we began running, and I’ve been leaving pieces of myself, of my heart, in different apartments, cities, and school ever since. This time it’s much worse.

Edie and her mother Sydney: My mother smiles at me. “I just want to let you know that I love you more than anything in this world.”
“You needed to pull me out of the shower and make me late for school just to tell me that?”

Edie’s thoughts: Suddenly I realize how tired I am of running. And that’s when I decide there’s no way I’ll be scared into running again. I’m older now. This time I’m ready to fight.

Edie’s thoughts: I’m so tired of saying goodbye to all the people and things I care about in my life.

My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading ‘WORTH THE RISK’:

The second book of The McKinney Brothers Series was captivating and such an emotional story. Those handsome, tough, yet loveable men in the McKinney clan continue to steal hearts and fill the list of dream-book-boyfriends. I just finished reading a copy of Worth The Risk and the story follows the McKinney brother Stephen. This one was a bit darker and deeper than the first but, just like the first of this series, it did not disappoint either. The story is written in the two P.O.V.’s(point of views) from Stephen McKinney and Hannah Walker.

We fell in love with the sexy and sweet McKinney brother Matt in Worth The Fall but in this second installment of the series we get to know his brother, the Millionaire-playboy Stephen McKinney. Stephen is highly successful as the owner and skilled businessman behind Trace Development. Money, Power and admiration from women and men have been a part of the lifestyle he lives. But his life wasn’t always about the business even though nowadays it is what helps him to keep his mind busy so it doesn’t go back to a darker time. Not many people know much about what truly drove him to become successful. He directed all of his attention and drive into his business so he wouldn’t get lost in his dark thoughts of vengeance. He was once engaged but after a brutal and life changing ordeal in the past, he is alone and still haunted by the memory of that difficult day.

Hannah Walker has been protected all of her life since she is the only girl out of 5 siblings. Her four brothers helped to raised her after her parents met with tragedy. When she was a teenager, thinking she knew everything and never realized how naive she really was, Hannah’s life was changed. Her life almost ended after a long and torturous ordeal by the hands of a maniac that she thought she could trust. After she was rescued, her life was completely different, her body was changed in many ways, her mind and heart were scarred to the point that she never thought she’d trust again. Her four brothers continued to raise and keep her under their wing, especially her sometimes overly-protective and strong-minded brother Nick. The protectiveness they once held for their sister now also included sheltering her. She never had a problem with it after her terrifying ordeal because it was the only way she felt she could keep on surviving from day to day.

From the moment when Stephen and Hannah first meet, there is an instant connection that seems hard to ignore. Stephen seemed so determined to pursue her while Hannah had her reasons to keep him at a distance. I really loved and enjoyed how the character’s imperfections just made them seem so relateable and realistic. This made each character easy to like and enjoy in the process. The storyline was different than the first novel of the series because it held a slightly-darker tone but definitely amazing in its own way. Reading the heartbreaking moments that changed both Stephen and Hannah’s lives in their pasts just made this story so enthralling to see them both grow so much as the story progressed. This was a wonderful read and I highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys a story of love, heartbreak and the pursuit of happiness in the way of finding love and growing from tragedy. Check this great story out when it is out! 🙂

Stephen’s thoughts: Stephen McKinney watched her go, enjoying the way she moved in tan riding breeches that hugged her legs before they disappeared into tall, brown leather boots. He smiled, enjoying it a little longer. Golden-blond hair hung in a long, loose braid nearly to her waist. He had a flash of it tangled in his fingers, spread across silk sheets. Beautiful. And gone.

Hannah’s thoughts: She loved her four brothers, and she wouldn’t say they suffocated her, though the hum of their hovering could be deafening at times. FBI, Special Forces, firefighter, cop. It was like her very own big-brother protection force.

Stephen’s thoughts: Being wrong meant you lost, something he hated even more. He liked easy; she was anything but. Though staring into Hannah’s eyes over candlelight, he forgot what he liked. Forgot damn near everything.

Stephen’s thought: He’d spent the first two years in a bottle and he’d still felt lost. The next two years screwing a multitude of women. And he’d still been alone. Then he’d turned to work, where he managed, commanded. It had brought him wealth and power, but it hadn’t brought her back.

Stephen’s thoughts: He hadn’t kissed her, hadn’t made her smile again the way he’d wanted to that first day. So beautiful. He could picture her in a castle tower like something out of a fairy tale. And in that same story he’d be the villian.

Stephen and Edie: The kiss was hot and hard and when he lifted his head, he found he eyes were still closed.
“So damn sweet.” Which only made him want her more.
She blinked up at him, eyes dazed, looking every bit a girl who’d been thoroughly kissed. “It’s hard to breathe around you.”
“Is that a good thing?”
“I don’t know.”
She smiled up at him and he was nearly knocked off his feet. This quiet, unassuming girl was going to kill him.

Hannah’s thoughts: His heartbeat strong against her ear while his hand made a lazy run up and down her back. It was perfect and she drifted, knowing she’d been sheltered her entire life but never felt entirely safe. Until now.

My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading ‘TWICE IN A BLUE MOON’:

I just finished reading a copy of “Twice In A Blue Moon” by Cate Masters. The setting and description of the scenery mentioned within the story make you feel like you are there, seeing everything from the beautiful snow covered ground to the mesmerizing glow of the Northern Lights in the night sky. The story is written in the two main characters P.O.V.’s(point of views) which are Melanie Michaels and Joe “Buck” Wright.

Melanie Michaels was once engaged to a man she loved so much. He loved to live life to the fullest and by doing so, he ended of losing his life. This in turn left Melanie so brokenhearted to the point that she felt like she could still feel him around. She channeled her emotions of that tragic loss and began to do dangerous stunts and take adventurous risks. Something about living on the edge seemed to make her feel that her first love, Pete, was still around her. This eventually got the attention of producers which led to her very on adventure driven television show.

There was a place that Melanie and her late-fiance Pete had always said they’d like to visit. The snow and the beautiful natural surroundings of this location would have been the perfect place for them. Unfortunately, Melanie would have to visit this place alone. The only people to accompany her on this trip would be her three crew show co-host and crew members. She had no idea that the dreams she had about Pete guiding her to this place would lead her to what could very well be where the next part of her life journey was destined to end up.

Joe “Buck” Wright was burned by love once upon a time and he made a promise to himself to never get attached. He left the states to set up a humble life in the Swedish Lapland while working for Arctic Adventures. His closest connections are those he share with his sled dogs. When he gets the news that a T.V. reality star would be booking with them and he’d be their tour guide, he hesitates but takes the job. He had no idea that some things happen when you least expect it no matter how much you resist against it.

The story is a nice, feelgood, and light-hearted read. There isn’t anything overwhelming about this book but it does give you a sweet HEA(Happily Ever After) if you’re looking to read one. How does Melanie feel when she visits the one place that she planned to visit with her late-fiance Pete alone? Can Buck ever be open to giving love a chance again? Good things come around once in a blue moon but even fate can sometimes make things happen twice in a blue moon, too. Check this out if you want a nice, romantic book.

Melanie’s thoughts: She’d made it. After traveling everywhere on the map for three years with hardly a break, she’d finally come to Sweden. Everything about this place felt right. Except that Pete’s not here.

Pete and Melanie: “You have to go on.”
“Not without you.”
Listen to me. You’ll find another guy.”
“Don’t say that.”
“Another Mr. Right. You might think he’s an ordinary Joe at first-”
“Stop. You’re my Once In A Blue Moon guy. No one else.”
“Someone else is out there for you.”

Melanie’s thoughts: Tonight taught her two things. One, Pete was irretrievably and permanently gone. Two, she needed to move on, in ways she hadn’t even realized until now.

Joe “Buck’s” thoughts: He wanted to stay far off their radar. Out of Melanie’s line of sight, too. Other than one initial startled look that pierced his gut, she actively avoided him. All for the best. He intended to do the same, possibly more out of fear than anything.

Joe “Buck’s” thoughts: Surprise, surprise. Beneath the tough exterior, Melanie Michaels hid a fragile heart, just like him. How incredible was that? How rare? He hadn’t experienced anything like it, not in a way that felt so real. So freaking true.

My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading ‘GONE TOO FAR’:

Gone Too Far by Natalie D. Richards is a thriller, young adult novel with a great dose of mystery and suspense. As with any YA novel I read and review, I’m not within the target audience but I can still appreciate an entertaining story when I come across one. The story is completely written in the main character’s P.O.V.(point of view) named Piper Woods.

Piper Woods is a brown haired, average-seventeen year old in high school who loves photography and has a passion for it. She isn’t the most popular but has a decent life and plenty of friends. After running late to class on morning she finds a forgotten notebook on the steps leading to the school’s entrance. Piper doesn’t think much of it until she digs deeper into it, discovering strange photos of fellow classmates and codes with secrets that could possibly hurt those that are simply listed by code names only.

The story begins to follow down a road of twists-and-turns and turns when a very popular and beautiful classmate ends up dead. To add to the pot of deception and secrets, Piper begins receiving mysterious text messages from someone who seems to know so much about her and her classmates. The mysterious “Texter” begin using her confused emotions about the classmates death to go down a path of thriller-suspense and revenge on those who are deemed “popular”.

Piper doesn’t know who to trust or who may actually be the “Texter” behind the events that take place after each time she mentions a name of a classmate. Could it be one of the smart kids’ wanting payback, a jock looking to get his kicks, a bitter mean girl playing games, or someone else behind it all? Will Piper become a victim or join in on the vengeance? Who can she really trust? This story is an entertainingly good book with quite a few fast paced moments that leave you trying to solve the mystery of who is the “Texter” all the way until the very end. I recommend this for readers who enjoy a semi-dark mystery with a tinge of romance intertwined. Check this out if this seems right up your alley! And yes, YA is not just for teenagers to enjoy. 🙂

Piper’s thoughts: I close the notebook, pressing cold, damp hands into the cover. Time to get a grip. I’m not the girl who covers my eyes during scary movies. I’m the one who tells everyone where the special effects suck. The pictures are creepy, but I can name a handful of kids in this school that I’m pretty sure are future felons.

Piper’s thoughts: Goose bumps rise on my arms. The book. Whoever’s texting me must have seen me with it. I flipped through it in homeroom and in the parking lot, so anyone could have seen. But it wasn’t just anyone. It was someone who knew what was inside that book. Someone who’d read it. Maybe even the person who wrote it.

Piper’s thoughts: I bit my tongue until I tasted blood, silently swearing to never so much as look at their kind again. In the here and now, Jackson and Nick hit the corner of the hallway. Nick looks back then, his green eyes begging me to break every vow I made that day. He’s one of them. But it’s hard not to like him just a little when he smiles.

“Texter” and Piper’s thoughts: “We could change things. Make it better.”
Could we? Could we stop people like this? Adrenaline flares through me at the idea. But fear is close on its heels. This could be trouble for me. Big trouble.

Piper’s thoughts: The world I’ve lived in for seventeen years is going to end tonight, and I don’t know what comes after. I turn around, looking back at them. They’re watching me go.
