“Battle Scars” is the latest novel from the amazingly-talented author Jane Harvey-Berrick. This Contemporary Military Romance novel touches on deeper topics regarding war and a love that grows unexpectedly. This author never disappoints when it comes to building great characters that form believable bonds while dealing with life changing events. Battle Scars is written from the main characters’ P.O.V.’s(point of view), M.J. Buckman and Jackson Connor.

Journalist M.J. Buckman is a driven and talented journalist for a well-known news network. She has big dreams of one day getting a promotion for a permanent position as a foreign correspondent. When she finds herself in a hostile situation in Afghanistan, she finds herself thankful yet furious at a Marine who lets her know how he really feels about her being there. Unexpectedly, an open-ended invitation may just send her life toward a cross roads that she’s never had the chance to experience before.

Marine Sergeant Jackson Connor is a ruggedly, strong and devoted man who proudly serves his country. The safety of his fellow Marines and completing their missions are always his main concerns. When he’s sent on a rescue mission, he can’t help but feel frustrated at the situation and the person needing to be rescued. But what surprises him the most is this attraction he feels toward this journalist.

Battle Scars delivers an enthralling and riveting story-line about two career driven people who can’t ignore their growing connection. Even so, they have the challenges of distance due to their careers while dealing with the ups and downs that life brings. M.J. and Jack have never really felt the need to put a relationship before their work but begin to find it hard to continue feeling this way when it comes to one another. I recommend this wonderful and beautiful love story for those looking for a lovely read that isn’t too dark or heavy. This one is definitely worth checking out. ❤
