The Synopsis:

Some passions can’t be denied…

Jessi Randal walked away from her last relationship with a baby and a broken heart. Now, years later, the last thing this single mom wants is to give Windfall Island—and all its nosy residents—anything more to gossip about. But the moment she lays eyes on the tall, sexy stranger with the slow Southern drawl, she knows she’s in delicious trouble . . .

Holden Abbot is on the island to find the missing heir to the Stanhope family fortune. It’s his job to charm as many secrets out of the town as possible. And if he can charm Jessi into his bed, even better. When all evidence points to her as the heir, a dangerous enemy sets his sights on Jessi and her son. Now Holden will have to risk everything to protect the family he’s come to love.

My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading ‘HIDEAWAY COVE (Windfall Island Series book #2)’:

I had the chance to read and review an ARC early-copy of the second novel ‘HIDEAWAY COVE’ of the Windfall Island Series by Anna Sullivan.  The story is a Contemporary Romance novel with a little bit of suspense and mystery in the storyline, making it an enjoyable read.  You’ll be reading the story through seven P.O.V.’s(point of views) which include: Jessi Randal, Holden Abbot, Sheriff George Boatwright, Maggie, Lance, Benji and Paige.

We first meet single mother, Jessica ‘Jessi’ Randal, who works for Windfall Island’s only charter plane company piloted by her best friend Maggie Solomon.  Jessi has a young son named Benji who she has raised on her own, with the help of her late mother, who she tries to follow in her ways.  Jessi is a beautiful woman with auburn hair and a very sweet personality.  She became pregnant as a teen and at one point was the talk of the town, for getting pregnant by her teenage boyfriend Lance, who ended up leaving Jessi behind while pregnant with Benji.

Holden ‘Hold’ Abbot is a visitor in Windfall Island during an off season.  He isn’t a typical visitor with his Southern voice and his tall and handsome looks.  Hold is there for a reason.  He is on the island to do genealogy research, in hopes to find the missing heir to the Stanhope family fortune and to see who could be Eugenia’s descendant.  Hold is charming and can be flirtatious but he keeps women at a safe distance due to a secret of his past that he doesn’t like to share.  Not even to Jessi, who he begins to grow interested in on the island.

Jessi is determined to put her son first and any romantic-love interests is the furthest thing from her mind.  Holden, for his own personal reasons, has not allowed himself to trust dating anyone because of something from his past, same with Jessi.  But what neither of them expected, was the growing attraction and interest that they begin to have with each other.  Someone returns to Windfall Island, ready to change things up with their own agenda.

This story has a decent storyline with a nice blend of romance, mystery and suspenseful-action.  It definitely picked up more in the second half, once the mystery got fully underway.  The million dollar question: who is the heir to the Stanhope family fortune?  Who is out to kill the potential heir?  Will Jessi and Hold be able to trust each other enough to give each other a real chance?  I do recommend this wonderful story for readers who enjoy a nice romance with a nice mystery tied into the storyline.  Check this nice series out if you get a chance.  🙂

How I imagined Jessi and Hold while reading ‘HIDEAWAY COVE’:

Lucy Pinder 1st housemate evicted from Celebrity Big Brother

Jessi’s thoughts:  As the tender age of seventeen, her high school diploma so fresh in her hand that the ink was still wet, she’d found herself pregnant and engaged.  Nine short months later, the boy she’d thought her soul mate had left her high and dry and she’d given birth to the real love of her life.

About Holden:  Hold wasn’t a tourist, but he was an outsider -which had proven even less tolerable to the citizens of the island.  At least the male citizens.  The women tended to be a lot more welcoming.  Rabidly so.  Except for the one he wanted to get to know.

Holden’s thoughts:  But the past, Windfall Island’s past, had also brought him to Jessica Randal, and she would take or leave the man she saw before her, the simple genealogist.  And if, a tiny little voice whispered, she learned the truth?  He’d just have to find a way to stop that from happening, until he was ready to tell her himself.

Jessi’s thoughts:  When he touched her she was lost.  So she simply put herself into his hands.  His hands were gentle at first, but when she slipped hers under his sweater his touch turned a little rough, more than a little rushed, moving over her with an urgency that echoed hers.  She liked it, liked his hands on her, and thrilled when she felt him tremble.  It meant he felt everything she felt.

Holden’s thoughts:  She looked so damn beautiful, but it wasn’t the dress that showcased her curves to perfection; it wasn’t the wreath of flowers perched so becomingly atop her madly curling hair.  It was her.  The inner light that shone from her, the kindness, the humor, the warmth.  The love.
