It had an estimated $94.4 million in U.S. ticket sales on opening weekend and in international sales it made over $160 million within 58 territories worldwide. Fifty Shades was budgeted and filmed with the amount of $40 million. The current numbers as of April 21st, 2015 say how much success this adaptation continues to have: U.S. Domestic Sales are at$165,982,915 and international sales are at $402,816,353. With a total estimated in worldwide sales to be $568,799,268! (according to boxofficemojo.)

When the news was made OFFICIAL that the Fifty Shades Darker film as well as the third novel Fifty Shades Freed would be adapted to film, fans were thrilled! UPDATES: ‘Fifty Shades Darker’ & ‘Fifty Shades Freed’ from Vancouver to France! New set clips (7/1/2016):

Fifty Shades Darker & Fifty Shades Freed have both been filmed back-to-back in Vancouver. Just recently, filming ended at that location. If you’ve had the chance to read the novels, you’ll know why the filming has moved to France! Here are a few glimpses into the set and filming that has happened for the last two adaptations of this erotic-love-story trilogy. Jamie Dornan & Dakota Johnson are filming a scene in the first clip, but we also see one of Ana Steele’s personal bodyguards, Luke Sawyer played by Brant Daugherty. Is anyone else a little mind-blown? Here’s why I say this. Jamie is Christian, we know that and he’s a nice guy! But, with Brant wearing a gray suit, it’s hard not to sigh and think, yup he could’ve pulled off Christian, too! 😉 Am I right? Check out the first clip for yourself & the others. The Fifty Shades Novel Series has been filling many character spots in the past few weeks. The latest character casting announced is Boyce Fox, who is the first author that Anastasia Steele signs as an editor at the publishing company SIP that she works for. The character Boyce Fox doesn’t have a huge part in the novel series but his character will be realized in the film. Actor Tyler Hoechlin joins alongside Jamie Dornan(Christian Grey) and Dakota Johnson(Anastasia Steele), in the upcoming sequel to the Fifty Shades adaptations. The Fifty Shades Of Grey Screenwriter Kelly Marcel announced that she would not be back to write the sequel of the erotic-trilogy adaptation. Soon after, it was said that the novel trilogy’s author, E. L. James, was interested in filling the spot. Now, we have the official confirmation of who will be the sequel’s screenwriter. He’s someone that E. L. James probably trusts to bring her vision to the big-screen and she knows him well. Niall Leonard, E. L. Academy Award®-Nominee Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler, Brokeback Mountain) stars as “Billy Hope” in this riveting upcoming film titled “Southpaw” directed by acclaimed director Antoine Fuqua (Training Day). The screenplay writers are Kurt Sutter (Sons Of Anarchy creator) and Richard Wenk (The Mechanic). The film is said to be loosely based the narrative on rapper Eminem’s struggle during his career but instead of a rapper, the main character is a boxer. New Eminem music can be heard in snippets in the new trailer for the film. (posted below)

The film also stars Rachel McAdams who plays his supportive and beautiful wife, Oona Lawrence as his cute daughter, Academy Award®-Winner Forest Whitaker as his strict training coach. Also cast in the film are Rita Ora, Tyrese Gibson, 50 Cent, Naomie Harris, Beau Knapp, Clare Foley, Victor Ortiz, Miguel Gómez, John Cenatiempo, Skylan Brooks, Malcolm M. Mays, and David Whalen. This looks to be a very intense American Sports Drama Film wrapped around the boxing sport. The dramatic storyline follows the boxer’s life after he must deal with tragedy and issues in his father-and-daughter relationship in the film.

Today brings another new “Fifty Shades Of Grey” casting update. Actor Callum Keith Rennie has signed on for a role of “Ray”, stepfather to the naive Anastasia Steele in the highly anticipated adaptation of E.L. James’ bestseller of the same name.

Another casting update in the Fifty Shades of Grey film announced recently is of the loving adoptive mother of billionaire Christian Grey, Dr Grace Trevelyan Grey. The Oscar-winning actress cast is Marcia Gay Harden.  Gay Harden, 54, won an Academy Award in 2001 for her supporting role in biopic Pollock and has recently finished work on Woody Allen’s Magic In The Moonlight.
