Perfect Kind Of Trouble by Chelsea Fine

The Synopsis:

Sometimes when perfect falls apart, a little trouble fixes everything . . .

Twenty-one-year-old Kayla Turner has lost everything. After spending most of her life taking care of her ailing mother, she just wants to spot a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. So when her late father-a man she barely knew-leaves her an inheritance, she finally breathes a sigh of relief . . . until she learns the inheritance comes with strings. Strings in the form of handsome playboy Daren Ackwood, her father’s protégé. To see any of her inheritance, she’s forced to team up with him. From his expensive car to those sexy dimples, Kayla’s seen his type before. But Daren isn’t who he seems to be . . .

Struggling to make amends for his family’s mistakes, Daren has a life more Oliver Twist than Richie Rich these days. He’s beyond grateful that James Turner included him in his will, but working with Turner’s princess of a daughter to fulfill his cryptic last wish is making Daren wonder if being broke is really so bad. Still, she’s just as beautiful as she is stubborn, and the more time he spends with Kayla, the less it feels right being without her. Soon Daren and Kayla begin to wonder if maybe the best gift Kayla’s dad could have left them . . . was each other.

My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading ‘PERFECT KIND OF TROUBLE (Finding Fate Series book #2)’:

I was given the chance to read and review an ARC early-copy of ‘Perfect Kind Of Love’ by Author Chelsea Fine.  This story is a New Adult novel in the Contemporary Romance genre.  I’ll admit that I have yet to read the first novel in ‘Finding Fate Series’ but I was still looking forward to reviewing the latest novel, since I had not read any work yet by Chelsea Fine before.  The story is written in the two main-character’s P.O.V.’s, Kayla Turner and Daren Ackwood.

Kayla Turner has been estranged for many years from her father, ever since moving away with her mother to Chicago, leaving behind the small town of Copper Springs, Arizona.  Kayla had always been told by her mother, Gia, that her father abandoned them and stopped giving them money which left them struggling.  Because of this, Kayla became resentful of the father that she once loved and thought loved her.  During this time, Kayla learns that her mother has a problem and it is slowly killing her.  On top of that, her mother has a debt that falls into Kayla’s lap when her mother is incapable of paying it back.

Kayla is notified that the father she hasn’t seen in years, has passed away.  She is dealing with so many emotions and on top of that, she has the debt that her mother left her with, that she has no idea of how she will pay back.  Leaving Chicago, she heads back to the small town where her father called home, to attend her father’s funeral.  She doesn’t expect anything but after meeting with her father’s attorney and hearing the reading of his Will, things go in a whole new direction for her.  Upon her return to Copper Springs, she discovers that lies were told and things that she had always believed, may not have been the whole true story.

When Daren Ackwood first heard about the passing of James Turner, he felt sad and a little angry.  He never knew that Mr. Turner was even ill  to the extent that it would take his life so soon.  Then he spots her.  Kayla Turner has come to her father’s funeral.  Daren sees her as a brat, who never gave time to her father except to live off of the trust fund he set up for her.  Daren saw James Turner as a role model, mentor and even cared for him like a father, thanks to the fact that James took Daren under his wing since the age of thirteen.  When Daren is notified that he must attend the reading of James Turner’s Will,  he comes face to face with Kayla and an adventure begins with a partner he never thought he’d have to be linked to in order to complete the wishes of James Turner’s Will.

This story was a fun, entertaining, contemporary romance.  I enjoyed the idea behind the story and the way everything blended together. I really like the cover, very sexy and nice! It was a good read, the characters were likeable and written, and the story flowed with its simple but pleasant storyline.  If you’re looking for an easy-going romance novel to read, then this one is for you.

How I imagined the characters while reading ‘PERFECT KIND OF TROUBLE’:

1 collage 2

Kayla’s thoughts:  The heels of my black pumps slowly sink into the soft grass as I stare down at the last I’ll ever see of James Turner.  I try to muster up some sort of sadness, but all I come up with is more anger.  With a long inhale, I toss a soft white rose petal onto the brown and red dirt, and quietly say, “Rest in peace, daddy.”

Daren’s thoughts:  She used to visit her dad in the summer, so every once in a while I’d catch glimpses of her inside the house while I was out mowing the lawn.  And there are some faces you just don’t forget.  Back then, she was all elbows and knees and freckles.  But damn if Kayla Turner didn’t grow up to be a total knockout.  There wasn’t a breathing soul in the cemetery today that didn’t openly gape at her.

Kayla’s thoughts:  According to Lana, and every other girl at Copper Springs High, Daren was some kind of god in bed.  I doubt any of the things she told me were true, but they certainly gave Daren quite the reputation.  Regardless of the rumors, I know his type.  They charm and seduce and leave a trail of broken hearts in their wake.  I have no intentions of being a left-behind heart.  Not for Daren or anyone else.

Daren’s thoughts:  There’s a difference between the whimper of a woman who’s just having fun and the sound of a woman starving for pleasure.  And Kayla Turner needs to be pleased.  Badly.  But not by me, apparently.  She probably thinks she’s too good for me.  And in reality, she is.  But the truth still stings.

Kayla’s thoughts:  Daren has been nonstop interesting -and absolute trouble, just like I thought.  But it was the kind of trouble I needed to feel alive.  It shook me up.  It woke me up.  It was the perfect kind of trouble.  I glance in the mirror at the beautiful boy in the backseat.  And I want to be in it all over again.

James Turner:  ‘Because money without love is complete poverty.  And poverty with love, well that’s pure wealth.’
