Taken by the Jakhua Clan as a teen, 194 was stripped of his name, his identity, and his freewill, meticulously honed to be a ruthless, soulless killing machine, trained solely to spill blood and stop hearts. This is a role he resents with every fiber of his being, but one he embraces to gain back the precious leverage the Georgians wield as their weapon of control: his younger sister, 152.
Mzia Kostava is in shock. After fleeing her mafia family’s massacre in Georgia as a child, Mzia lives in secret, hiding from her enemies in the dark shadows of Manhattan. At age twenty-five, believing all her family is dead, word reaches Mzia that her brother Zaal is very much alive… and living with their family’s greatest enemy: the Volkov Bratva in Brooklyn.
Yearning to be reunited with her beloved Zaal, Mzia risks her safety and anonymity for the brother she had mourned since childhood. But just as she reaches Zaal’s apartment, Mzia is seized and taken captive by a strange man, who is strong, dark, and brutal… Unyielding, he demands her utter obedience as he locks her away in darkness. He is highly skilled in torture and inflicting pain, and demands to know everything about her brother Zaal and everything about her. He is a man that’ll do anything to get what he wants.
Sometimes love requires the sacrifice and betrayal of those held most dear. But is finding one’s true love worth committing the greatest sacrifice of all?
My ‘Blogging Reader’s ARC-Review’ after reading ‘RAVAGE’:
***WARNING: Possible SPOILERS if you haven’t read the previous Novels of the Scarred Souls Series.***
“Ravage” is the third novel of this exciting and intense Scarred Souls Series by author Tillie Cole. There is so much that can be said about this deeply dark, twisted yet captivating novel and series. For starters, these characters are well written and the story-line delivers in such detailed and enthralling ways. What adds to the depth of the story is the fact that the story is written from the three main character’s P.O.V.’s(point of views): Valentin Belrov/194, Zoya Kostava, and Luka Tolstoi.
Still a child, he has only known fear and the need to protect the only family he still has in his life at the orphanage, his younger sister. A group known to them as The Night Wraiths, always come in the middle of the night to take kids to some unknown destination. On the night that changes the young boy’s life, he tries his best at having a strong will to protect his sister no matter the cost. If death, losing control of his life, and being under the control of another is what is expected to protect his family, then that is what he’ll do. He loses his identity and becomes known only as “194.” No matter the target, 194 must do what he has to in this torturous and twisted lifestyle he’s been thrown into. Will they ever be able to escape the clutches of the sadistic maniacs that control their lives? With their semi-control over his mind and protecting his sister, “152” as his purpose, who will be the familiar person to readers, that 194 must target and destroy?
Zoya Kostava finally received confirmation about one of her brother’s, twin Zaal being alive and hopes to hear news about her other brother/twin Anri. Her goal is to reach out to him and let him know that he still has family and she did not die on the night that their family was masacred. Zoya has waited so long for this reunion to happen but when she learns more about the life he’s living now, she is confused and angered. She finds that Zaal seems to have allied with the very people who had a hand in their family being killed. She must find a way to get to him and to let him know that he has true blood waiting to be a part of his life again. When the reunion is hampered by an unexpected surprise, will Zoya ever get the chance to reunite with one of her twin brother’s or will she become a victim at the hands of an assassin?
After destroying the evil madman Jakhua, all has been calm, too calm for the future Pakhan Luka and the current family leaders’ liking. When an uninvited guest flies to town, they know that danger is a breath away and they better be ready for what battles may be headed their way. Luka Tolstoi, the future Pakhan(leader), is ready to face whatever is set to come their way under the lead of his father and their current Pakhan Kirill. Knowing that Zaal is also by his side, Luka knows that their power is getting stronger and that the threats headed their way will not beat them without a real fight. Now, the questions that remain are: Who has arrived? When and where will the enemy attack? And will Luka and Zaal be able to keep their family and the loves of their lives safe?
This story leaves us hoping to see that Valentin’s sister Inessa can be rescued from the clutches of the “Blood Pit” owner, the powerful and sadistic man known as “Master.” When family- blood or not, is all you have driving your choices, you’d do anything to protect them. “Ravage” is a beast of a story with mind-blowing twists and turns as well as intense and amazing characters that will take you to some dark places on their deep emotional journeys in their lives as they face challenges and danger. The crime families tied to this story will find themselves headed toward a bigger war than they could’ve anticipated. Zoya and Valentin are both damaged and beautiful characters and even though their story is not for the faint of hearts, it’s as deep and intense as I’d expect from the amazing author Tillie Cole. Warning: Contains explicit sexual situations, excessive violence, offensive language and mature topics. I highly recommend “Ravage” and the mind-blowing “Scarred Souls Series” for readers who love a great love story that takes you through tough terrain and on a heartbreaking journey before getting to where they need to be. Life isn’t pretty and perfect and this novel does not hold back. This is worth reading. It’s a very powerful, dark and deep story! Definitely check this one out! 👊
**Content Warning**: Dark Contemporary Romance. Contains explicit sexual situations, excessive violence, disturbingly sensitive and taboo subjects, offensive language and mature topics. Recommended for age 18 years and up.
MY BLOGGING READER’S STAR RATING: ‘RAVAGE’ 4 1/2 out of 5 stars:
How I imagined the characters while reading ‘RAVAGE’:
★★★MEMORABLE QUOTES & LINES FROM ‘RAVAGE’★★★
“Mistress and “194”: “If you want to keep her alive, you will learn to do anything we say. You will become a Night Wraith, as this place calls us. You will become an unseen killer. You will become one with the night. You will be my prized Ubiytsa, my most effective assassin.”
And I did. As the years passed, I became a ghost in the night.
I became the deliverer of death.
I was torture. I was pain.
I was the fucking nightmare that no one ever saw coming…
…until it was too late.
Zaal, Luka, and Luka’s father: “I am not Lideri. I was born to lead with my brother, together; without him I will not take the seat of my house. I am not the man I was destined to be. My people deserve more than me.”
Zaal kept his head lowered, his long black hair hiding his face, when my father said in an authoritative, but fatherly, voice, “You have a brother, Zaal. He sits beside you, ready to take on this family’s seat, too. You are a Kostava, but you are soon to be joined to my daughter. I would say that even with what you have both gone through- Luka and yourself- you are exactly where you were meant to be.”
Zoya’s thoughts: Last night, the man was coldly cruel and violent. He gave his instructions like he had no choice. Like something deep inside was making him do these despicable things.
This version of the man had knowing eyes. His eyes today were bright and filled with the most amazing blue color. And he knew exactly what he was doing. The way he watched me. The way he smelled me. He teased and tested my endurance. It was all him. This version of the monster was very much in charge of his own actions.
This version of the man terrified me like I’d never been terrified before- he knowingly made me scream. Yet despite this, I could see a flare of humanity in his stare.
Last night, there had been none.
“194 and his captive: Her skin burned against mine, and with one last lap of her earlobe I growled, “In this chamber, you’re mine. What I want you do, your body I own, until you tell me what I want to know.”
“194” and his captive: 194 and his captive: As my hands explored her silky skin, a deep need inside wanted me to possess her and take her as my own. I’d never had anything of my own.
This female writhing in my arms was bringing warmth to my cold dead heart. Her strength and courage as she took both pain and pleasure, destroyed the hatred I had of Georgian females. She was nothing like Mistress. This Georgian was a warrior queen compared to that sadistic whore.
Valentin to Zoya: “I am remembering you. I am remembering how you feel, how you smell, how you look, so when I don’t have you anymore I can still remember it all. So I don’t confuse it with a dream.”
