Can they compromise? And what does that look like in a modern relationship between two driven people?

Assignment Vs deployment.

They’re always traveling in different directions. What relationship can survive that?

My ‘Blogging Readers ARC-Review’ after reading ‘BATTLE SCARS’:

“Battle Scars” is the latest novel from the amazingly-talented author Jane Harvey-Berrick. This Contemporary Military Romance novel touches on deeper topics regarding war and a love that grows unexpectedly. This author never disappoints when it comes to building great characters that form believable bonds while dealing with life changing events. Battle Scars is written from the main characters’ P.O.V.’s(point of view), M.J. Buckman and Jackson Connor.

Journalist M.J. Buckman is a driven and talented journalist for a well-known news network. She has big dreams of one day getting a promotion for a permanent position as a foreign correspondent. When she finds herself in a hostile situation in Afghanistan, she finds herself thankful yet furious at a Marine who lets her know how he really feels about her being there. Unexpectedly, an open-ended invitation may just send her life toward a cross roads that she’s never had the chance to experience before.

Marine Sergeant Jackson Connor is a ruggedly, strong and devoted man who proudly serves his country. The safety of his fellow Marines and completing their missions are always his main concerns. When he’s sent on a rescue mission, he can’t help but feel frustrated at the situation and the person needing to be rescued. But what surprises him the most is this attraction he feels toward this journalist.

Battle Scars delivers an enthralling and riveting story-line about two career driven people who can’t ignore their growing connection. Even so, they have the challenges of distance due to their careers while dealing with the ups and downs that life brings. M.J. and Jack have never really felt the need to put a relationship before their work but begin to find it hard to continue feeling this way when it comes to one another. I recommend this wonderful and beautiful love story for those looking for a lovely read that isn’t too dark or heavy. This one is definitely worth checking out. ❤

Synopsis for ‘PRIVILEGED’:

Being young is all about the experiences: the first time you skip school, the first time you fall in love…the first time someone holds a gun to your head.

After being held hostage during a robbery at the local convenience store, seventeen-year-old Edie finds her attitude about life shattered. Unwilling to put up with the snobbery and bullying at her private school, she enrolls at the local public high school, crossing paths with John. The boy who risked his life to save hers.

While Edie’s beginning to run wild, however, John’s just starting to settle down. After years of partying and dealing drugs with his older brother, he’s going straight—getting to class on time, and thinking about the future.

An unlikely bond grows between the two as John keeps Edie out of trouble and helps her broaden her horizons. But when he helps her out with another first—losing her virginity—their friendship gets complicated.

Meanwhile, Edie and John are pulled back into the dangerous world they narrowly escaped. They were lucky to survive the first time, but this time they have more to lose—each other.

My ‘Blogging Readers ARC-Review’ after reading ‘PRIVILEGED’:

“Privileged” is the latest novel from author Carrie Aarons. This entertaining standalone novel comes from the Contemporary Romance genre and delivers with enjoyable characters and a decently good story-line. This story is written from the two main characters’ P.O.V.’s(point of views) which are Nora Randolph and Asher Frederick.

Nora Randolph is an American girl who’s a new student at Winston Preparatory Academy in London. It’s her senior year of high school and to add to that pressure, she must blend into this new posh school filled with her elite and privileged peers. She’s far from her old town in Pennsylvania now that she is set to become the step-daughter to the Duke of Westminster. To top it off, it seems a certain popular jerk named Asher is determined to make her life a living hell.

Asher William Frederick comes from a line of overachievers who’ve never had to worry about anything since they have the connections and money to do as they please. Asher and his father conjure up a plan to bring down the Duke of Westminster by any means necessary. They blame him for the night Asher’s mother died. With vengeance in his heart, he tries his best to satisfy his and his father’s anger. But, what Asher didn’t plan on was slowly finding himself falling for the innocent and sometimes naive Nora.

Can Nora handle every little snide remark and prank these rich snobs sling her way? And can Nora find her place in her new challenging life? Will Asher ever find a way to heal from his mother’s death or will he continue to live in his shallow lifestyle with no real depth? This story was a pleasant surprise and did not disappoint. It’s a fun read with a plot that keeps things interesting. It’s great to see the characters grow from start to finish. If you’re looking for something appealing to entertain your romance-reader needs, this one is a good one! Check this out. ❤

The Synopsis:

Tyler (TY)

Football is life.
Growing up, my family loved to cheer me on, and after my parents accident, I vowed to be the best I could be to honor their memory. After a while, life starts to pile up though, college, football, and helping out my brothers. I just need a small reprieve, especially if she’s five foot five, brunette and has legs that go on for miles.
Fun is fun… Not like anyone’s going to fall in love.

Kadence

Star football player….. Check.
Spoiled brat….. Check.
Just when I think I have Tyler Owen’s all figured out; he knocks me on my ass, literally.
I wasn’t expecting him to help me up, or the little shock that I felt when we touched, but then I didn’t think I’d fall in love either.

______

My ‘Blogging Reader’s ARC-Review’ after reading ‘1st TIME LOVE’ by Sapphire Knight:

This is the first novel in the new Dirty Down South Series by Author Sapphire Knight. It’s titled “1st Time Love” and falls into the genres of Contemporary Sports Romance and is a New Adult novel. This novel is written from the two main characters’ P.O.V.’s(point of views) which are Kadence and Tyler.

Kadence Winters is a naturally beautiful college girl who chooses to focus on getting to class more than getting to the weekend’s big party spot. Her best friend Brianne is her polar opposite but that has never put a dent in their friendship. Kadence, being the somewhat clumsy girl that she is, runs into another student in the hall. When she realizes that it’s Tyler Owens, the very attractive, flirty classmate who probably never knew she existed, who also happens to be a very valuable player on the football team, she can’t help but be shocked to find out he’s actually a gentleman and not everything that she assumed he was.

Tyler “Freight Train” Owens is lucky #12 on the team at Alabama, and his southern charm has never failed him when it comes to the ladies. On the field he’s earned his name “Freight Train” because of his amazing football defensive skills. His family consists of just him and his two older brothers who look out for each other, even more so ever since their parents passed away. His future looks bright and promising. He had no idea that his life would change after a simple run-in down the hall with a girl named Kadence Winters. He, literally and figuratively, never saw her coming his way.

“1st Time Love” is a delightful and entertaining story about finding your first love in a person that is different than what you would’ve expected. They are more than what you could’ve never imagined. The main characters, Kadence and Tyler, are well written and draw you into their story in an enjoyable and beautiful way. There are characters in here that you know are meant to cause issues but the author does well with not making this become a typical drama. That was a great thing! Since this is a series, I’m hoping to see what happens with the other Owens brothers and even the one character that was the definite villain in this story-line. I recommend this if you’re searching for a fantastic romance novel to read. Give this one a read! ❤

The Synopsis:

They say everyone’s a superhero to someone. I’m not sure who I’m supposed to save, but I know who saved me.

We were kids. His name was Christopher. And up until the day he pulled me from death’s grip, he was nothing more than a boy I felt sorry for. In a blink of an eye, he became the only person who made me feel safe.

And then he disappeared.

Now I’m seventeen. I’m not a kid anymore. I haven’t been for years. While death didn’t take me that day, the things that happened left me with scars—the kind that robbed me of everything I once loved and drove me into darkness. But more than anything else, that day—and every day since—has taken away my desire to dream.

I wasn’t going to have hope. I wouldn’t let myself wish. Those things—they weren’t for girls like me. That’s what I believed…until the new boy.

He’s nothing like the old boy. He’s taller and older. His hair is longer, and his body is lean—strong and ready for anything. I don’t feel sorry for him. And sometimes, I hate him. He challenges me. From the moment I first saw him standing there on the baseball field, he pushed me—his eyes constantly questioning, doubting…daring. Still, something about him—it feels…familiar.

He says his name is Wes. But I can’t help but feel like he’s someone else. Someone from my past. Someone who’s come back to save me.

This time, though, he’s too late. Josselyn Winters, the girl he once knew, is gone. I am the threat; I am my worst enemy. And he can’t save me from myself.

______

My ‘Blogging Reader’s ARC-Review’ after reading ‘A BOY LIKE YOU’ by Ginger Scott:

A Boy Like You is the latest novel by the amazing author Ginger Scott. Ginger said that this novel was a little different than her previous work and I have to say she has struck gold with this one. Once I completed reading this, one thought came to mind: Mind blown! This novel is a part of the Young Adult genre and is a Contemporary Romance but honestly, this story goes beyond those general genres with its amazing delivery. A Boy Like You is written from the main character’s P.O.V.(Point of view), Josselyn “Joss” Winters.

Josselyn Winters lived a normal childhood full of fun memories with her best friend Taryn. It started off as a normal day hosting fun races with her friends Taryn and Kyle, their fellow classmates, and even the weird-quiet kid Christopher. Her world of normal was all shattered one day when she hears her parents arguing in their room. It rips Josselyn’s world apart. When a terrible ordeal puts Josselyn in danger, an unexpected hero rescues her from what could have become a tragedy. But as quickly as he becomes her safety he just as quickly disappears.

Josselyn, now 17, isn’t the same girl she was 8 years ago. She’s a great shortstop softball player and tends to make risky choices from time to time. She has a broken and terrible relationship with her father. She meets some guys at the nearby baseball field with her best friend Taryn and it ends up being a fun meet up. Joss and Taryn’s interests are piqued when they find out that the three guys will be attending their school this year. One boy in particular draws Josselyn’s interest the most. He’s quiet, confident, and Josselyn can’t help her attraction to this new enigma named Wes Stokes.

For Joss, there’s something very intriguing about the new guy Wes. And there is something strangely familiar about him as she gets to know him better. He reminds her of someone she used to know a long time ago. While Joss tends to make dangerous and risky choices, Wes quickly tries to get her to stop making so many risky choices but Joss is stubborn. Even so, Wes has a way of getting Joss to think twice. As Joss and Wes grow closer, she can’t help but notice and begin to question strange occurrences when it comes to Wes. After something happens flipping all of their lives upside down and shattering their normal existences, where will this lead their lives? Will Josselyn be able handle all of these overwhelming changes?

As a reviewer who’s always adored Ginger Scott’s great stories, I have to say that this one really sent me on an extremely intense and emotional journey. I was overwhelmed, consumed, and completely captured by this riveting novel and the fierce and love-able characters. Just when the reader thinks they’ve reached their HEA, you realize there is so much more that remains in Joss and Wes’s story. I absolutely, without a shadow of a doubt, highly recommend this novel wholeheartedly. Please note, this is not the end of Joss and Wes’s story, so be ready for more in the Summer of 2017!! You will definitely not be disappointed. Yes, there is a cliffhanger but trust me, it’s worth it! Please check this one out today! LOVED the heck out of this! One of my new favorites, by far! ❤

MEMORABLE QUOTES & LINES FROM ‘A BOY LIKE YOU’

Josselyn’s thoughts:  When I was younger, I would fall asleep imagining him holding me, tugging my blanket tightly around my body to feel safe -the way I felt in his arms, in the only real hug I’d ever had. I haven’t done that in years…until last night.

Josselyn’s thoughts on Wes:  His eyes stay on me for a few more seconds, and I dive into them, finding the familiar. I don’t even care if it’s make believe at this point. I’m overcome with his strength and the feel of his embrace, and I do something that I regret the moment it starts.
I cry.

Wes and Joss:  “I love the way you see me. I do,” he says, his breath held until the last second when he painfully exhales, and his shoulders fall along with his hand from my face. “You make me want to live up to your expectations. I’m afraid I’ll disappoint them, thought.”
“I don’t have any expectations. Wes. I learned about disappointment a long time ago. I just wanted you to know I appreciate what you did. that’s all,” I say.

The Synopsis for ‘DEAR LIFE’ :

Four lives. Four stories. Four sets of letters. Four brave souls in need of guidance while facing life’s greatest challenges.

The anonymously published Dear Life program is designed to help them step outside of their comfort zones, face their obstacles, and relinquish their demons…and prove their existence.

With their lives teetering between wanting more and losing it all, all four souls dive into the program as a New Year’s resolution, sending them on a crazy, life-altering journey.

Dear Life,

Please be kind.

Yours truly, Hollyn, Jace, Daisy, and Carter.

💖

My ‘Blogging Reader’s ARC Review’ for DEAR LIFE by author Meghan Quinn:

The latest novel titled “Dear Life” by author Meghan Quinn, will take you on such an emotional journey and in a few instances is a tear-jerkier. This novel falls under the genres of New Adult and Contemporary Romance. Dear Life is written from the four main characters’ P.O.V.’s (Point of views) which are Hollyn, Daisy, Carter, and Jace.

All four of these characters must finally face the trials and tribulations that could easily break them and will undoubtedly change the course of their lives. As they struggle to progress in life, they are each introduced to a program called Dear Life, that is meant to help them face whatever personal challenges they are struggling with. One deals with the death of her husband, another deals with facing the world after a sheltered upbringing, one faces the aftermath of a selfless and painful choice they made for their baby, and another deals with having had nothing but a negative and tough life growing up.

Hollyn knew happiness and love but when her life is drastically turned upside down, she buries herself in the all consuming sadness she feels. Jace has a promising career as a professional baseball player but his life brings him to a place where he must make a heavy decision while trying to keep it out of the public eye. He must face the toughest choice of his life and the emotional results of it all. Next, you have Daisy. She’s been raised by her grandmother and finds it challenging to finally have to face everything that is new in her life. And then you have Carter. Despite having parents that were selfish addicts, and being raised by a mean uncle, he’s always had a dream that has been his constant light at the end of his unpleasant tunnel. He struggles to look beyond the negative that has become his normal perspective in life.

“Dear Life” is not your average romantic novel. It digs deeper and touches on dynamics that will, in one moment, just rip at your heart then flip completely, and tug at one’s heartstrings. Will life break Jace, Hollyn, Carter, and Daisy, or is there really a way they can grow past their obstacles in life? Will the the Dear Life program actually introduce them to something good or will it just make things worse? And when one door closes, no matter how painful it is, will the next lead them toward a place of growth and healing? Can they each succeed in the program and truly overcome whatever drawback or hurdle they’ve been dealt? This novel was quite unique and touching. I highly recommend this novel for those who love a great story that will emotionally hold onto you until the very end. And  to Meghan Quinn, it was a beautiful addition to add the personal touch at the end. You should definitely add “Dear Life” to your life!

MEMORABLE QUOTES & LINES FROM ‘DEAR LIFE’

Hollyn’s thoughts: What was supposed to be a love of everlasting armor was easily cracked, broken, and lost. Sorrow, anguish, and heartache pour from my eyes, coating my cheeks and soaking my shirt in a collection of lost memories. This is it, this is my life full of… nothing.

Jace’s thoughts: They are glazed over with sleep but I take this moment, I take it like a greedy fucking bastard and savor it. Eye contact. Inwardly, I speak to her, begging her to remember me, to know me, to believe me when I say I love her.

Carter’s words: “I lost the one thing that was going to change my life and put me on the right track, that was going to set me free. I know how you feel, Snowflake, wanting that freedom.” A little more quietly, looking down at his hands, he adds, “I know all too well.”

Daisy’s thoughts: The reflection in the mirror is the girl I’ve always known. She’s sheltered, naive, old-fashioned, maybe a little outdated, slightly childish. I’ve always liked her, but maybe there  is more for the girl in the mirror. Maybe it’s time for her to grow up. Maybe she’s not as likeable as I once thought. I want there to be more.

Carter and Jace: “Daisy and I are completely different. She’s exploring the world for the first time. I know the shit the world has to offer.”
“But you’re helping her,” I add.
He shrugs his shoulders. “There is something about her I like. She fascinates me. If I have to do this program, I might as well help her on her journey.”

Carter’s thoughts: She renewed my spirit with one simple, yet gorgeous smile. How is that even possible? That this woman, who knows nothing except how to be positive, can have such an effect on me? Either way, for whatever reason, I crave to be around her right now. She’s the only bright spot in my life. It might not be permanent -it can’t be permanent -but I’m going to be a selfish bastard and soak her up as much as possible, because at least around her, I don’t hate myself as much.

Jace and Hollyn: “Don’t throw that away on a few wasted words that were said in the heat of the moment but meant nothing. Like you said, don’t devalue what you had because of a mistake.”
He pauses, allowing time for his words to sink in. Shaking his head, eyes cast down, he chuckles. “Fuck, I hate that what we are going through is so similar and yet, so different.”
“Like we were meant to find each other. Help each other.”
“As if we were brought together in this world, at the most difficult times in our lives, to be mad, but with a purpose.”
