The Synopsis of ‘Masquerade’:

A biker. A tattoo artist. A love to last a lifetime.

Maddox Cross has always had to be tough. When his father went to jail for murder, the teenager took care of his sister and mother. Now on his own and working security at a night club, Maddox wants to become a tattoo artist-a dream that comes closer to reality when he falls for the hottest, most tatted woman he’s ever seen. She’s wild and beautiful, and Maddox will do anything to be with her.

Bee Malone came to town to open up her new tattoo parlor, Masquerade. Since being kidnapped as a young girl, Bee has had trouble getting close to anyone. But when she meets Maddox, she sees that under his hard biker’s body is the sensitive soul of an artist. What starts out as a sizzling one-night stand soon becomes so much more.

Bee wants Maddox to join her tattoo business, but letting him into her life means revealing all her most intimate secrets. And as the past begins to intertwine with her present, Bee fears their love may not be as permanent as their ink . . .

My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading ‘MASQUERADE’ by Nyrae Dawn:

I’m so happy that I was given the chance to review this story with an ARC copy before the actual release date of this novel! Nyrae Dawn is one of my favorite writers in her genre so I was looking forward to this latest story from the Games series.  The story of ‘Masquerade’ is the 3rd novel of the Games Series.  I’ve previously reviewed the 2nd novel of this series titled ‘Facade’, which you will be able to find the link for that review at the bottom of this post.  I was drawn to this story after reading a sample of it after reading ‘Facade’.  It had me hooked and I was excited to follow the story of the older brother of Laney from the 2nd novel of this series. His name is Maddox Cross and his description is enough to make any lady readers swoon even though he has some dark secrets that make him keep at a distance. There is also another main character in this story with her own dark secrets from her past, her name is ‘Bee’ Malone.  As always, you’ll be happy to know that the story is written with two P.O.V.(Point of views) from both main characters of the story.

The main male character in this story, Maddox is definitely the epitome of ‘tall, dark and handsome’ but you would also have to throw into the mix: angry, closed-off, distant and full of secrets.  He has his reasons for being the way he is and he is not willing to share that with anyone, not even his little sister, Laney who he loves more than anything or anyone.  He does security at a local bar/club but he has wanted to try out his artist skills and try out for a chance to intern at a local tattoo shop that recently opened in town.  Before he pursues any of that, he ends up meeting a young, hot, blonde at his job and they both agree for a fun night and then they are on their way. The funny thing is, this town may be smaller than he ever could have imagined.

Then there is the beautiful, tattooed, blonde, tattoo-artist who’s new to town who goes by ‘Bee’ Malone.  She has opened her new tattoo business named ‘Masquerade’. The name she chose takes a deeper meaning than anyone really knows. Bee, who seems to have a bit of an identity crisis due to having been kidnapped and being reintroduced to the family she was taken from.  Beneath her tough and sexy exterior, there is more to ‘Bee’ than she allows herself to admit to anyone.

Things change for both Maddox and Bee after they first meet and the questions are will it ever be the same? Can either of them truly overcome their past lives and move forward?  When you find someone who is so much like you, that seems to strangely understand your ways, when no one else can comprehend, can that be too much? I highly recommend this intoxicating and enthralling story about surviving your past and trying to figure out who you really are. Especially for these characters who’ve chosen to push everyone away who has cared for them because of their past. See if they find their salvation when it could be closer than they ever could imagine.

★★★MEMORABLE QUOTES FROM ‘MASQUERADE’★★★

(I will only be sharing a few quotes due to the fact that this review was written from an ARC-copy/pre-release)

Bee Malone’s thoughts:  People throw love around all the time, but I’ve seen it make people do crazy things.  It’s not something I’m sure I want.

Bee Malone’s thoughts on Maddox Cross:  He’s gorgeous and trouble, and from the scowl on his face, he’s probably angry at the world just I’m confused by it.

Maddox Cross’ thoughts on Bee Malone:  My eyes scan her, taking in the really short cotton shorts and tank top she’s wearing.  The girl has a killer body and she obviously isn’t afraid to show it, which makes her even more hot.

Maddox Cross’ thoughts:  …trying not to concentrate on the fact that even though I got something I want, something I need, I still want to take out the fucking world because of everything I’ve lost.

Maddox and Bee:
“Stop making me want you.” That same heat from his eyes is now in his words.
“Stop letting me have you,” I reply, and it seems to inflame him more.

Bee Malone’s thoughts:  The lines are blurring for the first time in my life and I don’t know how the hell I feel about it.  Don’t know why I’m not walking away.
