There have been many YA book to movie adaptations hitting the big screen in large sums in the past several years. Sadly, some are not given a chance, they are pre-judged and hated on before even given an open-minded shot. And yes, because of this, they fall short in ticket sales.

★VAMPIRE ACADEMY IS NOT TWILIGHT! RESPECT THEIR DIFFERENCES!★
The most recent favorite that fell short in Box Office sales is Vampire Academy.As a fan of the VAMovie, I was truly disappointed that it didn’t do great because the story that this film is derived from, is better than many other YA books that have been adapted recently and should’ve been held higher than many that have actually done well. It seems that after the Twilight Saga was done, people grew weary of ‘vampires’. Too bad people didn’t give the story itself the opportunity to show that the vampire aspect isn’t the ONLY thing this story is about.Many people not familiar with the best-selling VA novel series, chose not to give this film a fair chance, which is sad for VA because it was pre-judged before it was given a real chance to prove it is NOT Twilight or any other film it’s compared to! It’s simply:Vampire Academy.

The last minute release date change may not have helped much. And some people have said that the trailers didn’t do the film justice and that the promotion of the VAMovie didn’t sell the story well. We could say, yes we can see their perspective and we can say, we wish all of the trailers were more like it’s Music Video because that thing has BITE:

★REVIEWERS OR HATERS? CAN’T TELL THE DIFFERENCE!★
Then, there are the many Negative Reviews 💨from sites that seemed to make it their mission to share some really sour opinions on the VAMovie. Many people and fans of the “VAfamily” have said that some reviewers who shared such negative reviews were upset due to the fact that there was no Press Pre-Screening of the film before hand and they had to watch the film with the general public. Rumor or fact? No one will admit it and unfortunately, there are many negative reviews on Vampire Academy floating around the worldwide web now regardless. But honestly,I’d prefer to read the ‘general public’ opinion/reviews anyway and those can be found all over Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr.

Many book to movie adaptations fail sometimes to capture the essence of the original story source, the book itself. Vampire Academy is one of the recent ones that actually got most of the book conveyed into the film. That doesn’t happen too often. With a story that focuses more on friendship, has a nice amount of action and keeps romances as secondary, this story was not given a real chance to shine like it deserved to.
Vampire Academy’s book series is a worldwide best seller: The first book of the series is probably the only one that has so much of a ‘high school’ feel to it and it’s very disappointing to think that the rest of the VA book series won’t get a chance to prove how epic and unique the Vampire Academy series truly is.

★WILL THERE BE A SEQUEL? “FROSTBITE” ANYONE???★
Will there be a sequel? Some say no but we hope YES! The no would only be due to the fact that it didn’t do well in sales in the U.S. but the worldwide sales are still unknown at this time. All VAfamily and new found Vampire Academy fans would love to see the next book of the series made into a movie: FROSTBITE.We know it would change minds because it definitely delves into the darker parts of this wonderful story. Maybe, just maybe it will happen… if so, we just have to recommend a few ideas to consider to the awesome Producers of the VAmovie world…
★AS FANS, WE LOVE YOU BUT… HERE’S A LITTLE CREATIVE CRITICISM:★
►We’d love to see the trailers show some of the true dark sides of the story from the start. ►►We loved these guys but… Maybe try a new screenwriter or director. (Like some of those ‘Arrow’ or ‘Agents Of Shield’ crew) -but don’t get us wrong, the screenwriter did a great job at keeping VA close to the story! 🙂 ►►►Find where the VAMovie fell short & learn from it. Make the sequel(hoping for one) better, by strengthening the weak spots of its predecessor. And know that the VAfamily (Vampire Academy Fans) has your back & will support it! 🙂

Original Post (Pre-TV Series news):Bad reviews, a soft opening and a tepid $80 million worldwide haul—these are not the signposts for a successful launch of a YA franchise. And indeed, despite a small but very vocal fanbase for “The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones,” it seemed that Constantin Film had thrown in the towel when it was announced that the in-development sequel, “The Mortal Instruments: City Of Ashes,” was being shut down indefinitely. The future of the series was in doubt, but today, it looks like fans of Cassandra Clare have reason to rejoice.
It seems your letters and petitions have paid off as Constantin has revealed that ‘City Of Ashes’ will continue forward one way or another. “The fan response, from the blogosphere and the thousands of mails we have received, has encouraged us to keep going,” head of the company’s film and TV Martin Moszkowicz told THR, before adding the zinger: “It’s been overwhelmingly positive, in contrast to some other YA titles.” But that doesn’t mean that he’s completely blind to the fact that ‘Bones’ failed to find a wide audience.
“We are analyzing what we did wrong with the first film, particularly with the positioning and marketing, and what changes we have to make,” he explained. “We are working with a great group of people to reposition the franchise.”
It’ll be interesting to see how Constantin approach production on the sequel. We can’t imagine they’ll spend more than the $60 million they did on ‘City Of Bones’ this time around, but clearly there is something in the numbers they’re getting to indicate this series is worth a second crack. -via: indiewire.

We have updated news on the progress of the Mortal Instruments Book Series becoming a television series. The word is that ABC Family channel will be where you will find the “Mortal Instruments” drama series titled “Shadowhunters”. The show idea is said to be a 13-episode drama series and casting news will be announced in the near future since production is said to begin in May in Toronto. Check back for more updates!

The latest news that was announced in 2014 from Constantin Films (owns the rights to the Shadowhunter books) is that they are Not doing a film after all for City of Ashes but are working on developing a television show instead. This will be working toward creating a pilot for the show with show runner Ed Decter (Helix) in hopes to get the show into production some time in 2015. There is no news yet if the same cast will return or if there will be a recasting for the t.v. show. More news to come. I will share it once it is announced.

The adaptation Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters, will be having one busy week filled with promotional spots. We will be adding this week’s interviews from Entertainment Tonight, MTV and will try to get photos/video when the cast visits New York City’s Comic-Con on Friday. Entertainment Tonight aired their behind-the-scenes visit to the Blood Sisters Movie set while the cast was still shooting the film. Also, later this week, MTV will air it’s footage from their visit to the ‘Blood Sisters’ set visit as well.

Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters is an upcoming fantasy adventure film based on the 2007 best-selling novel Vampire Academy by best-selling author Richelle Mead..
This book to movie adaptation titled Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters has a great cast with many familiar names as well as fresh new talent to the big screen. It already has a huge fan following and thanks to social media, it’s only getting bigger! 🙂
The photo above has the young male cast members. You have real life Russian actor playing a sexy Russian instructor/Guardian at the Academy. His name is Danila Kozlovsky as Dimitri Belikov who trains Rose, as they both fight feelings that begin to flourish in this first book/movie. You also have Dominic Sherwood as pyromaniac(known to his character’s fans)outcast-Moroi Christian Ozera who becomes the love interest of Lissa. Then you have Cameron Monaghan as a loveable character named dhampir Mason Ashford who is a good friend of Rose.
Next are some Moroi characters. Aaron who is Lissa’s ex is the next character played by Edward Holcroft, then there is Moroi Jesse Zeklos played by Ashley Charles and lastly is Jesse’s Moroi friend Ray who is played by Chris Mason. 🙂
Many of the cast members are talented familiar names such as Olga Kurylenko as Headmistress Kirova, Gabriel Byrne as Victor Dashkov, Joely Richardson as Queen Tatiana and Claire Foy as Sonya Karp all in major supporting roles.
Since the first Vampire Academy Movie is based around St. Vladamir Academy, there are many young actors staring in this adaptation. Young female cast includes Zoey Deutch as lead dhampir Rose Hathaway, Sarah Hyland as Natalie Dashkov, Lucy Fry as Lissa Dragomir and Sami Gayle as Mia Rinaldi.
Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters Movie hits theaters in most countries: Feb. 14th, 2014
