Never Loved by Charlotte Stein

The Synopsis:

Perfect for fans of Abbi Glines, the first novel in the Dark Obsession series tells the story of a beautiful wallflower who falls for a chiseled street fighter—and learns just how dangerous love can be.

Beatrix Becker spent most of her life under the thumb of her controlling, abusive father. And now that she’s free and attending her dream college, she has no idea how to act like the normal crowd: partying, going on dates, even having a conversation. Then she meets Serge Sorensen. Big and surly with a whole host of riotous tattoos, Serge is supposed to scare the hell out of her. But beneath his harsh exterior, Beatrix discovers a kindred spirit who knows what it’s like to be a misfit. Most exhilarating—and terrifying—is what he does for a living: illegal street fighting.

There’s nothing like the rush Serge gets from the intense athleticism and brutal glory of combat—though his chemistry with Beatrix comes close. Slowly at first, he introduces her to his world, where he lives by instinct, passion, and desire. He even helps her out with her equally traumatized brother. But when Serge gets in too deep with the wrong people, he ends up paying in blood. And suddenly, just as Beatrix has been drawn into Serge’s perfectly sculpted arms, she’s thrown once and for all into the fight of his life.

My ‘Blogging Reader’s ARC-Review’ after reading ‘NEVER LOVED’ (A Dark Obsession Novel Series – book #1):

This is the first novel I’ve read by author Charlotte Stein titled “Never Loved.” This novel is of the new adult and contemporary romance genres with a little suspense intertwined. Never loved is of the new novel series called Dark Obsession Novel Series and definitely had a generous amount of erotic moments as well. This novel is written from the main female character’s P.O.V.(point of view) Beatrix Becker.

Growing up with an aggressively-abusive and controlling father, scarred Beatrix Becker and her brother Tommy. Despite surviving that life, Beatrix became her brothers protector while trying to better her future as a college student while continuing to carry many of the controlled characteristics she learned under her father’s manipulative ways. By taking on the role of protector to her brother Tommy, as soon as they were out of their father’s home, he would constantly find himself in bad situations. Beatrix would always be the one to help him and make sure he was safe. Freedom was a great thing but Tommy got out of control at times with bad habits he picked up with that new-found freedom. When Beatrix goes out in search of her brother once again, she finds herself in dangerous situations at times but this time, she is faced with a different kind of danger: the danger of having an unfamiliar attraction to a man that most see as a scary man but she sees something more.

Serge Sorensen looks like a dangerous and scary man to anyone he comes across. The tattoos, the unique hairstyle, his giant-massive six-foot-something height, and the reputation in the street fighting world tends to confirm that he is not one to be messed with. When this sweet little college girl comes face to face with him, he has no idea the strange connection they feel is just the beginning. Even though Serge feels this urgent need to constantly protect Beatrix or “Bea” as he prefers to refer to her, he wants to protect her from his screwed up self also. So he finds himself pushing her away. His father was a drunk who would take it out on Serge but even though he became rough and tough, there was always deeper layers that not many knew about. No one could see his heart, but could Beatrix be the one to break through his tough exterior?

Will Tommy bring his sister Beatrix down with the bad situations he always finds himself in? What secrets is Serge keeping? Will Beatrix ever come out of her shell? Never Loved is more or less an enjoyable story because of the characters and the flow of most of the storyline. I wish the epilogue continued the story in a thorough way instead of the way it went. I was left assuming of where they were and what had become of them. There were some great spots in the story where you can completely get enraptured by the character interactions between Beatrix and Serge. At times, there were a few moments, and I mean very few, that kind of brought down my enjoyment of this novel. The story is there and had its good layers but some of the wording used to describe characters and some of the situations threw me off. On the plus side: This novels steamy scenes were very enticing and alluring. Those moments alone, made this story worth continuing to see how the story would unfold. All in all, this story was an okay novel. If you are looking for something decent to read next, give this one a chance if this sounds like your kind of novel.

Fighting Series Fighting For Forever -- by J.B. Salsbury

The Synopsis for ‘Fighting For Forever’:

Slut. Hooker. Whore.

The taunts never bothered me. They only see what I allow them to see, and a Las Vegas stripper is the perfect cover.

My life had direction. I had a mission—until the man I needed vanished and is presumed dead.

It’s time to move on—give up the dream for revenge—and no one shows me that more than the mop-headed fighter with eyes the color of the ocean.

If anyone can teach me just how sweet life can be, it’s him. But first, I’d have to let go.

Mase. Baywatch. Mayhem.

I’m known by many names, but there’s only one that stirs panic and worry in my gut every time I’m called it.

I’ve bailed him out of trouble for years, so when he turns up in Vegas and asks for me, I’m prepared for the worst. And the worst is exactly what I get in the form of a lilac-eyed beauty named Trix.

She’s everything I hate about Vegas: a stripper, loose with her body and her morals. But there’s something about her, a complexity that she buries deep, and I’m determined to uncover it.

The deeper I go, the less I understand. When I finally learn the truth, we engage in a battle where life and death hang in the balance.

Fighting could kill us both, but if we win, forever is the prize.

My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading ‘Fighting For Forever’ (Fighting Series – Book #6):

***WARNING: Possible SPOILERS if you haven’t read the previous Novels of the Fighting Series.***

This is my review for the 6th installment of the Fighting Series titled “Fighting For Forever” by author J. B. Salsbury.  This entire series has been a mix of enthralling, enticing, captivating and gritty. After reading the most recent novel of this series, I have to admit, this series is one of my absolute favorites! None of these books have left me feeling like it fell short or was missing anything as far as the storyline and characters go. This one is written in the two main character’s P.O.V.’s(point of views) from Beatriks “Trix” and Mason “Mase”.

Beatriks “Trix” Langley has been living a wild and dangerous life. She has had a list of lovers who meant nothing more than a fun night. She takes her clothes off for a living and lives this exciting and sexy life in Las Vegas that probably makes her seem like a party girl but she’s there for a reason. Beneath the make-up, partying, no-strings-attached kind-of relationships, and her sexy job, she’s driven by vengeance. Her older sister Lana was murdered and now Trix has made it a mission to do everything she has to do to find out who is responsible. By doing so, she’s had to live a life that differs from what she would’ve expected when Lana was alive. When she meets UFL fighter Mason, she automatically dislikes this grouchy, sexy, guy who she has a bad first encounter with. But sometimes a first encounter can be overrated.

Mason “Mase” is known by the nickname “Baywatch” because of his handsome sunkissed-surfer-boy good looks among his fellow UFL fighters. His usual upbeat, kicked-back persona is the side of him that most people see but there is definitely more to him. He comes from a background that wasn’t always sunshine and mellow-waves and an old crew he used to run with can prove that. His brother Drake, who has a dangerous father named Elijah, has pulled Drake into a dark and twisted life that Mason has tried to get his brother away from. Mason’s relationship with his brother Drake has been rocky, especially after a betrayal that hurt Mason long ago. When Mason meets Trix he can’t help but think she’s mean as hell but something about her draws him in and threatens to hold on tight to him. Once the past comes around again, Mason must try and save himself, his brother and the little vixen named Trix that has somehow tangled herself into his life and the problems looming.

Will Trix finally get the answers to the questions that have haunted her about the brutal murder of her sister Lana? Can Mason help Trix or will she pull away from him completely? Who will survive and who won’t? In this sexy, dark, twisted and captivating story about revenge, justice and finding out the truth, you’ll find yourself completely pulled into Beatriks and Mason’s story. I highly recommend this novel and this series because the story is well-written and even though it can be gritty, it twists and turns in such a gripping way. Definitely worth reading! Pick up your copy A.S.A.P. You won’t regret these interesting and intense novels in this explosive series! 😉

Teaser 2 Teaser 3 Teaser 4

Beatrik’s thoughts:  We’d always said we were meant to be twins. I can’t even glance in the mirror without seeing her, and now I’ll never see her again. This will be the last time before her body is committed to the ground and… A sob rips from my throat.
“We’ve been inseparable. How will I live without you now?” Slowly, I lower my hand to her chest as tears stream down my cheeks to drip off my jaw.
“Moya sestra. Moye serdtse.”

Beatrik’s thoughts:  A war wages within my soul, the struggle between what is right, what is holy and honorable, and what is wrong but brings relief.  REVENGE. VINDICATION. Whoever did this to her needs to pay a penalty that the law can’t deliver. He deserves to take every slice just as she did. I will ensure that happens. For Lana, I will become the monster. Even if it costs me my very soul.

Trix’s thoughts: I’m like clay, molding to his will, helpless in a way I can’t explain, but the power of his body and the sense that he’s hanging onto the last string of his control are a heady combination.

Trix and Mason:  Her lips part, breath catches. “Mason…”
That voice… This time it’s heavy with something that makes my blood pound in my veins. “You’re gonna break me.” I tilt my head and crash my lips to hers. She opens to me without hesitation, welcoming the intrusion of my tongue into her hot, slick mouth.

Mason’s thoughts:  But this is her. What she does and how she gets through life. She’s a master of seduction, and fuck is she mastering me now.

Mason’s thoughts:  Her eyes communicate a pain that she hasn’t given a voice to. God, I wish she would. Is she hurting as much as I am? A war wages within, the fight to run from the pain, but the draw that demands I soothe her. My fingers itch to touch her and before I can contemplate the consequences, they move.
“Why are you crying?” A sob rips from her throat. “Stop holding back from me.”

Beatrik “Trix” and Mason “Mase”:  “No more looking back. It’s only forward for us. Forward and forever.”
I grip his face, forcing him to look at me. “Promise me we’re never saying good-bye.”
“I promise.”
“Say it.” I need to hear it.
“I’ll never say good-bye.”
“And neither will I. Never. No good-byes. Forward and forever.”

The Girl I Was Before by Ginger Scott 3

The Synopsis:

I’m the selfish one. I suppose that’s the nicest thing people say about me. I’ve heard the other things, too. “Paige Owens is a pretty girl with nothing else to offer. She’s just a good time at a party. She’s stupid, heartless, cold and useless. All she cares about is getting a guy to look at her. Why would anyone want to be her friend?”

Some of those things are true. Others were true. They’re all hurtful.

None of it matters.

I’m ready to make the hard choices. I’m ready to face the consequences. I’m ready to be the girl I was before, and I’m done being the one who lost her way.

I’m ready to become the girl Houston Orr sees when he looks at me.

Houston isn’t a star athlete. He doesn’t play in a band. He’s never going to be president, and his life is so far away from simple and easy it isn’t even funny.
He wasn’t part of my plan. But I’m starting to think plans are overrated, and maybe our stories are what we make them. And mine depends entirely on me, and the choices I make…starting now.

Houston is my fairytale. He’s perfectly imperfect. He’s poetry and life. He’s truth and heartbreak, all rolled up in a tall body with dark hair, broad shoulders and green eyes that lull me into submission. He’s nothing I ever thought I wanted, but the very thing I need. He’s the only guy I’ve ever really loved, and he thinks I’m a princess. I fell into him, and now I’m holding on.

But sometimes life takes away our ability to choose. Sometimes…things aren’t in your control. Sometimes, it hurts to be selfless. My only hope is that when it comes time to choose, I get it right.

Welcome to my once upon a time and wish for happily ever after.

My ‘Blogging Reader’s ARC-Review’ after reading ‘THE GIRL I WAS BEFORE’ (Falling Series – book #3):

***WARNING: Possible SPOILERS if you haven’t read the previous Novels of the Falling Series.***

“The Girl I Was Before” is the third installment of the Falling Series by the wonderful author Ginger Scott. As a huge fan of her novels, I tend to always expect amazing stories with feelgood, romantic stories. With her latest novel, I was not disappointed and enjoyed each moment of the story as it follows Paige and Houston. This novel is of the new adult and contemporary romance genres. This novel is written from the two main character’s P.O.V.’s(point of views), Houston Orr and Paige Owens.

Paige Owens is nothing like her twin-sister Cass. She moved to attend college with her sister in Oklahoma from California. It wasn’t her first choice but even so, she planned on making the best of it. Paige has everything she could want: she’s a part of a popular sorority, the rich and popular president of the sorority is her new close friend, she’s dating a hot football-jock named Carson, and she’s always invited to the cool parties. She got it all at an expensive price: the trust of her twin-sister Cass. Most people seem to think they know her because of what she usually shows them. She comes across as a shallow, dumb, stuck-up, party-girl and someone who doesn’t care much for others. With her relationship strained with her sister Cass, she only has her sorority sisters to lean on but they might not be worth the all the she’s given up. As secrets are spilled, priorities change, will things ever be good between Paige and her sister Cass? And how will things change when she finally meets the guy at the deli?

Houston Orr’s life is constantly on the go. If he’s not busy with school and studying, he’s working and helping to take care of things at home. His life changed drastically when he was a teenager that caused him to grow up a little faster. When tragedy struck his life and those he cares most about, he had to carry much more on his shoulders. But being the kind of person that Houston is, he takes on the responsibilities and works hard in the process. He’s noticed the beautiful girl every time she’s come into his workplace and ordered food from him but she’s never paid him any mind. When he spots her with a guy who doesn’t seem deserving, he lets her know that she can do better. Something about this girl makes him want to get to know her but will she always be out of reach? She’s feisty and a little rude but he can’t help but think that there is more under her pretty coat of typical partying college girl. Even if she were to give him the time of day, he couldn’t do anything about it. He has his own secrets that would probably scare her away anyway.

The Girl I Was Before was a beautiful and touching story with some emotional highs. Seeing how the tough girl Paige grows throughout the story just makes you see that maybe there are more reasons behind her mean exterior. Houston is such an amazing male character and reading about him and their story together was adorably-captivating. Seeing their layers peeled away and their imperfections and secrets one by one becoming exposed, just made them seem so real and made the storyline very satisfying. I give this novel and this series my stamp of approval and recommendation for readers who enjoy reading charming and pleasurable romance stories with likeable characters.  Check this one out when you’re looking for something good to read next. 🙂

How I imagined the characters while reading ‘THE GIRL I WAS BEFORE’:

1 collage 2

Paige’s thoughts:  And I’m probably evil for thinking that, but I’ve been evil before. I’ve been selfish, heartless, calculated—cold. I’m starting to think the problem is that it’s taken me this long to find the line between the good side and the bad, and right now, I’m straddling.
With one press of my finger on my phone, I can send Chandra to the ground. I’m holding her power hostage, afraid of the responsibility that comes along with gambling with it. No, that’s not the truth. I’m not afraid of the responsibility at all. What scare me are the consequences.

Paige’s thoughts:  Chandra—she holds the power. My new life, it only exists because of her. I know I’m a bitch for thinking of myself, but this existence—the parties, the boyfriend, the popularity and status—it’s all I’ve ever wanted. It sounds shallow, but is it really so different from wanting to be the lead in a play or the star athlete? I wanted to be looked up to, admired and envied, and Chandra was my ticket.

Paige and Houston:  I can feel the force of his eyes on me as I turn to leave; my heart is kicking the insides of my chest in anticipation of his voice. I almost make it outside when I feel his hand on my shoulder. I spin around, ready to lay into him—my fire flickering.
“You can do better,” he says before I can open my lips to speak. His gaze is direct, and it halts me, if only for this moment. “That’s all I want to say. I just thought you should know. You. Can do. Better.”
His face is serious. There’s a part of me that wonders if he’s flirting. But it doesn’t feel like a pick-up line. Houston—his being here today, his words—this feels more like a rescue.

Paige and Houston:  The distance between us is mere steps, but neither of us is willing to take one. Now is not the time—with worlds waiting for each of us in opposite directions.
“I…” he starts as he turns to look at me again, his voice catching when he sees I’ve already begun to leave. “I’m sorry. I have to go inside.” For a moment, there’s a smile on his face. For a moment, there’s peace. It leaves just as quickly as it comes, the light gone again from his eyes.
“I understand,” I say.
Holding a hand up, I back away, then turn so I can’t see him close the door again. I can’t watch that—not again. Especially not this time.

Houston’s thoughts:  I walk away, and I’m taken back to my life more than five years ago, when I was just some cocky football jock who refused to let the pretty girl say no. I never thought anyone else would be worth all of that rejection, over and over, but this one…she’s worth walking through fire.
And I know she might make me.

Phoenix Rising Rock Band Series - 1 INCENDIARY by Kathryn Kelly

The Synopsis:

Georgie has destroyed me. She’s threatened my freedom and everything I’ve worked so hard to build. My band, my music, is the last thing on my mind. I want her to pay for all she’s done.

But she’s still my Georgie, and my desire for her is as hot as ever. She’s my inferno, my biggest mistake and my greatest reward.

My fans see her as their idol’s downfall. When her life is threatened, I will come to realize there’s nothing in the world more important to me than her.

She’s my flame.

I’m her anchor.

Together, we’re explosive.

We are incendiary.

For mature audiences only. Incendiary is not a standalone novel, but is the conclusion to Georgiana McCall’s and Sloane Mason’s story that began in Inferno.

My ‘Blogging Reader’s ARC-Review’ after reading ‘INCENDIARY’:

***WARNING: Possible SPOILERS if you haven’t read the previous novel in the Phoenix Rising Rock Band Series.***

There is just something about their forbidden, twisted, yet steamy relationship that keeps my attention completely. In the second novel of the Phoenix Rising Rock Band Series, we continue to follow the tumultuous lives that surround sexy-rock-star Sloane Mason and his forbidden temptation, the beautiful, naive and sassy Georgiana. You’re never left feeling only one emotion when you read a novel by Author Kathryn Kelly. You’ll go through the roller-coaster of feelings in this story stemming from dark romance, a little anger toward a character or two, some sad feelings and a need for vengeance. In “Incendiary” you get to read the story in three character P.O.V.’s(point of views) from Sloane Mason, Georgiana McCall, and Cassandra McCall.

So much went on in the first book titled “Inferno” to these characters, especially the two main characters: Sloane Mason and Georgiana “Georgie” McCall. When the story gives us a glimpse into Sloane’s past and the events that took place on the day his sister Steffie died, we see how much that affected his life and everyone’s life around him. Sloane is the lead singer and occasional guitarist of the Phoenix Rising Rock Band which brings along the lifestyle of easy lovers, lots of travel and a bad-boy reputation. When he met the much younger(then) sixteen year old Georgie, he found that there was something about her. It’s as if they have a strong connection regardless of their age difference. Now that things have played out and there’s no turning back from the results of their desires and needs, will he be able to gain control of an entirely out-of-control situation?

Georgiana “Georgie” McCall is pregnant and her overly controlling grandmother is the only one calling the shots it seems. Georgie can’t depend on her weak father Parnell, her mentally-unstable and strangely-jealous mother Cassandra, or even the father of the baby she is about to have. Everything around her seems to be unstable but the only one that brings her any peace-of-mind is her baby girl Bryn. When she comes across Sloane again, can she handle the anger and hate he has toward her? Is she really trying to bring his career down or is there more to the rumors? With the problems boiling between Sloane and Georgie, what else can go wrong? Unfortunately for the, a lot!

Incendiary and Inferno take you on such a twisted, illicit, dark and emotional journey of the privileged and the secrets they keep. We know the story of the evil step-mother well but this one takes a darker step further with an actual biological mother who loathes, envies, and dislikes her own daughter, hence the dangerous relationship between mother Cassandra and her daughter Georgiana. This storyline continues to take readers on that twisted tailspin that involves the intriguing array of characters that you’ll either like, love or hate. I have to say, what captivates me about this series is that it isn’t a “Happily ever after” type of love story from the get-go but more of a “struggling to fight for our imperfect love” kind of love story. Temptations await at every turn and people determined to wedge Sloane and Georgie apart. They have both been broken by heartbreak and horrible situations in their lives but somehow they continue to try to hold onto that one special thing that continuously draws them back to each other: Love, baby!

Are they ready to give up the tempting, intoxicating-decadence that lurks around every corner in exchange for each other? Someone is out to harm Georgie, but who could it be: an obsessed fan, her own mother, or someone else? Has Sloane finally decided to change his womanizer-bad-boy ways or will he give into the temptation that is a part of the sexy rock star lifestyle? A cross-over bonus alert: If you are familiar with Author Kathryn Kelly’s other series Death Dwellers MC Series, then you’ll be excited to know that many of the dangerously-sexy biker characters and their awesome old ladies make huge cameos in this novel “Incendiary.” I absolutely recommend this novel and this series to those looking for something hot, raw and completely twisted -to read. This is definitely one those “For mature readers only” type of novels, so keep that in mind. Check this one out for sure! 😉

How I imagined the characters while reading ‘INCENDIARY’:

2 collage 1

Georgiana’s thoughts:  …Now we’ll always share a connection because of the baby. Right now, she’s inside of me, but I don’t think feelings will change much toward him when she’s in my arms. They may even grow stronger. Because of Sloane, I’ll never be alone again. I’ll have my little girl.

Georgiana and Crowell:  Crowell is as cocky and arrogant as Josh and Cash, so he wouldn’t readily confess to fright unless there’s a valid reason. My brothers were furious about Crowell’s physical relationship with me, but the extent of their anger escaped me.
“Oh my God, I’m so sorry. I knew they were angry. I’ll talk to them-”
“NO! No. Are you fucking crazy? I’ve spent enough time in ICU.”
“I thought they only threatened you.”
“They did. Your baby daddy nearly beat me to death,” he grumbles.
I’m so shocked I almost blurt out Sloane’s name, but I rein in my surprise and shout, “What?” instead.

Sloane’s thoughts:  My father’s doing again. I owe him and we both know it. With all the crimes I’m accused of, and the severity, I would’ve been in jail until my preliminary hearing at the very least. Wallowing in my self-righteous, self-pity, I made a deal with the devil. Everyone believes the head honcho of hell is named Lucifer. Satan’s real alias is Rand Mason.
Does that make me his demon spawn?

Sloane’s thoughts: “Do what the fuck you will, Dad. I’m done,” I repeat, unable to see any other face in my head but Georgie’s, unable to feel anything but grief. The day my father changed my entire world, I lost myself in that water and the essence of me died. For a moment, I had Georgie and found my soul again.

Georgie and her mother Cassandra:  Of course, Crowell is the one I supposedly threw her in the room over. She’s naive enough to believe that, so she thinks she’s hurting me. Still, I can’t allow her insolence to pass. I jump to my feet. “You’re an ungrateful bitch.”
Sloane slackens his hold on Georgie, so she stands. “And you’re a poor excuse for a mother. Where in the universe did I fuck up to be given to you?”
“You’ll be sorry,” I swear to her. “I’m the mother. Not one person will look favorably on your attitude to me, simply because I gave you life.”

Sloane’s thoughts:  I have been the man in the eyes of millions. Now, I only want to be a man for one. Georgie.

Sloane’s lyrics:  🎤 “Your love made me heal. Your love made me feel. Your beauty consumed me. Your touch was my torch. That turned into an inferno. Inferno. Inferno. Inferno.”🎼 🎸

Georgiana’s thoughts:  I want him, and he wants me. Fucking each other is inevitable. This is where everything is right between us. I can freely express the passion and love I have for him…

Falling Fast by Tina Wainscott

The Synopsis:

Fans of Jasinda Wilder and Colleen Hoover will adore this emotional new small-town romance—a smoldering tale of first love and long-awaited redemption from USA Today bestselling author Tina Wainscott.

Raleigh West works in an auto shop day and night, trying to put his broken past out of mind. It’s been seven years since the fiery crash that landed his teenage sweetheart in the hospital . . . and him in jail. In an instant, he lost everything: his passion for racing, his hope of escaping his father’s shameful legacy, and the only girl he ever loved. Raleigh hasn’t seen her since that awful night. Never got a chance to apologize. And never forgave himself, either.

When brave, beautiful Mia Wentworth returns to the Florida coast for the first time in what seems like forever, it’s not to see Raleigh. Even so, the moment she arrives she can feel his presence like a gust of wind that gives her goose bumps. Opening her heart to him again seems impossible. But staying away? That might be harder still. Lucky for them both, Mia’s never been the kind of woman to take the easy way out.

My ‘Blogging Reader’s ARC-Review’ after reading ‘FALLING FAST’ (Falling Fast Series – book #1):

I was given the opportunity to read and review the first novel of the Falling Fast Series titled “Falling Fast” by author Tina Wainscott. I previously read another novel by this author and was looking forward to seeing if this one would be enjoyable as well. I will say -it delivered and was a gripping story about survival, growing as a person and finding happiness regardless of any obstacles. Falling Fast is of the New Adult and contemporary romance genres. This novel is written from the two main character’s P.O.V.’s(point of views), Mia Wentworth and Raleigh West.

From the outside, Mia Wentworth could be seen as a loner and a precious rich girl but that would be an outsiders perspective about her. She’s also lived her young life feeling often over-protected by her parents because of something she has no control over. This something has threatened to make her want to give up sometimes because she can’t completely live like most people her age. At seventeen years old, she’s been living with cancer for practically half of her life. When her parents decide to visit her grandmother in the small town of Chambliss, Mia has no expectations of the vacation except to have a nice visit with her fun and feisty grandma Nancy. When Mia is given a tiny piece of freedom to drive into town alone, she happens to meet a very attractive local named Raleigh at the garage working under a car. That summer would become a memorable and unforgettable time, in both good and bad ways, for both Mia and Raleigh.

Raleigh West has had a tough and difficult life but regardless, he’s pushed through the troubles and has focused on his favorite hobby -working on cars. With a father who is known as the town’s drunk and loser, Raleigh has found it hard to keep from having his dad’s reputation become the way they perceive Raleigh sometimes. When he meets the new and intriguing girl Mia at the garage he works at, he can’t help but instantly want to get to know her better. It’s just something about her that isn’t like other girls and that causes a mutual attraction between the two -to become something irresistible and in a way, dangerous. They spend time that summer learning about each other, feeding Mia’s hunger to experience new things and live like she’s never lived before. It was dynamic, romantic, and mind-blowing but after one terrible accident, their lives are twisted up and changed. Soon after that, they are torn apart, never to speak again.

For seven years they both lived their lives separate. Surviving the accident that threw their lives into a darn-ward spin and picking up the pieces of themselves after. As far as Mia is concerned, she never heard from Raleigh again: no phone call, no letter, nothing. Now after seven years away, Mia must return to Chambliss once again with her parents to bury her grandmother Nancy and handle her personal business. No matter how hard she tries to keep her cool and stay calm, Mia can’t seem to get the boy she knew and loved long ago in this same small town she was going to return to after all of these years? Would Raleigh remember her or was it just a summer fling to him? Has he moved on with someone new and has a family now? Will Mia’s insecurities keep her from ever allowing anyone to get close to her like Raleigh did so long ago?

Raleigh has been carrying so much guilt for the accident and the results that left Mia in the hospital. Will Mia forgive him? Will Raleigh ever forgive himself? This story is a bit different because we don’t get to read how the two main characters’ relationship grows during that special summer they spend together. We don’t get to see their relationship flourish right off but we get to read when they met and moments that were special to them from that time. This was a beautiful and emotional kind of story about a young girl who has so much strength, drive and a need to live life beyond the limits placed in front of her. And it’s also about a boy who comes from a tragic background but somehow fights hard enough to overcome it and become a man with a caring heart and a loving soul. I recommend this gripping story for readers who love a great story with romance and some suspense as well. This seems to be the start of an amazing new series! Heads up: The topics of dealing with cancer, child abuse and murder are a part of this intense story. I still do recommend it because it’s well written. Make this your next exceptional story to dive into. 🙂

How I imagined the characters while reading ‘FALLING FAST’:

1 collage 4

Mia’s thoughts:  I know he’s trouble. Big, crazy, scary trouble. And for the first time I want -no, CRAVE -that trouble. He meets my eyes and smiles in a soft, intimate way. Yep biiiig trouble. He doesn’t know I’ve spent seven years of my life fighting cancer. That my short hair is not a fashion statement. Or a choice. The way he looks at me, as though I’m beautiful and healthy, makes me feel like I’ve never been sick a day in my life. He’s trouble, all right. And I don’t give a damn.

Raleigh’s thoughts:  He couldn’t refuse Mia anything, with her hunger for speed and life and him. He’d been as intoxicated by her as she was with him. Speed had nothing on the way she made him feel, how she felt in his arms, and the way she’d come alive beneath his touch..

Raleigh’s thoughts:  Loved the way she embraced life, conquered her fears. And that smile she’d shot him…hell. He was falling fast all over again, with the brakes nowhere in sight.

Raleigh and Mia:  “No one I’ve ever been with made me feel like I did with you. I knew you didn’t belong with someone like me. And I could tell you were innocent. But I invited you to watch the races anyway. Whatever it is, it’s still strong. And the sirens are, too.”
She let out a sigh, knowing he was right. They were racing on that road, heading toward a different kind of destruction. “Thank you for letting me feel this again.”
“I would do anything for you, Mia. Whatever the price.”

Raleigh and Mia:  “I do need you,” he whispered, his words raw. “It’s not fair to you, but I do.”
“Life isn’t fair. Not all the time. So we grab each good moment that we can and hold on tight.”

Wind Dragons 2 Arrows Hell by Chantal Fernando

The Synopsis for ‘ARROW’S HELL’:

Being the younger sister of a Wind Dragons MC member isn’t as great as you’d think it would be.

I can’t escape the details of my brother’s exploits.
No one tells me anything.
Men who know who I am tend to stay away from me.

And worst of all:
The members of the MC are off-limits.

When Arrow catches my eye, I make it my mission to make him happy again.

When I fall head over heels in love with him, I just hope he will be there to catch me.
And that my brother doesn’t kill him.

My ‘Blogging Reader’s ARC-Review’ after reading ‘ARROW’S HELL’ by author Chantal Fernando:

After reading the first novel of the Wind Dragons Motorcycle Club Series titled ‘Dragon’s Lair’ by Chantal Fernando, I was looking forward to reading the next novel of the series. I was gifted the opportunity to read and review the second long-awaited novel in this series “Arrow’s Hell” and I have to say it was absolutely worth the wait! This story follows the brothers of the Wind Dragons M.C. while focusing on the main characters of this sequel novel, Anna “Anna-Bell” and M.C. member Arrow. Readers, Arrow’s Hell is written in mostly the main female character’s P.O.V.(point of view) but we also get a little glimpse into Arrow’s P.O.V. as well.

This novel picks up five years later. Faye and Dex “Sin”- the President of the Wind Dragons M.C. are still together. Tension between the Wind Dragons and a rival M.C. grew into a war which ended up taking lives, one was the sweet and caring woman Mary that spent her time with the Wind Dragon’s member Killian “Arrow”. Even after five years, Arrow still carries a heavy amount of guilt, anger and sadness even after taking revenge by killing the President of the rival M.C. that murdered Mary. He now drowns himself in his M.C., alcohol and visiting the strip club. To the outside and his brothers, he’s just fine but he’s hiding so many dark feelings that are slowly tearing him up inside. When his M.C. brother Rake brings his younger sister Anna to the club, she instantly makes him feel horrible. He can’t allow himself to be attracted to someone new, he doesn’t deserve it but something about her is frustratingly confusing the hell out of his feelings.

Anna recently reunited with her brother Adam, known as Rake to his motorcycle club brothers. She’s lived on her own for a while and after the childhood they came from, they both had to learn to survive mostly on their own. Anna is beautiful and in her twenties so when she finds out that being the sister of a member in the Wind Dragons M.C. means having more eyes on her and protection she didn’t ask for, she feels the need to fight the overbearing change to her life. And it’s all thanks to her brother and his M.C family. There is one brother who always seems broody, mean and hard to read but he is the only one that seems to draw her in. Arrow is sexy, tall, with a beard that she just finds so damn sexy but his moodiness is not always a comfort to be around.

With an attraction that is so strong and hard to fight at times, Anna and Arrow find themselves constantly battling that pull and the baggage of their pasts. Will Arrow always hold himself responsible for Mary’s death? Will he ever give Anna a chance? Can Anna survive being a part of her brother Rake’s biker lifestyle or will it cause problems between them? Will Anna always see Arrow as just another biker womanizer? If you’re familiar with all of the dynamic characters of this series, you’ll be happy to know that we also get a glimpse at them as well. And readers will also get a very good look into what may be developing between Lana(Anna’s best friend) and the fun M.C. brother Tracker, who is also dealing with his rocky relationship with Allie.

The Wind Dragons M.C. takes care of their own and those they care for no matter what. Dealing their illegal business, sometimes using violence when necessary and loving hard, they are a sexy bunch of alpha-males. Not only are the males sexy and protective but there are also strong female characters in the mix, giving us awesome characters to love and hate. This storyline continues to be dangerously good and steamy in such an intense way. Just like the first novel in the Wind Dragons M.C. series, this one continues with the same texture as far as not being too gritty like other biker/M.C. novels. But it still continues to keep a dark and dramatic tone to the storyline with a sizable amount of suspense. Author Chantal Fernando again gives cameos and appearances to some of the awesome characters from her amazing ‘Maybe Series’, which include Reid Knox, Summer, Ryan, Dash, and Tag. I love when she does that! I recommend this gripping novel to readers who love a good, dark romance with hot M.C. bikers. If you’re looking for something to read, this is a definite “Must Read!”  🙂

How I imagined Arrow, Anna, Faye, Dex ‘Sin’ and Tracker of ‘Arrow’s Hell’:

1 collage 4

teaser 1

Anna’s thoughts:  Sure, my heart races whenever he is near, but I try to ignore that little factor as best as I can. It doesn’t change anything. Arrow is my guilty pleasure, something I know I shouldn’t want but want anyway. The thing is, I’ve seen little glimpses of him that makes me believe he is more than he shows the world.

Arrow’s thoughts:  The clubhouse moves around me, people talking, laughing and carrying on, but I feel like I’m frozen. Like the world is moving around me, but I’m stuck in place. I know I’m held back by my own demons, my own guilt, but I don’t deserve any redemption.

Anna’s thoughts:   Luckily for me, I’m not a young, insecure girl anymore and there’s only a handful of people in the world whose opinion I actually care about. Likely they think I’m a biker groupie, or something along those lines. In reality, I’m just a twenty-five-year-old PhD student and a girl who happens to be the younger sister of a Wind Dragons M.C. member. If people want to judge me, that’s their prerogative, and I couldn’t care less.

Arrow’s thoughts: There’s no jealousy in her eyes, no hurt.
Only understanding.
How the fuck did I get so lucky?
Me, a fuckin’ sinner.
A tainted man.
A guilty man.
