The Synopsis:

The second installment in the Only series. Must read book one first!!

First loves never die but Grayson Ford comes close. Bleeding out in a war zone, he barters with God. Bring him back alive, and he’ll make it right with his girl.

*All I want is Emma. I need her, and I fight for her memory. A story. A smile. Anything. But it’s all blank.*

Emma is not his girl anymore. Time has skipped by and life’s been hard. She strips to pay the bills, waitresses to fill the hours between classes and her third job. All while working to be the best mama she can be to the little girl who will never know her daddy. Even though Grayson abandoned her, she mourned his death. Until he calls, and everything she knew was wrong.

*It’s him. The him that ruined my life. That made my life. That confused my mind to the point that I can’t figure out if I’ve been destroyed or set free. The him that… is… dead.*

He’s back with one objective—Emma Kingsley—and she never sees it coming.

Only for Her, Only #2
The novella series will release in its entirety this spring.

My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading ‘ONLY FOR HER’:

***WARNING: Possible SPOILERS if you haven’t read the previous Novella of the Only Series.***

This is the 2nd installment titled “Only For Her” of a four part novella series by Cristin Harber. After having the chance to read and review the first novella of this series, I was hooked.  “Only For Her” is of the New Adult genre and is a Contemporary Romance story that continues to follow the now adult characters Emma and Grayson. This novella is written in the two main character’s P.O.V.’s(point of views), Grayson Ford and Emma Kingsley.

He is dead. Those words were enough to rip her heart open as soon as she heard the news going around town about Grayson Ford, her former best friend and the one guy she’s ever loved completely. She’s only ever loved him since they were kids and now he was gone but she needs to confirm it. She can’t believe it because rumors sometimes are just that, rumors and not true. She continues her busy schedule of taking classes, working three jobs and tending to her most important responsibility, the reason that drives her each day, raising her two year-old daughter Cally. Her twin brother Ryan has been protective of his sister ever since his best friend abandoned his sister with no word to anyone. Emma is determined to do it on her own and so far she has been struggling but doing it. When she receives an unexpected call, her world is sent into an emotional tailspin.

Grayson Ford should be dead. All of his fellow brothers that served along side him all died but he lived. How? Why? Was it his plea to God to live so he could make things right with the one girl he’s ever loved? Maybe. He’s alive but he’s not the same. The him from before is dead but the broken, tormented and determined him is set on finding Emma and fixing everything he ruined the day he left without a word.  She’s all he’s ever thought about and he needs to ask for her forgiveness for running away. He doesn’t know where she is but he heads to the last place he left her and the last place he wants to ever return to.

Will Grayson be able to find Emma? Will Emma be willing to forgive Grayson or has that bridge been burned for good? Can the past be forgiven or has it been destroyed? This novella was such an amazing sequel in the Only Series. The story continues to be so captivating, with enjoyable characters, and a storyline that is mesmerizing as well as emotionally consuming. Grayson is darker and the alpha-male in him is more prominent now as an adult. He was book-boyfriend crush-able before but now he is absolutely alluring and irresistible. I highly recommend this novella and this series. The third installment “Only For Us” will be coming out very soon so be on the look-out for that one. I’m so ready to see where author Cristin Harber takes us as we follow the breath-taking story of Emma and Grayson. Heads Up: These novellas each end with a cliff-hanger feel to them but don’t worry. These novellas are coming out not that far apart so the wait is not long and definitely worth it! Loved this!  You should positively pick up these novellas. You won’t be disappointed!

MEMORABLE QUOTES & LINES FROM ‘ONLY FOR HER’

Grayson’s thoughts:  Nothing changes. I fall away from the edge of waking into the hell that I deserve. The only thing that could ever save me was Emma’s voice, and I’ve lost that forever.

Cally and Emma:  “Mommy.” She buries her head into my shoulder as we head toward the parking lot. “I wanna go to sleep. Story?”
Oh… I sigh. “Sure thing, snugglebug.” A story makes her bad day go away.
My heart squeezes. Like daddy, like daughter.

Grayson’s thoughts:  I had begged God to let me make it right. To stay alive and see my girl. A desperate shudder runs through me. It’s too late. It has to be. It’s been three fuckin’ years since I last saw her. They’ve been hell. I bitched out on a shot at love, at happiness. She’s not my girl. Not anymore.

Emma’s thoughts:  No one calls me Ems. No one but Grayson Ford. The boy I dream of, the man I dance for, the reason I’m still living, and the source of all my desperation. My throat tightens to the point that I think I’m going to choke, and an intense pounding in my chest finds its way to my ears. There is no way I just heard what I did.

Emma’s thoughts:  Maybe it’ll be better if he stays the unrequited dream-come-true that I dance for every Wednesday. At least that way, I’ll never know what it’s like to be devastated twice in a lifetime.

Emma and Grayson:  I’ve never stopped loving him.
“I’ve hardened. I’m… broken. Haunted. But I never stopped needing you.”
Shivers roll through me. “Oh.”
“And I’m back with one mission. You.”

Grayson’s thoughts: It’s not a kiss. More of a claim. This woman is mine. I’ll beg and plead, do whatever it takes. I’ve been wrong. Been scared. Been a motherfuckin ’ fool. The answer to my problems has always been right here, with her.

The Synopsis for ‘Becoming A Jett Girl’ (via: Goodreads) :

How did I start the Lafayette Club?

Well, I’m in the business of saving tarnished souls. I hand pick girls from the street who have no options left in life and give them an opportunity they can’t possibly refuse.

They come to work in the Lafayette Club which is full of EXQUISITE DEBAUCHERY, where influential men come to conduct business and lap dances are considered a fine art.

The girls are trained, they are morphed, they are educated, they follow the rules of the club and they know to submit to me. They live by my motto, no relationships, no love, just sex.

They are never touched, only by me, they are never completely naked, only with me, and their personas are entirely anonymous. The only person who knows who they truly are, is me, Jett Colby.

If these girls were ever seen on the streets of New Orleans, you would never know they were a Jett Girl.

My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading ‘BECOMING A JETT GIRL (The Bourbon Series book #1)’:

Author Meghan Quinn never lets her readers down when it comes to expecting an entertaining story, well-written characters and a novel that you just can’t put down.  This novel is titled ‘Jett Girl’ and is the first novel of ‘The Bourbon Series’. I enjoyed reading and reviewing ‘Jett Girl’  because it was a fun read thanks to the perfect blend of erotic moments, fun sarcasm and the storyline does not leaves you feeling gypped or rushed.  In this novel, you’ll read the story through the dual P.O.V.’s(point of views) of Goldie and Jett Colby.

We are first introduced to Goldie, a young beautiful petite-female with chestnut hair, azure colored eyes and curves in the places men drool over. She who works at a pretty seedy adult entertainment club by the name of ‘Kitten’s Castle’ as a waitress to make ends meet.  Her parents were lost one tragic day and since then she’s never really had many close relationships other than her one close friend Lyla, who works with her.  Sex appeal and beauty helps pay the bills most of the time but with that, also comes the touchy perverts. This has been her lifestyle while living in a shared apartment with Lyla in the historical French Quarter of New Orleans.  She’s offered a once in a lifetime opportunity that would change her world upside down, if she accepts the offer that is.

Next, there is Kace. Oh yes, Kace is definitely a character that had me sometimes feeling torn between him and Jett.  He’s described as sexy and suave, with dark short hair, blue eyes and a tall muscular body that makes women hot and bothered.  He is Jett’s best friend and definitely is one of those supporting characters that you hope becomes the main focus in one of the future novels of this series.  I enjoyed the dynamics of the story between Goldie and Kace.  His character comes across as someone who could be the best friend to have and a scary enemy to cross, thanks to his skills.  Loved that about him.

And then there is Jett Colby.  Jett is handsome and sexy with clean cut and nicely styled dirty blonde hair, tall in height, very fit and has deep blue eyes.  He’s best friends with Kace and the owner of Lafayette Club, where rich men go to handle business deals and afterwards, can unwind with the pricey, classy and sexy entertainment.  He keeps a certain discreet order in his club.  The women who reside and entertain there follow certain rules and in trade, Jett offers them comforts they never knew, an education and a lifestyle far better than wherever he found them.  The agreement between Jett and Jett’s girls is that they must all submit to him. No relationship, just sex, consensual and erotic sex.

The story is great and kept me wanting to see what was next.  I literally could not put it down.  ‘Jett Girl’ is a steamy read, that’s for sure but there is so much more to it.  You’ll get some suspense, funny dialogue that especially comes from Goldie and the story succeeded in entertaining me from start to finish.  There is no cliffhanger but you can tell that a few things are left open-ended, which makes me know I can expect more from the next novel of this series.  I highly recommend this novel. I can not wait to see what is in store for the characters of ‘The Bourbon Series’.  Very enjoyable!

Reader Warning: The story is contains sexual content, sexual-language at times and mature situations.  Recommended only for readers – ages 18+.

MEMORABLE QUOTES & LINES FROM ‘BECOMING A JETT GIRL’

Lyla to Goldie:  “You got to work it, bitch, if you want to get the hell out of here, so stop complaining and put your garter belt on.  We have some willing customers out there with some fat wallets.”

Goldie’s thoughts:  I’ve spent the last nine years of my life trying to climb back from the hole that Hurricane Katrina put in it and it hasn’t been easy, especially since I have no degree and no job experience.

Goldie’s thoughts:  When I opened the door, I was socked in the nose with the scent of money…that was the only way to describe the smell of Rex Titan…money.

Jett’s thoughts:  The Bourbon Room was the only room the girls were allowed to be in on my floor and only when invited.  Other than that, they were not allowed anywhere near the third floor.  It was my sanctuary, my place to look over my club and the place where I conducted all of my business.

Goldie and Kace: “I’m not going anywhere until you tell me your name.”
The man got off the stairs and came to me with his hand extended.
“I’m Kace Haywood.”
I took his hand in mine and said,”It’s nice to meet you Kace. Now, was that so hard?”
“Yes.”

Jett’s thoughts:  She was going to be trouble with the members and I was prepared to throw out every member of the club who even tried to touch her.  She was only there for them to look at and, if I were honest, I didn’t even want that.

Jett to Lo: “…it will pleasure me the first time I get to taste you.  Your body is not for my pleasure.  Your body is for your pleasure.”

Jett to Lo:  ‘There will be a lot of men watching you, checking your body out and wanting to touch you.  Remember, you are mine and no other man is allowed to lay a hand on you.  The minute someone does, you tell me.  I will be around and keeping an eye on you, my little one.’

Kace and Lo: …”there are a lot of dangerous men out there tonight. I will keep an eye on you,
but if anyone tries anything, you let me know immediately.”
I nodded my head as I tried to tamp down the feelings Kace stirred inside of me.
His breath caressed my shoulder as he looked me over one last time,
sending a bolt of desire through my body.
“You look…” he cleared his throat and continued,”You look beautiful, Lo.”

Goldie’s thoughts on Rex and Jett:  Rex Titan owned my body at one point and it was pretty much impossible so say no to him, just like it was impossible to say no to the man who was currently staring daggers at me as I stood up on the podium.

Jett’s thoughts:  I would give her tonight and then I would move on.  I had to; I had a business to run, I had my fucking heart to protect.  As I leaned down and kissed her delectable lips I thought, maybe I would give her tonight and tomorrow morning as well;  it was too hard to just quit Goldie cold turkey.  I had to ease her out of my system.

Goldie’s thoughts:  I hated myself for not being able to put up much of a fight, even though I knew he would never give me what I wanted.

Kate Corbin has lost her spark. From the outside, her life seems charmed. She has a handsome, long-term boyfriend and a budding journalism career at a popular Chicago newspaper. But in reality, her relationship is going nowhere, and she’s quickly losing motivation for what she once believed was her dream job. When her boyfriend dumps her unceremoniously, Kate loses all hope of finding love.

With no living family and few friends, Kate confides in her boss. Trusting that the hungry, ace reporter is buried somewhere deep inside, he gives Kate the opportunity to jumpstart her career. The assignment: to interview the famously reclusive R.J. Lawson, a wealthy tech genius who disappeared years ago but recently reemerged as a Napa Valley vintner. The week takes an unexpected turn, however, when Lawson refuses to divulge any information. Desperate for a lead, Kate turns to Jamie, a vineyard hand who shows her the romance of wine country—and stirs her aching heart. But his connection to Lawson is ambiguous, and when Jamie disappears before the end of the week, Kate is left to investigate another story: the truth behind the man who stole her heart.

Worth The Fall by Claudia Connor

A Synopsis & My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading ‘WORTH THE FALL (The McKinney Brothers Series book #1)’:

I was given an ARC copy to read and share an honest review about ‘Worth The Fall’, which is the first novel of ‘The McKinney Brothers Series’ by Author Claudia Connor.  I’m always excited to read new work from authors. There is a special place in my heart for romance novels that stem around family and military related stories.  This story definitely has the best of both. The novel is read through the dual P.O.V.’s(point of views) of the main characters, Abby Davis and Matt McKinney.

We first meet thirty-four year old Navy SEAL, Matt McKinney who is single, devoted to his team and the duty that comes with his line of work.  To me, he is the epitome of tall, dark and handsome.  Dark hair and eyes, a strong and fit body, tall height and a manly persona.  His love for family and his admirable respect for duty, just make his character very likeable. He’s never met a woman who made him think ‘serious relationship’ but a couple of years ago, he started feeling this need to consider starting his own family.  All of that got pushed aside and almost completely out of his mind, after a tragic mission where he made a promise to his fallen teammate, his best friend.

We also meet the young, beautiful mother of four, with a fifth in her pregnant tummy, Abby Davis, who decides to take her children to the beach for a much needed family vacation.  After her own tragedy, she’s been raising her children on her own and is determined to prove to herself and anyone paying attention, that she can handle this no matter what.  She is a young mother with dark hair, green eyes, beautiful and ready to keep everyone at a distance from here on out.  All her life, she’s never felt needed or wanted and made it her own motto to never let anyone get too close because they always leave.  Upon meeting a strong, handsome, unexpected stranger, she had no idea how a week-long family vacation would become more than she could imagine.

One week is all it took for the unexpected to happen.  Matt had been craving for something deep down inside and Abby never thought she would be willing to risk giving her trust to anyone. But a day on the beach would be the start of something more than they ever thought could exist for either of them.  Matt begins to feel attached to Abby and her children but knows it can’t last after they part ways.  He will have to go back to work and keep his promise to his best friend.  And Abby hesitantly enjoys Matt’s friendly and helpful attention but knows that eventually she will be going back home with her kids, leaving the beach fun behind.

But their beach week becomes more than either of them could expect and something happens that neither will forget.  Will a week long friendship alter their lives to the point of no return? Can Matt break through the barriers that Abby has up to protect herself?  Will Abby ever trust Matt enough to let him get close? Trust me, this story is ‘Worth The Fall’.  Any story that can make my emotions come alive so strongly, is definitely a winner to me.  A well written story,  a great amount of ‘sweep-me-off-my-feet’ moments and characters that are enjoyable and relate-able in the realistic sense, make me list this novel as one I truly recommend.  I will be awaiting the next novel of this series to see which of Matt’s brothers, the next novel will be about. Could it be the youngest distant brother J.T. or the successful single brother Stephen with issues of his own? We will see in a few months. But until then, check this novel out, it’s worth it!  🙂

WORTH THE FALL’ is the 1st novel of ‘The McKinney Brothers Series’. What’s next in this series:

MEMORABLE QUOTES & LINES FROM ‘WORTH THE FALL’

Matt’s thoughts:  At thirty-four, what had once been sexy seemed sleazy.  Bold and assertive felt more like desperate and aggressive.  He liked sex.  He didn’t like being mauled.

Abby’s thoughts:  Nice, and nice looking.  Not that she had been looking, but she wasn’t blind.  And the way he’d played with her son?  Not once in Jack’s five years had his own father played with him like that.  And now he never would.

Matt’s thoughts:  It was a lucky man who had a woman like that, kids like that.  His brothers did, but he’d made different choices.  Different promises.

Matt’s thoughts:  Bunkmates.  Teammates.  Best friends.  Until that friend had come home in a body bag.  Matt stared at the ocean below his condo balcony, fighting the gory memories, teetering between punching the wall and crying like a baby.

Matt’s thoughts:  He surrounded her, and even though she was small, she surrounded him.  Fit against him like she was made to be there.  The rest of the world faded away until there was nowhere else he’d rather be.  Not with his team, not with his family.  Nowhere.  Six days.  Six fucking days he’d had with her.  It seemed like a second, and like a lifetime.

Matt and Abby:  “Just tell me you feel it too.”-(Matt)
Tears threatened and she bit her lip against them.  “I feel it.”-(Abby)
But she’d convinced herself a long time ago that she didn’t need more. That she didn’t want more, not enough to face the risk of losing it.

The Synopsis for ‘We Are The Goldens’:

Nell knows a secret about her perfect, beautiful sister Layla. If she tells, it could blow their world apart.

When Nell and Layla were little, Nell used to call them Nellaya. Because to Nell, there was no difference between where she started and her adored big sister ended. They’re a unit; divorce made them rely on each other early on, so when one pulls away, what is the other to do? But now, Nell’s a freshman in high school and Layla is changing, secretive. And then Nell discovers why. Layla is involved with one of their teachers. And even though Nell tries to support Layla, to understand that she’s happy and in love, Nell struggles with her true feelings: it’s wrong, and she must do something about it.

My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading  an ARC-Early Copy of ‘WE ARE THE GOLDENS’:

I was invited to read and review an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) of ‘We Are The Goldens’ by Author Dana Reinhardt.  This story follows the close bond shared between two sisters and a moment in their relationship that tests that bond. You will read the story through the main character’s P.O.V.(point of view), Nell Golden.

Nell Golden is a freshman in high school, who has a special and close relationship with her big-sister, Layla Golden, who is a well-liked junior at their high school, City Day. They’ve always been close, shared secrets and have supported each other in the ways that close siblings and best friends do.  In Nell’s eyes, her sister Layla is the most beautiful person, perfect in every way and can do no wrong.  But this year brings changes and a bite of reality to Nell’s life. With Nell experiencing changes in her own life stemming from her friendship with her best friend Felix, dealing with her sister being secretive and experiencing her first high-school crush, Nell has so much to deal with.

Layla’s been acting strange and distant.  She has become uninterested in most of the things that that her classmates seem excited about like parties, high-school boys and hasn’t been hanging out with her friends as much as she use to.  Nell has her suspicions about what might be the reason behind the changes she’s seen in her sister but she continues to deny it and cover for her big-sister, in hopes that her sister will open up to her about what is actually causing these changes.  When Nell finds out that Layla has been having a secret-relationship with their young, attractive art-teacher, she is torn about what to do.

Nell knows it’s not right but she can’t help but do like she always has, and that is to cover for her sister and try to support her. But can she keep hiding her sisters huge secret?  This story has a steady paced storyline, with a few interesting and climactic moments.  I enjoyed it for the most-part but I do wish that the ending lasted a little longer in order to give a more solid conclusion.  It almost felt like there were a few points that left the storyline mildly-vague between ‘Nell and Sam’ and left me asking three questions:  Did the entire truth come out? And how will things go with Felix and Nell’s friendship?  Is there a follow-up novel planned, which would explain the ending better?  If you enjoy a nice story that seems relate-able in a ‘real-life’ sense, give this one a read. 🙂

MEMORABLE QUOTES & LINES FROM ‘WE ARE THE GOLDENS’

Nell’s thoughts:  When things are right between us, that’s when I feel like me.  It’s always been this way; we know the family joke.  When I first learned to talk I called myself Nellayla.  Nellayla.  You were so much a part of me I thought we shared a name until you told me: “I am Layla,” and you tapped your chest, then reached out to touch mine.  “You are Nell.”  I can’t remember, but I’m sure this rattled my tiny universe.

Nell’s thoughts on Layla:  Somehow I think the story begins with that self-portrait from school, the one with your faraway eyes.  If I could go back to the moment I saw it,  and if I had known what I was looking at, I’d have pulled you aside and said: No. Stop. Don’t.

Nell’s thoughts:  We are the Goldens, but we aren’t perfect.  We’re going to have some hard times, and I wanted to calmly and wisely say some version of this to you: I am your sister, I’m here to help, we’re close, our lives are intertwined, you can trust me.  Unfortunately, that didn’t happen.

Felix to Nell:  “What if I only have one chance?  Wouldn’t I want to make the most of that?  And if I only have one chance” -he locked his eyes on mine- “I really want that chance to be with you.”

Nell’s thoughts on Layla:  It’s like that quote you like.  Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact.  Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth.

Blindness by Ginger Scott

The Synopsis of ‘Blindness’:

It takes a while to know who you really are. And when you lose your way, sometimes it’s hard to find it again.

Charlie Hudson was on the verge of figuring that out when her dad—the only parent and friend she ever had—died suddenly. She was barely 18, and she was alone. So she went for easy—playing life safe, running away from a home that harbored nothing but bad memories and challenges and loving a man who would take her away from it all forever.

It’s funny how chance takes over when you need it most. And that’s exactly what brought Cody Carmichael into her life. A former motocross super star, Cody was now happy to be living the blue collar life, spending his days finishing up school and his nights under the hood of some classic car, just trying to keep everything his father taught him alive. Cody and Charlie were living parallel lives, until they finally collided. And the moment he smiled at her, Charlie knew he was the one who would change everything. But was she willing to take the risk?

Cody saw through it all. He saw her—all of her. But would letting him in be too much to take? And if Charlie let herself love him—really love him—could he love her back?

My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading ‘Blindness’ by Ginger Scott:

I was so excited to be asked to do an early-ARC-review of one of my favorite authors, Ginger Scott’s latest novel, ‘Blindness’.  I have to admit, the cover for ‘Blindness’ has quickly become one of my favorite novel covers and it’s definitely fitting for the look of one of the important characters in the story.  Here is my honest review of this latest novel, which follows the main characters, Charlotte ‘Charlie’ Hudson and Cody Carmichael.  It’s offered in Charlotte’s P.O.V but you get a great Epilogue at the end in Cody’s P.O.V. too. 🙂

Charlotte ‘Charlie’ Hudson had a hard start in life with an addict for a mother and a father who didn’t even know she existed at first, but finds happiness for a moment long after she’s thrust into his life.  After years of awkwardness and not-much of a father/daughter relationship, it changes after an event and they finally begin to bond. That happy time in her life is short-lived after tragedy strikes and she decides to leave the only place she’s come to call home.  She goes to college and falls for a guy named Trevor Appleton, who is perfect in every way that most women would want and Charlotte feels like she’s found her happiness.

Everything seems fine in her life, until she meets a tattooed guy named Cody Carmichael.   At first site, with his tattoos and piercings, Cody doesn’t fit the typical image to Charlotte because he’s also attending the college she attends and is a math tutor, due to the fact the he’s actually pretty smart.  Cody has his own past that he’s had to deal with and is still dealing with but after meeting ‘Charlie’,  something makes him curious to know more about her.  He’s a former motocross champ who now works from his late-father’s shop and considers that his home, especially since the family he is a part of now, through his mother’s current marriage, isn’t really warm and welcoming to him.

Charlotte ‘Charlie’ has Trevor but when Cody comes into the picture when she least expects it, certain changes begin to make her question her feelings and she starts to discover things about herself that she never had before.  One major problem is that these new discoveries about herself, make her question what she’s believed was suppose to be her ‘happy ever after.’ This is a story about finding yourself, learning to truly love and never giving up hope, no matter how far out of reach it can sometimes feel.  With the many challenges that ‘Charlie’, Cody and even Trevor are met with, you’ll find out if they’ll be broken from it all or if any of them can find strength in those challenges to realize when something is worth fighting for or when it’s best to just let it go.  Also, find out if Charlotte ‘Charlie’ can deal with the past she ran away from.  This is another great story from the wonderful author Ginger Scott that does not disappoint. And yes, I do recommend you check it out.

★★★MEMORABLE QUOTES FROM ‘BLINDNESS’★★★

Charlotte ‘Charlie’s thoughts:  I had gone from Charlotte Ferris, roommate- to Charlie Hudson, Mac Hudson’s daughter, all because some douchebag hit me.  It was the most horrible and most amazing thing to ever have happened to me.

Charlotte ‘Charlie’s thoughts:  I’m a little embarrassed by it, but honestly, before Trevor Appleton, there was never a guy who made me want to do more than kiss.

Charlotte ‘Charlie’s thoughts on Cody:  He looks nothing like a calculus tutor.  His hair is dark and tossed in various directions- almost messy, like he just removed his hat.  His arms are canvases of artwork, swirls of color crawling up each, sometimes winding into his fingers.

Charlotte ‘Charlie’s thoughts:  I know it isn’t right, but I also know it’s an innocent crush.  I’ve never really had a crush, a distraction that helps me miss Trevor less while he’s away.  Cody is just a checkbox in life I need to get through.

Charlotte ‘Charlie’ talking about her dad Mac:  “Looking at the stars was kind of our thing.  So when the pain gets to be too much, I look at them.  I pretend that he’s looking at them too.”

Charlotte ‘Charlie’s thoughts:  All I want now is time.  Even if the responsible thing to do is to stay with Trevor, to finish out this thing that I once thought was such a fairytale- I want these few stolen moments of what if.  I’ve never had doubts, but then again, I’ve never felt temptation.  I’ve never really felt.

Cody to Charlotte ‘Charlie’:  “It took a while to build, and I did some riding here and there.  But I didn’t really start riding a lot again… until I met you.”

Charlotte ‘Charlie’s thoughts:  My path could have been so different.  But it’s not.  Cody chose to stay away.  And we missed our moment.  It was supposed to be Cody.

Cody to Charlotte ‘Charlie’:  “Thing is, though, as much as I don’t do suits, neither do you, Charlie.  And Trevor?  He’s all suits, and ties, and… modern furniture.”

Cody Carmichael:  “You’re the end of me- and the beginning.  And I will fight for you;  I will always fight for you.”

Charlotte ‘Charlie’s thoughts:  The man I love, probably the only man who will ever live up to the legacy Mac left behind, hates me- I just made sure of that.  I made him love me, then crushed him body and soul.

Charlotte Charlie’s thoughts:  I was trapped- in every possible way- and my captor wasn’t bad.  In fact, he was a decent man… a great man.  But he wasn’t the one I wanted.  But that didn’t matter.

Charlotte ‘Charlie’s thoughts:  I want him to want me, over everything.  And I know it’s selfish as hell, but I’ve already tried being in love for someone else’s sake, and I lost a piece of myself going down that road.  I won’t do it again.

Charlotte ‘Charlie’s thoughts:  I threw away EASY!  I threw away PERFECT!  Because I chose difficult- I chose fucking impossible! I chose him!

Cody saw through it all. He saw her—all of her. But would letting him in be too much to take? And if Charlie let herself love him—really love him—could he love her back?

Novel TEASER from “BLINDNESS” by Author Ginger Scott:

Cody is still next to me, his grip on my hand once again strong, but his body is stiff. I’m rewinding mentally, realizing just how far I went. Shit! I said way too much! I don’t even know what I’m doing here. This all suddenly feels way too intimate—wrong. My pulse is speeding up the more I think about what Trevor would think if he saw me, saw this—saw us!

I slide the pillow from my chest to the side and work my fingers until they’re out of Cody’s grip. He remains next to me, but isn’t moving. I’m pretty sure I just made him feel unwelcome in his own bed, the awkwardness creeping in now and almost choking me. I have to leave, leave this bed and then leave this room. I’ll be calm until I shut his door, and then I’m running.

Yes, that’s it. I’ll run.

“Oh God, I’m sorry. I just unloaded, like, way too much on you. I’m…I’m just going to go,” I say, pushing myself up to sit at the side of the bed and slip on my shoes. The light is dim, but I can tell that Cody’s eyes have shifted to me. He’s still not moving or speaking, and I don’t really want him to. I just want to get out of his room without him saying a word.

“Thank you, truly,” I say as I stand and look once more at the ceiling. “The stars? They’re amazing,” my voice wavers, and I turn and walk to his door. I’m gripping the handle, willing myself to keep it together for just a few more seconds until I’m out of his view, when I feel his body behind me and see his hand flat against the door.

His breath against my neck raises every hair on my body. I’m looking intently at his fingers splayed out on the wood paneling of the door in front of me, my hands still gripping the door handle. Beyond this door, my life continues on one path—a path I know. A path I love. But I’m stalled, considering what happens if I stay in this room. I’m paralyzed. Fear. Indecision.

“Cody, I…” I start, but don’t know how to finish.

“Just stay,” he says, his voice barely audible, and the air released from his words sends more chills around my neck and down my entire body.

“Just…” I hear him swallow, and even though I can’t see him, I know he’s struggling. I keep my eyes forward and watch his fingers curl into a fist on the door, clinching tightly. “I won’t…I wouldn’t make you uncomfortable. I’m not asking you to do anything. Please…please just stay,” his head falling flat against the back of mine as he speaks. I can feel him breathe me in, and I feel like I’m racing down a hill, lightheaded from the conflict brewing inside.

“Okay,” I whisper, not even aware that it was me speaking. I’m on autopilot, turning away from the path I know and recognize on the other side of the door, but desperately worried that it won’t be there when I finally leave this room.

Cody’s hand slides from the door to my shoulder, and I shiver as he traces the back of his fingers down the length of my arm until he finds my hand once again. He pulls me to him, forcing me to turn into his body. I keep my eyes focused on the words on his shirt, reading the dates and towns to myself. Some tour shirt—a concert, perhaps? Or maybe a race? I’m trying to keep my mind busy with this pointless task when Cody reaches for my chin and pulls my face to look at his.

His eyes are serious. Even in the darkness of his room, I can see the flecks of blue—I’m that close. I watch them as they move to the side of my face to follow his hand as he pushes my hair away from my face slowly, tucking it behind my ear but leaving it there, his fingers tangled deep within my hair. He tilts his head to the side, and I think for a moment that he’s about to kiss me. I lick my lips on instinct, and I feel him tense up from it.

His hand forces me forward into him and I close my eyes, almost believing that if I don’t see it coming I won’t be able to stop it. I feel his chest press to mine next, then his hand wraps deeper into my hair so he’s cradling the back of my head. His other hand slides up my side to the middle of my back, and his chin comes down above my head so I’m completely tucked within his embrace. I’m sheltered, and it’s the first time I’ve ever felt my heart actually stop from being in someone’s arms.

Giving in, I bring my hands up Cody’s back so I’m hugging him tightly to me, my fingers gripping at his torn T-shirt. I slide my face flat against him and let out everything I’ve been holding in—it feels like for years.

Book Review! One Blogging Reader’s Review after Reading Waiting On The Sidelines by Ginger Scott.

Welcome to Books, Movies, Fandoms newest book review.
Title: Waiting On The Sidelines
Author: Ginger Scott
Series: Waiting On The Sidelines Series (two books)
Publisher: Self-Published.

The Premise of the story on goodreads:

Waiting on the Sidelines explores young love to its fullest, exposing how real young heartbreak and passion is and how important it is to discover yourself and hold onto your own identity. Ultimately, Waiting on the Sidelines is a story of hope, honesty and those powerful, first true loves–the ones worth holding onto at any cost.

_______________________________________________

My Blogging Review of Waiting On The Sidelines (book 1):

While I searched for the next good book to read I came across ‘Waiting On The Sidelines’. I added it to my ‘To Read’ list on goodreads.com which stayed there for about a week or two until I decided to give it a try. I purchased it at amazon.com and instantly it arrived to my Kindle Fire. Once I started reading this story, I quickly came to the realization that this was not going to be your usual young-love story filled with fluff and a ‘hard-to-relate-to’ kind of romance. As you read how the relationship between Nolan and Reed develops, you can’t help but hope that they mature enough to realize their feelings are stronger than they actually convey to each other. While their relationship teeters on the fine line of growing into something more or possibly being destroyed beyond repair, you find yourself rooting for them even more.

This coming of age story takes you on a four year journey through the experiences of a young girl named Nolan Lennox, who was named after the ex-professional baseball player. Nolan prefers to wear sports shorts and tube socks instead of skirts and dresses. She grew up in a humble part of town but never really questioned her clothing style, the home she grew up in or herself until she started high school and met Reed.

Reed Johnson grew up as the son and younger brother of two former hometown football legends. His future seems set to follow in their footsteps and surpass them because of his natural talent in the game. He easily becomes a popular student because of his good-looks, his football status as well as the good grades he maintains.

We get to know Nolan as she experiences her high school years and begins an unexpected friendship with Reed. She delves into situations that make her face the insecurities she never knew she had. Nolan also faces obstacles such as bullying from an upperclassmen who begins to date Reed. Reed also deals with his own insecurities that seem to make him question who he wants to be versus the Reed that others expect him to be.

You will find yourself as the reader, cheering for Nolan to stand up for herself and become the strong person that lives beneath the surface hidden by her insecurities. This book absolutely touched me simply because the characters are well written and you can easily share in the emotions as they experience them.

Waiting On The Sidelines has become one of my all time favorite Top Five Coming-Of-Age love stories because of how well written it is and the story itself is so captivating. I’ll admit it, I’ve read this story more than once and fell in love with it more and more each time I read it.

Follow the paths that Nolan and Reed take towards self discovery, life lessons and first loves that aren’t always full of rainbows and butterflies in ‘Waiting On The Sidelines.’

★★★MEMORABLE QUOTES FROM ‘WAITING ON THE SIDELINES’★★★

Nolan: “I’m sure Tatum would love to show off for you. You and Sean should come to one of the Tuesday games when you’re out of practice early.”   Reed: “Yeah, we should. And she totally would – Tatum’s a star, that’s for sure. But if I go, I’m team Nolan.”

Reed to Nolan: “Stop it; you don’t know how to take a compliment. I mean it and I want you to hear me. You. Are. Beautiful.”

Reed:  “I know you think I don’t remember. I know you think I was probably too drunk, but it was the only moment of clarity I’ve had in months, Nolan. I love you. I meant it then, and I mean it now.”

Nolan: “Reed, the only thing that you ever did to let me down was give up on us. I love you, and I’d love you if you were a biology major without an inkling of athletic talent, I swear.” 🙂

Going Long Waiting On The Sidelines 2 by Ginger Scott

Review for Book 2- Going Long: Waiting On The Sidelines 2.

Here is Blogging Reader’s Review of the second installment of the Waiting On The Sidelines series.

Title: Going Long: Waiting On The Sidelines 2
Author: Ginger Scott
Series: Waiting On The Sidelines Series (two books)
Publisher: Self-Published.

★★★NO SPOILER ALERT★★★
We kept the spoilers to a minimum while giving our blogger’s perspective on the book itself. Nothing major was spoken about.

Going Long – released: October 1st, 2013.

My Blogging Review of Going Long: Waiting On The Sidelines 2:

I was given the fabulous opportunity to read an advanced copy of Going Long: Waiting On The Sidelines book 2, thanks to the wonderful author Ginger Scott. I will be honest, I was giddy with excitement like a schoolgirl because I was in love with the first ‘Waiting On The Sidelines’ book and I had a strong feeling that Ginger Scott would not let us down in book 2. I’m happy to say my feelings were correct!:)

In most love stories we go through the story wanting to see the couple come together even though they usually end up spending most of the story apart. Then there is always the big ending where they discover what has always been there and they kiss and the story ends there. I’m happy to say that we got that at the end of the first book of ‘Waiting On The Sidelines’ but we were lucky enough to have a smart author who knew it just wasn’t enough. Which brings us to the second and final book of this series where we get see how things go for our beloved couple.

Going Long continues where the coming of age love story between simple girl, Nolan Lennox and the local football star, Reed Johnson leaves off. The first book was written only in Nolan’s P.O.V. (Point Of view) but in the second book ‘Going Long’, we get to hear the story from both Reed and Nolan’s P.O.V.’s.:)

Nolan and Reed are in love. There is no doubt and no question about it. They are both Juniors at their respective universities and have managed to make their long distance relationship work through most of their college years while attending separate schools hours apart. Life is busy for the both of them. Nolan and Reed’s relationship is going strong but there is one thing that is bringing their future into question. Reed begins to consider taking the opportunity to enter the draft for professional football sooner rather than later. With something so huge looming, it made Nolan do what she always did when things scared her, she shut down.

There are a few large twists and turns in ‘Going Long’ that make them question their relationship and makes them wonder if they even have a future together despite still loving each other. They find themselves wondering if love is enough?

To name a few things without giving away actual spoilers, Nolan and Reed both have goals they want to reach for in regards to their careers. Nolan’s hours at school are pretty hectic because she wants to finish school so she can pursue her career. Reed wants to take his chance to advance in his football career before his chance passes him by. In ‘Going Long’ one of them is faced with a temptation during an emotional low point and there is a secret that snowballs between Reed and Nolan. The secret is so big that it will change them forever.  But don’t fret, author Ginger Scott concluded this epic love story in a very fitting and touching way. You won’t be disappointed.

★★★MEMORABLE QUOTES & LINES FROM ‘GOING LONG: WAITING ON THE SIDELINES 2’★★★

Nolan’s thoughts: Reed was pleading with me. I wanted to be open to his needs, but the weight of my secret and the thought of having to make decisions and bring my news out for his mother’s judgement repulsed me.

Reed’s thoughts:  For the first time in months, I wanted to drink. No, fuck that. I wanted to get ripped and forget fucking everything.

Reed: “Dad, I will never love anyone like I love Nolan, and you know it.”

Reed:  “I’ll find a way to help the woman I love on my own. I’m sorry that I ever thought I could count on you.”

Nolan:  “When they interview you after the announcement, if you can work the word ‘coconut’ into your response, I will spend tonight in your room.”

Reed: “I’ve learned that sometimes love is hard. Life makes love hard, constantly pushing against you and finding things to throw in your way. And sometimes those things knock you down.  But then you get up. You get up, because that person, the one you love more than anything on earth… well, putting it bluntly, like my father taught me, they make getting your ass knocked down worth the trouble.”
